Lin Menghan didn't even glance in that direction, merely casting a disdainful look at Zhou Yuxuan. "Hmph! I won't fall for that again. I've already been tricked once today."
Just then, a figure walked in, and Lin Menghan was so engrossed in her own things that she didn't notice. Zhou Yuxuan, however, remained silent, eager to see Lin Menghan get tricked again.
"Lin Menghan, I'm here to pick you up!" A male voice called from behind her. The moment she heard it, she perked up; there was no need to guess who it was—Xu Nancheng.
She quickly turned around and saw Xu Nancheng standing there. "Ah! Nancheng!" Her face lit up with joy, but she refrained from hugging him. After all, she had just been bullied by Zhou Yuxuan today; if she hugged him now, she'd be too embarrassed to show her face here tomorrow.
"Um! Lin Menghan! Can we go now?" Xu Nancheng also didn't initiate a hug, considering there was an outsider present. It wouldn't be appropriate, especially since this person would continue to be part of their lives.
Lin Menghan hesitated for a moment, glancing at Zhou Yuxuan. She still wanted to gauge her boss's mood before responding.
Zhou Yuxuan, as Lin Menghan's boss and friend, was understanding. "Alright, let's go! It's closing time. Be careful on your way home! Bye!"
"Thank you, Sister! Bye!" Lin Menghan beamed with happiness; finally, she could leave and be close to Xu Nancheng!
"Let’s go, Nancheng!" Lin Menghan took Xu Nancheng's hand and walked out.
Xu Nancheng wasn't oblivious either; he turned back and quickly said, "Thank you for taking care of her, Sister. Goodbye!"
"Goodbye!" Zhou Yuxuan watched Xu Nancheng leave and couldn't help but smile to herself.
Once outside the shop, they finally reached a place where no one else was around.
Suddenly, Xu Nancheng felt a tightness in his body as something soft pressed against him. "Huh? What’s going on?"
It turned out to be Lin Menghan beside him. Seeing that the coast was clear, she darted to the side and hugged Xu Nancheng tightly, burying her head in his chest. "Nancheng! I missed you!"
"Mm! I missed you too, Lin Menghan!" It had been a while since he had smelled her scent. Xu Nancheng leaned down slightly; his nose brushed against the top of her head as he gently embraced her back.
They held each other for a long time. Xu Nancheng wanted to kiss Lin Menghan but remembered how tired she must be after working all day. He gently pushed her back a little to create some space and looked into her eyes with concern. "Lin Menghan, are you hungry?"
"Um, just a little!" As soon as food was mentioned, Lin Menghan realized she was indeed hungry; her voice dropped to a whisper.
At this time, Ying Cheng was still relatively lively with some shops still open.
"Lin Menghan, let’s grab something to eat so you don’t get too thin!" He slowly took her small hand and caressed it gently while speaking with warmth and care.
"Mm! Yay!" Lin Menghan's face lit up at the mention of food; she loved eating!
In the end, they found a restaurant that was still open and had a simple meal together.
By nearly ten o'clock, Lin Menghan dragged her weary body home while Xu Nancheng held her hand the entire way. At this moment, Xu Fu and Xu Mu were sound asleep since they had nothing going on; it was just the two of them in their little world.
After all, there wasn't much to do tonight. After a long day of work, it was time to take a break. Lin Menghan tossed her bag aside and collapsed onto the sofa, sighing in relief. The comfort that washed over her made her reflect on how exhausting it had been to work all day; even with breaks, fatigue lingered.
Xu Nancheng, on the other hand, was full of energy after a day of fun. He bounced over to Lin Menghan's side, looking eager. "Hey, do you want me to give you a shoulder massage?" he asked. It was unusual for him to offer such a thing; he had never done it before. His thoughts were influenced by the novels he read.
Of course, his intention wasn't just to help Lin Menghan relax; he also wanted to be close to her. Since they started dating, his mind was often occupied with thoughts of her, and he found himself neglecting even his math studies.
It was infuriating to admit that even if he didn’t study, his grades wouldn’t drop.
"Wow! Nancheng, you're becoming more thoughtful!" Lin Menghan's eyes sparkled as she got up. "I’m going to take a shower first; I’m all sweaty."
"Of course! After all, you are my precious Han Bao! Why don’t we shower together?" Xu Nancheng said playfully as he headed toward the bathroom. He didn’t actually mean they should shower together; he just wanted to freshen up.
Their home had two bathrooms, so while Lin Menghan took her shower in one, Xu Nancheng went to the other to wash up.
"Nancheng, you’re being inappropriate! I won’t talk to you anymore! If your parents find out, they’ll break your legs!" Lin Menghan threatened jokingly. Her parents were her strongest card in this playful banter.
"That won’t happen! My mom knows I like you, and she supports our relationship," Xu Nancheng replied honestly, recalling what Lin Zhen had told him that day.
Lin Menghan's face turned red instantly. "What? Your mom knows? What should I do now? It’s so embarrassing that your parents know I’m dating their son!"
Xu Nancheng shook his head. "She doesn’t know we’re dating because she doesn’t want me getting too close to you." He didn’t tell Lin Zhen the whole truth simply because she wouldn’t allow him to be too forward.
"That’s not right! That means we can’t be together at all! Never! And no peeking either! Otherwise, I’ll personally take out your eyes!" Lin Menghan’s face flushed with embarrassment; she felt bold today.
"I’m just kidding, Lin Menghan! I’m not that kind of person," Xu Nancheng quickly explained, shaking his head earnestly. He wasn’t pursuing her just for her looks; he genuinely cared for her and wasn’t the type to take advantage of anyone.
"Nancheng, you’re definitely not!" Before stepping into the bathroom, Lin Menghan shot him a warning glance.
After finishing her shower, Lin Menghan sat beside Xu Nancheng and tilted slightly so he could massage her shoulders.
Xu Nancheng wasted no time placing his hands on her shoulders, alternating between gentle and firm pressure as he worked on them.
Feeling the comfort radiating from his touch, Lin Menghan closed her eyes and savored the moment.
"Nancheng, have you ever given massages to other girls before?" she asked playfully. She truly felt relaxed and couldn’t help but inquire.
