Shen Jingyu paused for a moment, but then immediately stepped out to follow Su Xing. With a swift movement, he entered her house right behind her.
Su Xing took a deep breath and turned to shoo him away, but he placed the box he had just brought up right in front of her. It was a gift from Qin Yi, personally given to Su Xing. She had promised Qin Yi that she would take care of him, and she had also agreed to be Shen Jingyu's girlfriend.
At that moment, he spoke up: "Xingxing, I am your boyfriend." As he said this, there was a strong sense of determination in his eyes.
Su Xing instinctively frowned; if he wanted to come into her house, she really couldn't stop him. Besides, deep down, she didn't feel any real defenses against him; otherwise, he wouldn't know the password to her house. And she had no intention of changing it.
Shen Jingyu secretly scorned his own boldness but knew that if he didn't act a little shamelessly now, he wouldn't win her over. Seeing that Su Xing wasn't urgently pushing him out, he changed his shoes and followed her inside. He casually pressed his hand to his forehead and said, "I think I have a fever again; my shoulder feels swollen."
Noticing that he indeed looked unwell, Su Xing turned around and silently took the small box from his hands.
I really owe you from my past life!
She quietly placed the box on the coffee table, went to the bathroom to wash her hands and sanitize them, then returned to prepare to change his bandages. Shen Jingyu obediently took off his shirt.
To her dismay, the bandage on his shoulder was stained red.
Did I stretch it too much when I hugged him earlier?
Su Xing's expression darkened as she hurried over to help him unwrap the bandage and tend to the wound. The blood oozing from his injury over the past couple of days wasn't purely red; it was mixed with dark purple hues and even had a faint greenish tint upon closer inspection.
Su Xing hadn't considered that the snake's venom would be so potent that day. Qin Yi had said it couldn't be stitched up until the poison was completely cleared out with medication.
She couldn't help but scold him: "Did you really have to get yourself into this state? I'm telling you, if you don't take care of your injury and it gets inflamed or infected, and you end up in serious trouble, I absolutely won't care about you!"
Shen Jingyu raised an eyebrow and replied, "You're such a hard-headed yet soft-hearted woman."
If only the worry and pain in his eyes weren't so evident, he might have believed her angry words!
"If I were gone, would you really not feel sad? I just—" Shen Jingyu was abruptly interrupted by the domineering woman.
"Stop talking nonsense! Ugh, what a jinx!" Su Xing's attitude left Shen Jingyu feeling both amused and exasperated; she was the type who allowed the officials to set fire while forbidding the common folk from lighting lamps.
Su Xing took care of Shen Jingyu seriously, bandaging his wounds meticulously. However, after putting down the medical kit, she still felt uneasy and wanted to message Qin Yi.
Shen Jingyu noticed Su Xing pulling up the chat window with keen eyes. He took her phone with one hand and pulled Su Xing tightly into his embrace with the other.
"Instead of asking him, why not comfort me a bit more?" Shen Jingyu's tone was tinged with bitterness; this woman should be paying more attention to him!
"What good is comfort? If comforting someone could heal wounds, what do we need doctors for? What do we need hospitals for?!"
Somehow, after all that fuss, Su Xing felt her drunkenness fade away. When she looked at Shen Jingyu again, her eyes were clear.
"In my presence, your comfort is the most effective. If you kiss me, my wounds might not hurt anymore," Shen Jingyu said dramatically.
Su Xing scoffed, "You really have no shame!"
"Be gentle! If you move too much, you'll stretch my wounds; they're already swollen!" Shen Jingyu held onto Su Xing tightly and refused to let go.
His exaggerated tone nearly made Su Xing drop her jaw in disbelief. She shot him a cold glare and ordered, "The wound has been treated; please go back to your own home."
As someone acting like a boyfriend without any shame whatsoever, he feigned dizziness. "Why do I feel so lightheaded? I feel like I'm going to throw up."
"Are you showing symptoms of a concussion? Should I help you get one?" Su Xing's threat sounded like mere teasing in Shen Jingyu's ears.
In the end, Su Xing stood with her hands on her hips in front of the sofa, watching as that man—whose face could easily lead one to crime—peacefully drifted off to sleep.
After battling with her thoughts for a while, she finally grabbed a blanket and covered him up, adjusting the air conditioning to a slightly warmer temperature.
With light footsteps, Su Xing walked into her study and closed the door behind her.
The man on the sofa quietly closed his eyes and smiled faintly as he leaned against one side of the armrest, contentedly taking an afternoon nap.
Su Xing, however, did not share his mood. She sat at her desk, pressing her hands against her forehead and rubbing it continuously.
Before resolving the marriage issue between Han Ruoxi and Su He, she was more concerned about Lawrence. After sorting out her thoughts, Su Xing sent a message to Mu Beiyao: "Mu Beiyao, can you still get in touch with Li Li? And what about Li Zu Mao? They haven't returned since their father-daughter reunion, have they?"
Su Xing stared at the chat interface, the "typing..." indicator making her wait impatiently for a moment. It was just like when you wanted to sleep, someone would bring you a pillow!
Li Li has returned to the country and wants to meet you tomorrow. Are you going?
Su Xing's heart sank: This woman is up to something, but I have to go meet her.
Mu Beiyao replied: "Let's meet at Galaxy Bar. It's her territory; what kind of storm can she stir up there?"
Su Xing responded: "She might not be able to, but the people behind her definitely can."
Mu Beiyao continued: "By the way, Han Ruoxi canceled her order. She said you can't deliver on time and it will delay her participation in an event, making me bear the losses. She's a Leo, demanding ten million without hesitation. I don't want to give her a single cent! But if you don't want to design for her, you'll have to pay the penalty yourself; after all, you're rich!"
Su Xing scoffed: "Oh really? So sure that I'm not around? Then I'll just put on a show of faking my death."
Mu Beiyao gave a thumbs-up to the air in her office: "That's a great idea! Awesome!"
"By the way, what about Shen Jingyu? Have you told him about this? Is he really not standing up for you?"
"He's lying in the living room."
Mu Beiyao replied: "A woman in love is unreasonable. Wise men don’t fall in love! If you don’t wake up soon, I might have to bring Xiangyi back to help clear your head!"
"Stop! Let that little ancestor enjoy her trip without disturbing her. I'm scared of her."
Su Xing almost forgot that the two sisters had a thorny partner as well. Ten years ago, when Su Xing entered university for further studies, she met Lu Xiangyi, the little heiress from a top wealthy family. Her fiery temper matched perfectly with Su Xing and Mu Beiyao's personalities; they seemed destined to be friends and partners.
However, after graduation, for nearly five years, Lu Xiangyi had been traveling around the world, submitting design drafts monthly that were all hits, yet she refused to work full-time, constantly claiming she was out seeking inspiration and engaging in various thrilling activities.
When Su Xing experienced heartbreak, Lu Xiangyi almost pushed herself to the brink just to keep her spirits up.
So if Su Xing encountered any ambiguous romantic issues again—especially those related to Shen Jingyu—if she couldn't figure things out this time, Mu Beiyao would have no choice but to bring back their secret weapon to deal with her love-struck brain.
