Leon and Theodore were well aware that their family's current strength was insufficient to confront the formidable Claudie Family. After completing their observations of the Claudie Family's guards, they set off on a challenging journey to seek assistance from various factions.
Their first stop was the territory of a neighboring noble family—the Moore Family. Renowned for their exceptional forging skills, the Moore Family possessed finely crafted weapons and equipment. With high hopes, Leon and Theodore arrived at the castle of the Moore Family and presented their meticulously prepared invitation.
After a brief wait, they were finally granted entry into the castle. In the lavish reception hall, the head of the Moore Family, a tall man with sharp eyes, sat in the main seat, scrutinizing Leon and Theodore.
“Leon, Theodore, I hear you have come seeking our family's assistance?” the Moore Family Head asked directly.
Leon stepped forward respectfully and said, “Yes, my lord. The ambitions of the Claudie Family are glaringly obvious; they intend to swallow our family and dominate this region. If our family falls, your family will likely be their next target. We hope to join forces with you to combat the threat posed by the Claudie Family.”
The Moore Family Head frowned slightly, pondering for a moment before responding, “The strength of the Claudie Family cannot be underestimated. But what benefits would there be for us in cooperating with you? Moreover, I have heard that your family is currently struggling for survival; how can I be sure that partnering with you won't bring disaster upon us?”
Faced with the Moore Family Head's skepticism, Theodore quickly explained, “My lord, although our family is in a difficult situation at present, we possess unwavering determination and tenacity. Once we defeat the Claudie Family, we will surely share the fruits of victory with your family. Furthermore, we have developed a detailed battle plan that gives us a fair chance of success.”
However, the Moore Family Head remained hesitant. Seeing this, Leon decided to demonstrate his sincerity. He took out a carefully drawn map from his pocket, which detailed the defensive layout of the Claudie Family and highlighted their observed weaknesses. “My lord, this is intelligence we have painstakingly gathered, and we are willing to share it with your family. We sincerely hope to establish cooperation with you to safeguard peace and tranquility in this land.”
The Moore Family Head took the map and examined it closely. After a long silence, he looked up and said, “I see your sincerity, but this matter is significant; I need to discuss it with my family's core members before making a decision. Please return in three days for an update.”
Although they did not receive a definitive answer, Leon and Theodore did not feel discouraged. They understood that persuading a family to participate in such a perilous battle was no easy task.
After leaving the Moore Family, they headed towards a tribe known for its exceptional horseback archery skills. This tribe lived on vast grasslands where their cavalry was remarkably powerful.
Leon and Theodore rode across the prairie for quite some time before finally locating the tribe's camp. The tribe's leader was a burly man with a full beard who welcomed Leon and Theodore warmly. However, upon hearing their request, he revealed an expression of difficulty.
"Leaders, it's not that I don't want to help you. Our tribe has always upheld a principle of neutrality and wishes to avoid getting involved in the disputes among the nobility. Moreover, the power of the the Claudie Family is too great; if we rashly participate, it could bring disaster upon our tribe," the Tribe Leader said helplessly.
Leon spoke sincerely, "Chief, we understand your concerns. However, the ambitions of the the Claudie Family have already threatened the peace of the entire region. If we do not unite against them, it is only a matter of time before they extend their grasp toward your tribe. We are not asking for your tribe to engage directly in battle; we simply hope to borrow your tribe's archery and cavalry techniques to train our soldiers and enhance our combat capabilities."
The Tribe Leader fell into deep thought after hearing Leon's words. Theodore seized the moment and added, "Chief, we can offer generous rewards in exchange. Furthermore, once we successfully repel the the Claudie Family, our family will establish a long-term friendly cooperation with your tribe for mutual development."
After much deliberation, the Tribe Leader finally relented. "Alright, given your sincerity, I can send some experienced riders to help train your soldiers. But our tribe will not directly participate in combat; I hope you understand."
Leon and Theodore were overjoyed and quickly expressed their gratitude to the Tribe Leader. In the following days, they continued to traverse between various factions. Despite facing numerous rejections and difficulties, they never gave up.
With each rejection, they reflected on their experiences, adjusted their strategies, and sought out the next potential partner. They understood that their family's fate rested in their hands; only through relentless effort could they secure a glimmer of hope for their clan.
