“Yellow Talisman summon, first level Yellow Talisman ~ Fire Spell!”
Suddenly, a flame erupted out of nowhere, charging fiercely towards Xu Shen. Without a moment's hesitation, Xu Shen waved his hand to block it, and the fire was instantly swatted away by his palm.
“Damn it, this is insane!”
The Yellow Robed Woman quickly scooped up the nearby Female Disciple and dashed out of the alley, disappearing from sight.
“Uh, I just wanted to ask for directions!”
Xu Shen sighed, not expecting that as a dignified Underworld Messenger, he would be mistaken for a ghost. How embarrassing!
Stepping out of the alley, Xu Shen glanced around and was surprised to find that the formation had conveniently brought him to his intended destination: Yanzhou.
“Li Family Town, this should be the place!”
Approaching the entrance, Xu Shen knew that normally, an Underworld Messenger should not be seen by others, so he had already made himself invisible.
Once inside, he walked through the living room and headed towards the bedroom. There lay an elderly woman with a hunched back on the bed, gasping weakly for breath. She clutched a picture frame tightly, wanting to say something but unable to produce any sound due to her hoarseness.
“Soul Hook!”
With a flick of his hand, a chain with a hook appeared in Xu Shen's grasp. He tossed it, and the hook plunged into the old woman's body.
At that moment, her entire life flashed through Xu Shen's mind. The elderly woman's name was Liu Lihua; she had given birth to a son who married young and had a daughter. However, Liu Lihua despised her granddaughter and truly desired a grandson. When her granddaughter turned five and she saw that her son and daughter-in-law had no plans for more children, Liu Lihua secretly took her granddaughter to a remote place and abandoned her there.
When this act was discovered, her son and daughter-in-law fell out with her and ceased to support her. Thus, Liu Lihua spent the last ten years of her life in solitude until she finally passed away today.
“Greetings, Lord Messenger! ” Liu Lihua's ghost bowed towards Xu Shen, hunched over.
"There's no need for formalities. Your time has come; follow me to your next life," Xu Shen said. To be honest, he held a certain disdain for people like her.
"Lord Messenger, please wait! I still have an unfulfilled wish!"
Liu Lihua suddenly knelt on the ground, crying as she pleaded, "In my life, I have wronged my granddaughter. Please let me see her and apologize to her in person!"
"Well..."
Xu Shen hesitated for a moment. He looked up at the photo frame in Liu Lihua's hands, now lifeless. Inside the frame was a lovely little girl, and the fingerprints on either side indicated that Liu Lihua truly missed her granddaughter, showing that she indeed felt remorse.
"Alright, I'll take you for a visit."
Xu Shen touched his token, which emitted a blue light. In an instant, he brought Liu Lihua's spirit to a small courtyard.
A middle school-aged girl was cleaning the yard, but she couldn't see Liu Lihua or Xu Shen.
"Yuan Yuan! Yuan Yuan! I'm so sorry!"
Liu Lihua suddenly collapsed to the ground, crying out to the girl named Yuan Yuan, repeatedly apologizing.
"Enough now; the time has come. We must be on our way!"
