"Boss, let's make a cake!" Dai Yan was speaking at that moment, while Shen Yaoqi was linked to his arm.
"What do you want?" Dai Yan looked down at Shen Yaoqi, a hint of indulgence in his tone.
Lin Menghan had only glanced over casually, but she was instantly taken aback. She lost interest in watching further. "Chen Yi Ge!"
Chen Yi replied almost immediately.
"??? Sister, where are you seeing this?" His message was accompanied by several angry emojis.
Lin Menghan realized what was happening and quickly sent a voice message: "Chen Yi Ge, calm down!"
Of course, she knew he couldn’t possibly stay calm; after all, his girlfriend had run off with his rival. What could he possibly do to remain composed? She just wanted him not to act impulsively.
"How the hell can I stay calm? I'm coming over right now!" His tone was filled with rage. This was the first time he had ever cursed in front of Lin Menghan; usually, he presented himself as the gentle older brother.
Chen Yi noticed that Lin Menghan didn’t tell him where she was, but he recognized the location from the photo. They had been in close contact for the past two weeks, so he knew which shop Lin Menghan worked part-time at. Based on the background in the picture and his quick thinking—even in his fury—he realized they were at Lin Menghan's cake shop.
They weren’t far apart; it would take just over ten minutes to walk there, or a few minutes if he rode a shared bike.
At that moment, Lin Menghan couldn’t stop him and decided to call Xu Dong as well. As for Xu Nancheng, bringing him along wouldn’t help much; if a fight broke out by accident, she would probably have to protect him.
Just as she felt flustered and unsure about what to do next, Zhou Yuxuan’s voice rang out from outside. "Menghan Sister, can you come help me?"
Upon hearing that name, Dai Yan and Shen Yaoqi froze for a moment and exchanged glances. They both saw disbelief and a hint of panic in each other’s eyes.
Lin Menghan’s mind went blank; being asked to go out at that moment felt mortifying. Moreover, if Dai Yan did something unexpected, it wouldn’t be something she or Zhou Yuxuan could handle!
But she had no choice but to go out since her name had been called. She swallowed hard and took a deep breath as if preparing for battle, then resolutely walked outside. She deliberately avoided looking at the two of them as if they weren’t there at all.
As she stepped into the outer room, she happened to catch Dai Yan and Shen Yaoqi's gaze.
At that moment, their eyes reflected different emotions; Dai Yan saw nothing but hostility and disgust in Lin Menghan’s eyes, while Shen Yaoqi’s were filled with awkwardness, panic, and shock.
The three of them exchanged glances without saying a word. The shop fell into an instant silence for a brief moment. However, Zhou Yuxuan remained oblivious and teased Lin Menghan instead. "Lin Menghan, you're a bit slow! Hurry up and get me two eggs."
Lin Menghan was cracking eggs while responding, "Oh dear, I got a bit distracted. Zhou Yuxuan won't be upset, will she?"
Upon hearing this, Zhou Yuxuan exclaimed, "What? No way! It's just that I don't want my little money to end up in my sister's pocket!"
"You're threatening me! I'm going to call my brothers to come and cause a ruckus!" Lin Menghan pouted. She was just joking around, completely unaware that her two brothers were already rushing over.
Of course, Shen Yaoqi and Dai Yan were also oblivious to the situation.
As the baking was about to wrap up, a figure burst in, throwing a punch straight at Dai Yan. "Dai Yan, you idiot!"
Dai Yan turned around but was caught off guard and received a punch right in the face. He stumbled back and fell to the ground, completely shocked that someone would dare to hit him in public.
Shen Yaoqi glanced at Dai Yan, who was on the floor wiping his mouth in confusion, then looked at Chen Yi, whose face was twisted with rage as if he were ready to kill. Panic set in as he stood there, unsure of what to do.
Just as Chen Yi was about to lunge forward to continue beating Dai Yan, another figure rushed in—Xu Dong. He grabbed Chen Yi and dragged him out of the store. "Chen Yi, calm down!"
Lin Menghan hurried after them, pulling on Chen Yi's arm. "Wait! We haven't even figured out what's going on yet!" She didn't want him to get into trouble for hitting someone.
Chen Yi struggled against Xu Dong's grip, his face flushed with anger. "That bastard hit me! What do you mean we haven't figured it out? I don't care about losing face right now!" But he soon realized that his protests were futile.
It was inappropriate to fight in public, especially in a place owned by acquaintances.
"Chen Yi! Just calm down for a moment!" Xu Dong held Chen Yi tightly, preventing him from moving. He knew Dai Yan had acted wrongly, but it was crucial not to let Chen Yi escalate the situation.
At that moment, Dai Yan had gotten back on his feet and charged toward Chen Yi, clearly ready for a fight. Seeing this, Shen Yaoqi couldn't remain calm either; fearing things might spiral out of control, he quickly grabbed hold of Dai Yan.
