The Dead Are Not Present

On New Year's Eve, there was not a hint of festive atmosphere in the Phoenix Student Dormitory at Beijiang University. 0

It was the winter break, and the vast majority of students had returned home. Those few who remained were mostly attending the New Year’s gala organized by the school. 0

The cold wind howled, biting at the skin. Feng Zitian walked through the desolate campus, suddenly gripped by an inexplicable sense of panic. Accompanying him was a chubby guy with black-framed glasses named Sun Lang, who was his roommate. 0

Instead of joining the school’s New Year celebrations, they had spent the entire day playing computer games in their dormitory. 0

Their other roommate, Ran Wei, had just called to invite them to go to Beijiao Park. 0

Only then did they casually leave their dormitory and head toward the campus gate. 0

Beijiao Park was about a thirty-minute walk from Phoenix Student Dormitory. Every year on New Year's Eve, the park held a grand celebration with many creative activities, attracting numerous visitors. 0

Most importantly, entry to the park was free for students of Beijiang University (as long as they brought their student ID for verification), so after tiring of their games, Feng Zitian and Sun Lang were willing to take a stroll there. 0

As they slowly made their way to the campus gate, the empty grounds were eerily quiet, as if they were the only two people left in the world. 0

Just then, a phone rang out, startling Feng Zitian and causing him to shudder involuntarily. 0

Sun Lang glanced at Feng Zitian with a teasing smile and pulled out his phone from his pocket. "It’s my phone ringing!" he said cheerfully. 0

“Hello? Wei Ge? Oh, I see! Alright, I’ll head back right away!” 0

After hanging up, Sun Lang casually tucked his phone back into his pocket and sighed twice. 0

Feng Zitian looked puzzled and asked, “What’s going on?” 0

“Ran Wei is so careless! He left his student ID in the dormitory and asked me to hurry back and find it for him!” Sun Lang seemed to be filled with frustration. 0

Feng Zitian said, “Why is he always losing things? Sigh, well, don’t just stand there. Go get it!” 0

With a sigh, Sun Lang turned around and quickly ran off. Soon, his plump figure vanished into the darkness. 0

A wave of panic washed over Feng Zitian as he instinctively glanced at his watch. 0

It was 7:44 PM. 0

Feng Zitian's heart raced, unable to calm down. He had waited for a long time, yet Sun Lang still hadn’t returned. 0

He felt a mix of happiness and worry. 0

He and Sun Lang often had small conflicts; perhaps Sun Lang had long forgotten them, but he remembered every detail clearly. If something really happened to Sun Lang, he thought he might actually feel pleased. 0

Deep down, he hated Sun Lang, sometimes wishing he could just kill him. 0

In his dreams, he had lost count of how many times he had killed Sun Lang. 0

He believed these were not ordinary dreams; he believed they were prophecies—prophecies about Sun Lang and death. 0

Could prophecies really come true? 0

He didn’t know, but he was aware that the current situation bore a striking resemblance to the scenes in his dreams! 0

The cold wind howled as Feng Zitian suddenly snapped out of his endless, chaotic thoughts. 0

He glanced at his watch; it was already 8:04 PM. 0

Twenty minutes had passed, and Sun Lang was still nowhere to be seen. 0

At that moment, Feng Zitian's phone rang. 0

It was a call from Ran Wei. 0

"Zitian, why isn't that guy Sun Lang answering his phone? Has he gotten his student ID yet?" 0

"He... he hasn't come down yet!" 0

"What? Still not down? Hurry and check on him, tell him to get a move on!" 0

Feng Zitian immediately dashed up to the seventh floor and arrived at the dormitory door. 0

The door was slightly ajar. 0

Feng Zitian's heart raced! 0

He had seen this scene countless times in his dreams! 0
