In the afternoon at Maple Leaf Village, sunlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, casting dappled shadows on the ground. Yet, this beautiful scene could not dispel the gloom that hung over Alice's heart. 0

Ever since she heard about the terrible fight between Oliver and Leon, her heart had been in turmoil, as if gripped tightly by an invisible hand. 0

Outside the village chief's small house, Alice took a deep breath, trying to calm herself, but her trembling hands betrayed her extreme unease. 0

She slowly pushed open the wooden door, and a strong smell of medicine wafted out. Leon lay quietly on the bed, his face as pale as paper, with a thick bandage wrapped around his forehead, faint traces of blood seeping through. 0

Seeing Leon in such a state made Alice's eyes well up instantly, tears spilling uncontrollably down her cheeks. 0

“Leon…” she whispered, her voice filled with endless sorrow and heartache. 0

She walked gently to the bedside and carefully took hold of Leon's hand. It was cold and lifeless. 0

“How could this happen…” Alice murmured to herself, memories of their first meeting flooding her mind unbidden. 0

Back then, despite his serious injuries, there was a determination in his eyes. Driven by kindness and instinct, she had reached out to help him without hesitation. 0

During those days of careful tending, they shared many peaceful and beautiful moments together. Those memories felt like they were just yesterday, yet now everything had changed. 0

Alice gently stroked Leon's forehead, tears continuing to fall onto the sheets. 0

“It’s all my fault, Leon. You ended up like this because of me.” She felt overwhelmed with guilt, believing that if she had noticed Leon's jealousy sooner or managed her relationships with him and Oliver better, perhaps this tragedy could have been avoided. 0

After sitting by the bedside for a long time, Alice's emotions gradually began to settle. 0

At that moment, Oliver walked into the room. Seeing Alice's swollen eyes filled him with deep sympathy. 0

“Alice, please don’t be too sad. Leon will get better,” Oliver said softly, trying to offer her some strength. 0

Alice looked up at Oliver, her eyes brimming with pain and confusion. “Oliver, I really don’t know what to do. Why did things turn out this way?” Her voice trembled with unshed tears, breaking the heart of anyone who heard it. 0

Oliver moved closer and gently embraced her. “Alice, this isn’t your fault. Don’t blame yourself. Leon was blinded by jealousy and made a terrible choice. All we can do now is wait for him to wake up and face his mistakes.” 0

Leaning against Oliver’s chest, Alice felt her tears soak into his shirt once more. She knew he was right, but the sorrow in her heart was not so easily dispelled. 0

In this unfamiliar world, both Leon and Oliver had been important to her, yet now they were caught in this terrible conflict. 0

As evening approached, the last rays of the setting sun spilled into the room, casting a soft golden hue over everything. 0

But that golden light could not warm Alice’s cold heart. 0

She remained by Leon’s bedside, staring blankly out the window. 0

“Leon, please wake up. I wish you could return to the way you were before—the kind and strong you,” Alice whispered softly, her voice filled with longing. 0

How she wished Leon would suddenly awaken and smile at her, telling her that it had all been a nightmare. 0

However, Leon continued to lie there quietly, showing no signs of response. 0

Alice's tears blurred her vision once again. 0

She knew that even if Leon woke up, their relationship could never return to what it once was. 0

This tragedy had brought an indelible pain to each of them. 0
