"Yes, it seems we need to set aside our own matters! Sisters, let's go! The three of us are ready to take on anything!"
Mu Beiyao was actually the least sentimental among them, but they all shared a kind heart. Su Xing checked on the three of them, ensuring they were dressed warmly. Although raincoats might not hold up in the heavy rain, they still needed to take proper precautions.
They first moved some lighter supplies and then listened for calls for urgent medical supplies or anything else within their capacity to help. They immediately took action whenever they heard a request.
Although they didn't belong to any specific team, gradually, everyone began to see the three of them as comrades.
The rain continued without pause throughout the afternoon, and everyone kept moving. As darkness fell, more and more people arrived to provide support. Su Xing noticed that there seemed to be no cooking team around.
Lu Xiangyi and Mu Beiyao had both grown up as pampered young ladies; while they could endure hardships, they were still hungry! Realizing this situation was untenable, Su Xing withdrew from the front lines. The command center was bustling with people coming and going.
For now, no one seemed to notice these issues, and Su Xing didn't want to disturb anyone. Instead, she organized a recently arrived team of journalists who had some connections with her. The lead reporter was an experienced journalist who had worked with Su Xing's mother in the past.
"Su Xing? What are you doing here? Did my teacher send you?"
Without time to explain much, Su Xing replied urgently, "Yang Ayi, you arrived just in time! I have an idea—there aren't enough personnel here, and the reinforcements haven't arrived yet. While you're here for interviews, could you also help distribute some food to the soldiers who have been working all day on the front lines?"
There was no time left for the organization to manage such matters! The disaster relief tents were not finished being set up, and there were already too many injured people who needed care.
As Su Xing turned around, she accidentally spotted Shen Jingyu carrying a heavily injured man whose leg was drenched in blood. Behind him was Rong Xigu, also carrying an injured person with a bleeding arm.
Both of them had already joined in the rescue efforts!
When delivering food, it was crucial not to add any burden to the ongoing rescue operations! Shen Jingyu recognized Su Xing just by her silhouette. Upon hearing her words, he immediately took charge of the next steps.
Su Xing nodded inwardly; she didn’t argue with him and felt much more at ease. Her greatest fear was affecting their normal operations. After all, they had their strict protocols in place. If her kindness disrupted their work because of her actions, she would feel guilty.
Just some ordinary bread—no worries! Su Xing responded but could only see his hurried figure disappearing into the chaos.
With not enough tents and an increasing number of injured individuals, Su Xing communicated with the television crew before heading over to the injured tent.
"What’s going on with you two? Hurry up and help them stop the bleeding! Apply pressure with gauze on their wounds! In this situation, amputation might be necessary! Otherwise, if bacteria infects them, no one will be able to save them!"
Su Xing entered and immediately saw his two sisters vomiting on one side. Lu Xiangyi was already crouched on the ground, shaking her shoulders as she cried.
Su Xing looked at the nurse he couldn't help and noticed that the other nurses were also overwhelmed, with no one having a moment to spare. The sight was distressing, but he rushed over, saying, "I’m here to help! I’m sorry; we’re just ordinary volunteers and have never participated in medical rescue work before!"
"What should we do next? Please tell me more; otherwise, I won’t know how to proceed!"
The doctor glanced at Su Xing a few more times, feeling equally troubled by the sight of so many patients who could not be saved, suffering greatly. The compassion of a healer was evident.
"Volunteers are here so early? Actually, those two were just interns! Although I’ve never seen them before, I didn’t expect volunteers to arrive here so soon!"
Su Xing struggled to assist him in treating the injured. Once it was confirmed that he no longer needed help, he ran outside and vomited for a long time.
Disaster shows no mercy! In the face of such calamity, humanity feels incredibly small!
Su Xing had no time to hesitate or dwell on his feelings. He turned back, and his two sisters had already composed themselves and were attending to some minor cases.
Thus, they busied themselves until the next morning. Aside from those who were unconscious, there were already over a thousand people present, with no one able to rest. All eyes were bloodshot; this was not only a test of various skills but also a test of physical endurance.
Shen Jingyu occasionally encountered Su Xing while treating the injured, exchanging worried and reassuring glances that seemed to strengthen their silent understanding.
For the first time, Su Xing truly felt what it meant to survive!
By nine o'clock the next morning, the rain and wind ceased, but aftershocks followed closely behind! Everyone sought shelter nearby. Shen Jingyu and Rong Xigu were not only worried about their team members' injuries but also concerned for their families.
After the aftershocks passed, cries of despair echoed once more. The two men immediately ran out to confirm that several women were unharmed and to check for any further damage!
Two days passed like this amidst swirling dust, gradually quieting down. The number of rescue personnel increased continuously; many areas began reporting progress in disaster relief.
It was then that Su Xing realized they were located at the command center.
Shen Jingyu monitored data while observing the three women who had been busy for two days and nights. He arranged for them to rest in chairs behind their command post; they needed time to recuperate!
The three women had indeed never experienced such high-intensity activity before; they leaned against their chairs and closed their eyes to rest.
However, the soldiers and medical staff could not afford even a moment's relaxation.
Finally, they awaited the arrival of personnel for shift changes. Yet two women expressed dissatisfaction—Shen Jingyu and Rong Xigu—both senior commanders who could not leave and refused to rest.
Lu Xiangyi didn’t know how long she had been asleep when she opened her eyes and saw Rong Xigu standing there, rubbing her temples.
Lu Xiangyi was visibly irritated as she pulled him into her chair, forcing him to close his eyes. "You need to rest now, even if it's just for ten minutes! I will keep an eye on you!"
Su Xing noticed the fatigue in Shen Jingyu's eyes. While she wasn't as forceful as the Little Heiress, she walked over slowly and gently placed her hand on his shoulder.
"How about a little break?" Su Xing's voice was soft, her grip on his shoulder neither too tight nor too light.
Shen Jingyu felt his heart soften completely. He placed one hand over Su Xing's hand, saying nothing, but his gaze remained fixed on the paper report that had just been delivered.
He couldn't afford to rest yet, for within this disaster lay another significant hidden danger.
