Leon and Theodore, weary and wounded after fending off the guards, trudged along the corridor until they finally found an exit, successfully escaping the ominous castle. However, they felt no relief, fully aware that they remained in danger until they uncovered the conspiracy behind their captivity. 0

The two paused in a dense forest to catch their breath. Leon looked at Theodore's fatigued face, worry etched in his features. "Theodore, how's your injury?" 0

Theodore frowned slightly as he moved his injured arm. "It's manageable; it won't hinder my movement. But what should we do next?" 0

Leon pondered for a moment before responding, "We need to find out who imprisoned us and what their motives are." His eyes reflected a resolute determination; despite the uncertainties ahead, he would not back down. 0

They decided to head to a nearby village, knowing that the tavern there would be a good source of information. To avoid drawing suspicion, they used leaves and vines to disguise their wounds and disheveled appearance. 0

By evening, they arrived at the village. The locals were busy with their own affairs and paid little attention to the two strangers. Leon and Theodore entered a tavern filled with the strong scent of alcohol, where patrons gathered around tables, drinking, chatting, or playing dice games. 0

They found a corner table and ordered two mugs of Barley Beer. Leon scanned the room and noticed a group of burly men at the next table, loudly discussing something while drinking. 0

"Have you heard? There seems to be some trouble at the castle lately," one of the men said mysteriously. 0

"What kind of trouble? Tell us!" another man urged eagerly. 0

"I heard that two prisoners escaped; apparently, they are important figures from some family. The castle guards are searching everywhere for them." 0

Leon and Theodore exchanged worried glances, their hearts tightening. They continued to listen intently without revealing their presence. 0

"Did they catch them?" 0

"It's not that easy. Those two guys are said to be quite formidable; they've injured quite a few guards." 0

Leon frowned slightly, sensing that the information these people had was limited. He needed to find someone who understood the situation better. At that moment, he noticed the tavern owner standing behind the bar, polishing a glass. 0

Leon stood up and walked to the bar, saying to the owner, "Boss, two more drinks, please." As he spoke, he discreetly placed a gold coin on the counter. 0

The owner's eyes lit up at the sight of the coin, and a warm smile spread across his face. "Sure thing, sir! You must be from out of town, right?" 0

Leon nodded. "Yes, we passed through here and heard something's going on with the castle nearby. Do you know what happened?" 0

The owner glanced around and lowered his voice. "Sir, you shouldn't go around spreading rumors. The castle's master is in cahoots with a Major Power; they've captured members of two families. It seems they're plotting something. That's all I know—just what I've heard." 0

Leon's heart sank; he hadn't expected that a Major Power was involved in this situation. "Do you know which Major Power it is?" 0

The owner shook his head. "I can't say for sure. However, I can tell you that the guards around the castle have definitely increased their presence lately." 0

Leon thanked the owner and returned to his seat, relaying the information to Theodore. Theodore's expression turned grave. "It seems we're in deep trouble." 0

Leon nodded in agreement. "Whoever is behind this, we can't just sit back and do nothing. We need to find a way to uncover the truth and strike back." 0

To gather more information, Leon and Theodore stayed in the small town for a few more days. They asked around, piecing together clues from various sources. It turned out that the master of the castle who had imprisoned them was colluding with a force that coveted their family's territory and wealth, intending to weaken their family's power by holding them captive. 0

"Leon, we can't stay here any longer. We need to hurry back and inform our family so they can prepare," Theodore said anxiously. 0

Leon agreed with Theodore's proposal, knowing that time was of the essence and their family was facing a tremendous crisis. Before leaving the small town, Leon gazed into the distance, his eyes filled with determination. "No matter how many difficulties lie ahead, we must protect our family and seek justice for all that we have endured." 0

With that, Leon and Theodore set off on their journey home. 0
