Shi Shaowen's expression seemed to freeze in place. Who among the thousands present in the shadows dared to show him such disrespect?
Zhu Man did just that.
Shi Shaowen's tone turned harsh as he addressed her, "Zhu Man, do you really think you have the audacity to act so arrogantly?"
Zhu Man gazed at him quietly, not saying a word for a long moment, but her fingers twitched slightly.
Suddenly, Shi Shaowen felt a tightening in his throat. Could it be that she had cast some kind of spell on him?
Zhu Man calmly spoke, "You are poisoned! Come to me for an antidote every month!"
Shi Shaowen wanted to retort, but he found his voice growing tighter and tighter. This girl could truly kill without a trace? He felt as if an invisible hand was gripping his throat tightly!
He cast a glance at Shen Jingyu and Su Xing, who were engrossed in their own world, completely ignoring him.
Gathering his strength, he shouted into the air, "Qin Yi! Come here!"
At that moment, Shi Shaowen became the subject of everyone's suppressed laughter. His shout was so jarring it sounded like a broken gong, and the way he called out Qin Yi was equally unpleasant.
Everyone then saw Qin Yi trying to stifle laughter as he approached, "Shi Duke! What's wrong?"
Shi Shaowen took a deep breath and shot a dangerous look at Zhu Man. "She says she poisoned me! I have to come to her for an antidote every month! The worst part is that I really feel terrible right now!" Shi Shaowen was nearly going mad; it felt as if thousands of ants were crawling in his throat.
"Zhu Man! You're ruthless!"
Whether or not she had actually poisoned him, the fact that she could torment him silently like this was infuriating. Shi Shaowen mentally noted this down as a debt to settle later.
Su Xing, sitting nearby, could naturally hear what was happening. He accurately caught a glimmer of mischief in Qin Yi's eyes.
Unable to contain himself, Su Xing leaned over to Shen Jingyu and whispered, "It seems Shi Shaowen is getting played. Does he deserve it?"
Shen Jingyu's words instantly made Su Xing laugh!
Shi Shaowen glared at the pair of shameless spouses and declared, "If I don't get out of this room, you two are responsible for me! Do you hear me?!"
Shen Jingyu awkwardly cleared his throat and replied in a small voice, "Mm."
Su Xing was more generous with his words: "Brother Shao Wen might as well stay here. There will always be a place for you at the hotel downstairs."
In this situation, I think it’s best for you to stay close to my sister, Zhu Man; it’s the best chance for survival!
Zhu Man gazed at Su Xing, saying, “You really suit my taste.”
Shen Jingyu was taken aback; he noticed an unfamiliar aggressiveness in the young girl’s eyes that didn’t belong to him. Instinctively, he pulled Su Xing tightly into his embrace.
Zhu Man sensed Shen Jingyu’s hostility but showed no sign of being upset. That night, everyone laughed and chatted until it was quite late. Su Xing wanted to stay until the end, but as time passed, he found it increasingly difficult to sit still.
Seeing his condition, Shen Jingyu immediately held him and said, “You’ll stay here tonight; I’ll take you to a room to rest.”
“Wait a moment.” Zhu Man finally lifted her head from her computer after a long night of work.
Beside her, Shi Shaowen stared intently at her as if they had just started a conversation. Yet, Zhu Man seemed completely unfazed by his demeanor!
Out of nowhere, Zhu Man produced a small pouch and opened it up to reveal many golden needles inside.
“Acupuncture?” Zhu Man asked Su Xing.
Surprised, Su Xing looked at her and suddenly felt a shift in the grip on his hand. Then he playfully remarked, “I’m not afraid, but it seems like this one beside me is a bit scared. Should we change places?”
Zhu Man paused for a moment; initially, she thought that even if Su Xing was scared, he still needed to go through with the acupuncture. However, changing locations did seem necessary.
“Then let’s prepare a basin of water! And a few empty basins too! Copper ones would be best!”
Once Zhu Man finished speaking, the noise from the adjacent table seemed to quiet down. Soon after, several people stood up; they were going to help prepare the items.
Both Shen Jingyu and Su Xing felt warmth from the situation. In the end, Shen Jingyu chose one person: “Mu Beiming, you take care of it.”
Mu Beiming nodded and replied, “You all go ahead to the three suites; I’ll clear out that entire floor. Miss Zhu Man can choose any room she likes.”
Then, as Su Xing and the others got up, people from two nearby tables also stood up. Even those at the main table heard the commotion and grew curious about Zhu Man, keeping an eye on her movements.
However, since Zhu Man had decided to treat Su Xing now, no one dared to interrupt them. They even attempted to award Zhu Man an honorary title but were subtly turned down by her.
The person who understands Zhu Man better is Shen Huai Ming. The little girl has a strong personality; it’s not something he actively sought, and he has never cared about it. Just like this time, Shen Huai Ming was quite surprised by his willingness to save Su Xing. Later, he realized it was because his son had some value he wanted to exploit.
As everyone moved to the guest room area downstairs, Su Xing was half-embraced by Shen Jingyu as they entered the room. Inside the bedroom, only Su Xing and Zhu Man remained. The others crowded into the living room.
When Mu Beiming arrived late, the door was opened by Shen Tian Er.
“Mu Ge,” she said, “my brother said that when you bring the things later, I’ll take them inside.”
Mu Beiming felt his heart skip a beat at her calling him “Mu Ge.” Shen Tian Er was youthful, her voice sweet and endearing. Was she deliberately trying to tease him, or was she just a single flower in bloom?
“Oh, oh! A bit... Let me help you to the door!” Mu Beiming didn’t hand anything over right away but instead carried a stack of copper basins with him to the bedroom door.
“Give it to me, Mu Ge!” Who taught this girl? Why did she have to end her sentences with such a lilting tone?
Mu Beiming stood there momentarily stunned before carefully placing the basins between her two fingers.
“Be careful!” He had never realized before that he could feel such a strong protective instinct toward a young girl, along with that warm feeling of care.
“It’s okay! I’ve been exercising since I was little; I’m not spoiled like a little princess!” Shen Tian Er surprisingly had quite a bit of strength as she effortlessly carried the copper basins inside.
Mu Beiming stood outside the door, dazed for a while until his brother Nan Gong floated over and waved five fingers in front of him. “That’s Shen Jingyu’s sister!”
“You should find someone else to bother! You might even keep your life!”
Mu Beiming snapped back to reality and quickly swatted Nan Gong's hand away. “Don’t talk nonsense! Watch your mouth!”
“Hey! How are you talking to your brother? Are you going to pursue her or not? This sweet little girl will be taken if you don’t act fast!” Clearly, during their brief interaction, Shen Tian Er had caught someone’s attention.
