Fang Keyu looked puzzled. “When did you become the ‘Oriental Sherlock Holmes’?”
Fang Kehui smiled slightly and said, “You’re quite famous; I know about you. It just so happens that we encountered this case together, so let’s see who can solve it first!”
Xiao Wentai readily accepted. “Sure! I’m more than willing to take you on!”
Nearby, Ran Wei couldn’t take it anymore and shouted, “Hey, are you guys done? Do you really think you’re detectives? If you have questions, just ask quickly; I have important matters to attend to!”
Fang Kehui held a small notebook and a pen in her hand, clearly having recorded quite a bit already. She said, “Alright, let’s continue! First, what’s your name? Age? Gender? Place of origin? Where were you at the time of the incident?”

“During the winter break, only about twenty people stayed in the entire Dormitory Building 18, and most of them went to celebrate on New Year’s Eve. On the seventh floor, only Ran Wei, Sun Lang, and Feng Zitian from room 715, along with Jiao Tengyi from room 716, stayed behind. The only ones who remained in the dormitory on the seventh floor were those four. Jiao Tengyi from room 716 left the morning before New Year’s Eve and hasn’t been seen since. It is said that he found a temporary job during the break as a waiter at a restaurant in Dongcheng District.”
“In this case, I believe Jiao Tengyi is the prime suspect. The body was moved to room 716, and currently, only Jiao Tengyi has the key to that room. Therefore, he is the only one who could have used the key to open the door and move the body inside. His intention was merely to evade investigation, but instead, he drew suspicion upon himself. So he fled and hasn’t been seen since.”
Xiao Wentai tapped his head and asked, “What about the motive?”
Fang Kehui smiled, “I’ve already looked into that. A month ago, Jiao Tengyi had a fight with Sun Lang over a trivial matter, and Jiao Tengyi even ended up hospitalized because of it. He harbored resentment but hadn’t found an opportunity until now.”
“Finally, on New Year’s Eve, he happened to encounter Sun Lang returning to look for his student ID. Taking advantage of Sun Lang’s moment of inattention, he approached from behind and strangled him with a rope.”
