After the raid on the abandoned warehouse, Leon became increasingly convinced that to completely eliminate the threat posed by the mysterious forces, they must take the initiative and find the mastermind behind it all. He and Theodore discussed day and night, searching for clues from various leads, leaving no detail overlooked.
Days later, a family informant relayed news that in a secluded manor on the outskirts of town, mysterious figures clad in black robes were frequently seen entering and exiting. Furthermore, the guards at the manor had noticeably increased their vigilance recently. Upon hearing this news, a sharp glint flashed in Leon's eyes; he knew this could very well be the core stronghold of the mysterious forces.
"Theodore, we must proceed with caution this time. Their increased defenses indicate they are aware of our investigation," Leon said gravely to Theodore.
Theodore nodded, determination evident in his eyes. "No matter what, we must uncover the truth behind this. Leon, I trust you; I will accompany you on this mission."
Thus, on a moonless night with a strong wind blowing, Leon and Theodore led the family's most elite warriors stealthily toward the mysterious manor. The moonlight was faint, barely illuminating their path, and their silhouettes flickered in the darkness like ghosts moving through the night.
When they reached the vicinity of the manor, Leon signaled for everyone to stop and cautiously approached to observe the defensive layout. He noted that the main gate was tightly shut, with two guards patrolling back and forth. Every so often along the surrounding wall were watchtowers where guards armed with weapons vigilantly scanned their surroundings.
Returning to his team, Leon whispered, "The defenses of the manor are tighter than we imagined, but not impenetrable. We can infiltrate from the woods behind; the guards there are relatively sparse."
Following Leon's plan, they quietly circled around to the back of the manor. Leon took the lead and nimbly scaled the wall with ease. He then assisted each warrior in entering the manor one by one.
Once inside, Leon and his companions moved cautiously deeper into the manor. Suddenly, one guard spotted them and shouted loudly, "Enemies!" Instantly, alarms blared throughout the manor as numerous black-robed figures surged from all directions, surrounding Leon and his team.
"Just in time!" Leon shouted as he drew his sword without a hint of fear in his eyes. He charged at the enemies first, wielding his sword with fierce precision. Each strike carried immense power, and soon several mysterious figures fell beneath his blade.
Theodore and the other warriors did not hold back either; they engaged fiercely with the black-robed figures. In battle, Leon displayed exceptional combat skills and calm judgment. He deftly dodged enemy attacks while delivering precise lethal blows.
During the fight, one mysterious figure swung a long knife aimed at Leon's head. Unfazed, Leon sidestepped swiftly while blocking the knife with his sword and followed up with a kick to the figure's abdomen. The figure let out a cry of pain before collapsing to the ground.
Leon’s outstanding performance sent chills down the spines of the enemies around him. However, the number of mysterious figures was overwhelming, and their attacks came in relentless waves, showing no signs of weakening. Leon knew that this could not continue; he had to quickly uncover the mastermind behind it all to put an end to the battle.
At that moment, Leon noticed the main entrance of the manor slowly opening, revealing a man dressed in extravagant attire, flanked by a group of guards. A thought struck Leon; this man was likely the mastermind he had been searching for.
“Theodore, I’m going to confront that person. I leave this to you!” Leon shouted to Theodore before charging toward the main building.
The man noticed Leon rushing toward him and a cold smile crept across his face. “So you’re Leon? Hmph, you overestimate yourself!” With that, he waved his hand, and the surrounding guards immediately lunged at Leon.
Unfazed, Leon wielded his sword and engaged in a fierce battle with the guards. His swordsmanship grew increasingly fierce, each strike carrying a deadly threat. Under his relentless assault, the guards began to fall one by one.
Seeing his guards being defeated, the man’s expression shifted to one of terror. He turned to flee but was quickly caught by Leon. With his sword pointed at the man’s neck, Leon said coldly, “Now it’s time for you to explain everything!”
Under everyone’s watchful gaze, the man trembled as he revealed the conspiracy behind it all. It turned out he was acting on orders from another rival family, attempting to sabotage Leon and The Theodore Family's revival plans.
Filled with anger upon learning the truth, Leon understood that resolving this crisis was now his top priority. He held the man captive and walked out of the main building to announce their victory to everyone.
This battle significantly boosted Leon’s prestige within The Theodore Family and throughout the town.
