She quickly shook her head, dismissing the impractical thought.

"Mom, I wasn't thinking anything inappropriate; it's not like you think." He was still hung up on what had just happened and genuinely feared what Lin Zhen might say about it.
"Oh come on, Mom understands! It's puberty! When you see a girl you like, of course you want to look at her more," she said, patting Xu Nancheng's hand to show she truly understood, after all, she had been there too.
Maybe back then, Xu Zhao was also staring at Lin Zhen.

Xu Nancheng listened to his mom's rambling but couldn't argue back; it was all experience after all.
He could only respond with an occasional "mm," since he had never pursued a girl before and knew nothing about it.

He thought to himself, wow! His mom actually supports his early romance; she might be the only one in the whole city!
Lin Zhen had completely gained Xu Nancheng's trust. He decided to let her be his confidante. "Mom, what should I do next? Can I just tell her?"
He had just heard that Lin Menghan liked him too, so he could just say it!
"Why are you in such a hurry? You've only known each other for a few days!" She patted the back of Xu Nancheng's hand and reminded him that there was no need to rush things.
