The next morning, the sunlight poured over Maple Leaf Village as usual, but the atmosphere in the village was unusually heavy. 0

News, seemingly coming from nowhere, swept through the village like an invisible wind. 0

Villagers whispered among themselves, their faces filled with surprise and concern. 0

"Have you heard? Last night, Oliver and Leon got into a fight by the creek, and it seems they even drew swords!" one villager said mysteriously to another. 0

"Really? How could that happen? They seemed to get along well," another villager replied, confusion etched on their face and curiosity in their eyes. 0

Rumors spread like ripples from a stone thrown into a calm lake. Soon, the news reached Alice's ears. 0

At that moment, she was in her yard drying herbs. Upon hearing the news, she nearly dropped her basket of herbs. 0

"How could this be? Oliver and Leon...?" Alice muttered to herself, her face a mask of shock and unease. 0

Anxious and unable to focus on the herbs in her hands, she hurried toward Oliver's house. 0

Meanwhile, Oliver had just stepped out of the village chief's home. His face was weary and serious; the events of last night had left him drained, and now the spreading rumors felt like an insurmountable challenge. He needed to find Alice quickly to explain everything. 0

Just as Oliver turned to search for Alice, she appeared right before him. 0

Their eyes met, and in Oliver's gaze, Alice saw exhaustion and helplessness. 0

"Oliver, what on earth is going on? Why are there rumors that you fought with Leon?" Alice asked anxiously, her eyes filled with concern. 0

Oliver sighed softly and led Alice to a nearby stone bench to sit down. 0

He recounted everything that had happened the previous night, from Leon's sudden attack to their fierce struggle, and finally how he had hidden Leon in the bushes before going to find the village chief. 0

Alice listened quietly, her face growing paler. She couldn't believe that Leon, whom she had cared for so deeply, could act so crazily out of jealousy. 0

"Alice, I know this is all very sudden and hard for you to accept. But I hope you can trust me; I never intended to hurt anyone," Oliver said, gripping Alice's hand tightly, his eyes filled with sincerity. 0

Alice nodded slightly, tears glistening in her eyes. "I believe you, Oliver. It's just that I never expected Leon to turn out like this." 0

On the other side of the village, the reasons behind the fight between Oliver and Leon were also being speculated by the villagers. Some believed it was over a land dispute, while others said it was due to a debt issue. But more people turned their attention to Alice. 0

"Could it be because of Alice? I heard both of them have feelings for her," an elderly woman whispered. 0

"That's possible; Alice is so kind and beautiful. It's not surprising they would be jealous of each other," another villager chimed in. 0

These rumors quickly reached Alice's ears, leaving her feeling incredibly wronged and sad. She couldn't understand why she had become the catalyst for this conflict. 0

"Alice, don't pay attention to those rumors. As long as we know in our hearts that we did nothing wrong," Oliver comforted her, gently stroking her hair. 0

However, the impact of the rumors continued to spread. Some villagers who had previously been friendly with Oliver began to harbor doubts about him. They whispered behind his back, their eyes filled with mistrust. 0

"Oliver, I feel like everyone is looking at us differently now," Alice said anxiously. 0

Oliver clenched his fists, determination shining in his eyes. 0

"Alice, we can't let these rumors bring us down. We must face this together; there will come a day when the truth is revealed." 0
