"A killer is blending in on the train," whispered Ming Jiushun, the Vice Captain of the Criminal Police, as he leaned closer to Si Jianxuan's ear, speaking in a mysterious tone. 0

Si Jianxuan, an investigator from the Trojan Business Investigation Agency—commonly known as a private detective—was on a train heading to Zhengzhou, preparing to gather evidence for a commercial case. 0

As soon as he boarded, he noticed his former police academy classmate, Ming Jiushun, dressed in plain clothes and "sneaking around" the carriage, which led him to pay attention to Si Jianxuan. 0

Ming Jiushun's eyes lit up instantly as he pulled Si Jianxuan into the duty room, stating right away that he wasn't there for leisure but had business to attend to. 0

Si Jianxuan had anticipated this; with this hefty fellow around, there would be no peace on the train. 0

"It’s said that someone has hired a killer to deal with a person trying to escape. But this tip-off isn’t very reliable. It’s hard to say whether there really is a killer or if they will take action. I decided to come along just in case. If there are extreme criminals on the train, that would be disastrous." 0

Si Jianxuan asked curiously, "Do you know the target of the killer and their physical characteristics?" 0

"Ah... The team in Chongqing is currently investigating the specifics. I split up with the captain; I’m on the train tracking down leads while he stays local. Whichever side makes progress first will crack the case. So, old classmate, can you help us out and cooperate?" 0

Si Jianxuan smiled and nodded. "Assisting the police is my duty. Alright then, I need to get some rest." 0

"Which sleeper are you in? I'll come find you when I have time." 0

"I'm in Hard Seat. Don’t worry; even though it’s off-season and the sleepers are full, there are plenty of empty spots in Hard Seat where I can lie down." 0

"You really are stingy at your office." 0

Si Jianxuan smiled helplessly, casually gathering his disheveled long hair. 0

The carriage was less crowded than he had expected. 0

Si Jianxuan took a seat at "045" and noticed that the row was completely empty. 0

Just as he was about to take a nap, he overheard a nearby passenger mocking his companion, "Look at you, rushing to buy a sleeper ticket. They’re all sold out, and you’re still in a hurry. Is it really necessary? Look around, it’s quiet and clean here, much more comfortable." 0

The companion sighed, "Who knows? I heard the sleepers were all booked by several tour groups. It’s really inconsiderate." 0

After hearing this, Si Jianxuan suddenly thought about how tour groups need to register passenger identities. Would a killer choose the Hard Seat carriage? 0

But during this off-season, there were still several hundred passengers in the Hard Seat section. Investigating each one would take until the train reached its destination. 0

During dinner, Si Jianxuan woke up just as he was about to prepare instant noodles when Ming Jiushun came to invite him to the dining car. 0

It was nice to be treated, so he left the noodles on the table. 0

As he stood up, he noticed that other passengers in the carriage were already eating noodles, while only the thin black guy next to him was still asleep. 0

The dining car was crowded and noisy. Ming Jiushun mostly complained about Si Jianxuan’s impulsive decision to leave police academy years ago. Si Jianxuan listened until his ears felt sore and quickly finished his meal, making an excuse to go to the restroom. 0

Next to the restroom was the Smoking Room. Si Jianxuan heard a man and a woman speaking softly inside the restroom. Out of professional habit, he strained to listen, but their conversation was intermittent and unclear. 0

The woman said, "You have to get off. It's too dangerous for you on this train. It seems like you've already been discovered." 0

The man replied, "That's what makes it exciting. This is a challenge, you know? Maybe they’ve figured out who I am. Whatever, just wait and see; there’s going to be a good show..." 0

As the train entered a tunnel, the sound of wheels clattering drowned out any further conversation. 0

Si Jianxuan stepped out of the restroom and noticed that the couple had moved to the car behind the Smoking Room. 0

He glanced at the overhead sign; that section was labeled Sleeper Car. 0

Returning to the dining car, he suddenly spotted the thin, dark figure who had been sleeping in the Hard Seat car earlier. He had no idea when this person had come to eat. 0
