Mu Beiyao parked the car, while Su Xing continued to scrutinize the photo intently.
"What did you discover? Why haven't you told that girl you're back home?"
Su Xing raised an eyebrow. "Better to dismantle a temple than to ruin a marriage. Xiang Yi's arranged marriage should be quite amusing. Let her go and make a scene in front of that cold-faced officer!"
Su Xing was genuinely looking forward to it. After all, in her perception, Lu Xiangyi and Rong Xigu seemed like two completely parallel lines that would never intersect. Yet the reality was that the stern man could throw a tantrum like a cat on fire when it came to Lu Xiangyi. Wasn't that interesting?
Mu Beiyao observed Su Xing's mischievous expression and couldn't help but remind her, "That girl will eventually come back. Be careful; she might drag you along for bungee jumping."
Su Xing pondered quietly in her heart, "She probably won't be back anytime soon." After all, she had been alone in Xing Yu Mansion for three days.
Finally feeling restless, she decided to visit a bar for some entertainment. That night, Su Xing encountered a rather strange man.
At the bar, Su Xing sat alone sipping a margarita, exuding a unique aura with deep, unfocused eyes. Almost everyone passing by caught sight of her, yet no one dared to sit next to her due to her intimidating demeanor.
However, one middle-aged man boldly took a seat beside her.
Yang Zekai and Su Xing exchanged glances at the man behind the bar; he seemed a bit tipsy, and she couldn't be bothered to shoo him away.
"Xing, don’t you remember me?" the man suddenly spoke up, causing Su Xing to frown instinctively.
Turning to look at him, she realized she didn't recognize him at all—just another washed-up face. How could he know her name?
Feeling annoyed, she turned away and took another sip of her cocktail before asking, "Who are you?"
"You can call me Jelf," he replied earnestly.
But something clicked in Su Xing's mind. With a cold glance and a scoff, she said, "Heh. Why don’t you just say you’re Lawrence?"
Jelf’s eyes widened in surprise. How did she figure it out? His advanced human skin mask was undetectable by any machine. Was she really onto him?
In that moment, Zhan Ying's thoughts raced a thousand miles. Yet, he managed to keep his emotions in check.
It seemed you knew more than one foreigner. Have you truly forgotten me?
But that Lawrence, is he someone you care for?
Care for? He has been watching me for many years; I might just be his old flame!
Su Xing was annoyed by Lawrence's presence, yet she had no idea when he would show up again. However, her calm demeanor caught Jelf's attention.
He chuckled, "You seem to be a woman who doesn't care about anything!"
Jelf wore a somewhat forced smile. Su Xing found his appearance rather strange but chose not to dwell on it.
Then another familiar face popped up.
"Hey! Star, care to buy me a margarita?"
Su Xing frowned and turned around to see Li Li.
"Wow, it's been a while, Sister Li Li!" Su Xing beamed as she stood up and opened her arms for a hug with Li Li.
"I'm really sorry about last time!"
With a glance, the bartender promptly pulled out a chair for Li Li. Soon after, Yang Zekai's special margarita was respectfully served.
"Wow, this bar is really well managed under your watch!"
Li Li looked around as if she hadn't been there in ages, surveying the place for a while.
"So you're back for good this time? Is the rice abroad not as tasty anymore?" Su Xing completely shed her earlier gloomy mood and switched to a cheerful tone.
"I probably won't stay too long; you know I married abroad years ago and settled down there, so I can't be back for too long."
"This time, I'm actually here to visit my Auntie's grave."
"But I didn't expect that after inviting you out, we wouldn't get to meet before you got caught up in that kidnapping incident! I've been waiting to hear from you."
"Being able to see you once before leaving would be nice."
Li Li's reminiscing made Su Xing feel awkward. The news of her kidnapping had spread throughout the city, and the person who had invited her out had not only avoided any investigation but had also taken ten days to finally meet her face-to-face.
Such a coincidence cannot be viewed with ordinary eyes!
I almost forgot to ask, what was the matter you wanted to meet about? It’s been so long since we last spoke! Su Xing said.
Li Li's gaze drifted a bit: It’s fortunate that you’re not in any trouble. I don’t mind waiting a little longer.
Suddenly, she leaned in slightly, resting her head on Su Xing's shoulder, and whispered in her ear: That man behind you has been staring at you. Is he your admirer?
Su Xing replied calmly and confidently, speaking loudly: I don’t like older men; I prefer younger ones.
Li Li chuckled: Well, your affair with Shen Gongzi is known to everyone!
Seeing that Jelf behind them showed no signs of leaving, it seemed he was determined to eavesdrop.
Su Xing continued chatting nonchalantly: Are you feeling jealous? Haven’t you had your fair share of younger boys over the years?
Su Xing could still catch glimpses of her private life on social media.
Li Li quickly retorted: One younger brother of mine can’t compare to you! You really know how to stir up jealousy.
But it seems Shen Gongzi isn’t the clingy type? Why isn’t he by your side?
At this point, a nerve in Su Xing's mind suddenly twitched.
This woman with the mature aura had entered the nightlife scene even before her. Her thoughts were definitely not easy to decipher; she could be considered a stranger to Su Xing once upon a time.
However, Su Xing later realized they might not be strangers after all.
She had left the city many years ago. Although they hadn’t lost contact, their face-to-face interactions had been far too few.
People change, and hearts can sway, so one must always be cautious with others and situations!
Su Xing pondered for a moment before casually saying: If he gets too clingy, I’ll find it annoying.
The implication was clear; she didn’t need him following her around all the time.
Su Xing wouldn’t easily divulge any details about Shen Jingyu to someone she hadn’t contacted in ages.
After all, walls have ears!
Noticing Su Xing’s expression had turned somewhat cold, Li Li felt a bit awkward and restrained herself slightly.
