Su Xing licked his lips and replied, “Don’t say such things! We’re in a precarious situation right now! Just stay safe! Never do anything that could harm yourself, understand?”
After a lingering kiss that felt like it lasted an eternity, Shen Jingyu reluctantly left the bathroom. He knew he had to ensure that his woman didn’t have to worry about anything.
The next morning, Su Xing was awakened by the alarm clock at four o’clock. After quickly getting ready, she went to check on Du Meng, who was already being prepared for her makeup and hair.
After giving some simple instructions, Su Xing planned to head over to the villa to see how her younger brother was preparing for the wedding.
He Xiaoqing had also woken up early but was pressed by Su Xing to go back to sleep.
It was only when Su Xing went downstairs that she saw Shen Jingyu waiting in the car with his eyes closed.
“Where did you go last night? The pillow was cold! How long have you been here?” Su Xing asked as she pulled him into the passenger seat.
On the way, Shen Jingyu answered her questions. “Last night, eight kilograms of explosives were brought in. I finished checking everything by three o’clock and have been waiting here for you since.”
Shen Jingyu kept his eyes closed this time; he didn’t hide anything from Su Xing. Yet deep down, he felt a sense of dread. If he hadn’t discovered those explosives beforehand, an accident at the wedding could have had devastating consequences!
He couldn’t deny that part of this danger stemmed from his own actions towards Su Xing. At that moment, Shen Jingyu couldn’t see clearly; staying by Su Xing’s side might pose an even greater threat to him.
Su Xing’s heart trembled as she asked, “Do you know who brought them in? Is it targeting the Du Family or us? The Du Family might not lack motives to tie us together in this.”
Shen Jingyu didn’t want to get involved with Du Gang, but given his current identity, he was indeed investigating.
“Don’t be nervous; I’m here!” Shen Jingyu reassured Su Xing, addressing her current state of anxiety.
Su Xing felt a sudden jolt of anxiety upon hearing the news. He silently prayed that there wouldn't be any major mishaps. The entire morning had been filled with the bustling atmosphere of the wedding ceremony, which was both solemn and sacred, beautifully romantic—all meticulously prepared by Su Xing. However, amidst all this, he had been too preoccupied to truly appreciate it. Only when the wedding was successfully concluded did his heart finally settle.
What Su Xing didn't expect was that part of the day's smooth proceedings had been meticulously arranged for Shen Jingyu, while another part was unexpectedly disrupted by a tsunami.
In the afternoon, as Su Xing's family gathered outside to bid farewell to guests, a subordinate of Shen Jingyu hurried over, whispering urgently that a tsunami had struck, and an emergency meeting was being convened, requiring Shen Jingyu to go immediately.
Furrowing his brow, Shen Jingyu raised his foot to leave but paused to explain the situation to Su Xing, detailing his impending departure.
Surprised, Su Xing asked, "Is it a serious situation?"
"I don't know yet," Shen Jingyu replied. "If I go over there, I'll have Luo Hao stay with you."
"No way! You need to bring him with you! He's your most reliable assistant; he can accurately analyze what you need and what actions to take!"
Shen Jingyu smiled slightly at the woman who understood him so well. "That's exactly why I want him to stay with you."
"Enough talk. Stay safe. I can only focus on my tasks if I know you're alright!" With that, Shen Jingyu hurried away.
After seeing He Xiaoqing home, Su Xing finally explained the situation. He Xiaoqing had sensed something unusual at the wedding venue earlier that day—an unsettling atmosphere and the presence of coldly dressed figures.
In their home at Menglan Bay, only women were present. Without hesitation, He Xiaoqing asked her daughter, "Did something happen today?"
"Yes! A massive tsunami occurred! I might need to head over there; Su Xing has invested in a factory there."
Mu Beiyao had already received news of casualties and missing persons; damages were extensive. Their factory had also been severely affected—this was bound to result in significant losses.
He Xiaoqing looked at her daughter with concern. "You know that's not what I'm asking about! Did any dangerous individuals infiltrate the wedding? Did you and Jing Yu know about this beforehand? Were any bad guys caught? Or did something else happen?"
"Mom, just stay calm at home and don't dwell on what's already happened! The successful completion of this wedding is our best outcome today."
"I'll probably head out soon with Mu Beiyao. While I'm away, try to avoid any encounters with Lawrence!"
Though Su Xing knew her aunt might not be able to comply fully, he felt it necessary to stress his warning: "He's deceiving you! No matter what he tells you!"
"Mom! Even if you don't believe me, you must trust Shen Jingyu! He's been investigating my father and his father’s affairs. Though he hasn't said it outright, I suspect they might be from the same department."
"So please refrain from acting on your own! Stay away from Lawrence and Zhan Ying!"
After Su Xing finished his explanation, his phone began to ring incessantly, prompting him to drive away in a hurry without any delay.
Inside the car in front of the villa, Mu Beiyao was continuously making and receiving calls. "Don't talk to me about these trivial matters right now. Focus all your efforts on finding people and minimize casualties! I will quickly prepare supplies to support you! You all need to find a way to open up routes for disaster relief!" Mu Beiyao instructed his team over the phone.
By the time Su Xing arrived, Mu Beiyao was already overwhelmed with headaches. "We can't get in right now! The roads have been destroyed! The tsunami has stopped, but there are constant aftershocks! The military you see on the news is being airlifted there! If we want to enter, we must either follow the rescue teams or find a way to get airlifted ourselves!"
