Dai Yan bit her lip, her eyes gleaming with menace as she spoke in a low voice, "Let go of me!" Her tone was laced with threat.
Shen Yaoqi, genuinely afraid of what he might do, quickly urged, "Let's talk this out. No need to fight."
Zhou Yuxuan, though still unclear about what had transpired, understood the urgency of stopping the fight and hurriedly pulled at Dai Yan. But with a swift motion, Dai Yan shook her off, causing Shen Yaoqi to stumble and fall to the ground, tears welling in her eyes as she looked up at Dai Yan and Chen Yi. Zhou Yuxuan nearly toppled over as well from the force of the push.
Dai Yan merely glanced down at Shen Yaoqi and muttered an apology before continuing toward Chen Yi.
Seeing this unfold, Lin Menghan felt a surge of anxiety and began shouting for help, "Someone! There's a fight! Come quick!"
However, the bystanders were slow to react. In an instant, Dai Yan grabbed Lin Menghan by her shirt and with a swift motion, sent her crashing to the ground. Lin Menghan felt a burning pain on her cheek as she hit the ground, scraping her arm in the process.
"You little snitch! This is all your fault!" Dai Yan yelled furiously, ready to unleash more blows on Lin Menghan, but was quickly restrained by several nearby men.
Xu Dong could no longer stay calm. "Chen Yi! You've gone too far! Now you're even hitting his sister!" His composure shattered, he released Chen Yi and charged forward alongside others to intervene. Unfortunately, they were also quickly subdued by enthusiastic bystanders.
After much effort from everyone involved, both groups finally reached a temporary agreement to refrain from fighting. Once Dai Yan and Shen Yaoqi left, Xu Dong immediately called Xu Nancheng. The phone rang twice before it connected.
Before Xu Nancheng could speak, Xu Song shouted loudly into the phone, " Nancheng! What are you doing sitting there? Your sister! Your girlfriend! She's been attacked!"
Xu Nancheng's face flushed with anger upon hearing this. "What is going on? Where are you?" he demanded. Realizing that Lin Menghan was also being targeted made him furious. He slammed his hand on the table in frustration.
"At my sister's workplace!"
"I'm on my way!" Xu Nancheng hung up and rushed downstairs without even checking if he had locked the door behind him. He dashed out on a shared bike.
"Lin Menghan! What happened?" Xu Nancheng shouted as he arrived outside the store but couldn't see anyone yet.
Inside the store, several people resting turned their attention to Lin Menghan, wondering if she would be attacked in front of Xu Nancheng—would he lash out at anyone who dared to hurt her?
Finally hearing Xu Nancheng's calls and seeing him rush inside made them all tense. He ignored everyone else and ran straight to Lin Menghan, squatting down beside her and grabbing her hand. "Lin Menghan, are you okay?"
Lin Menghan glanced at the unfriendly faces around her and forced a smile despite feeling pressure mounting within her. She reached out to ruffle Xu Nancheng's hair reassuringly. "I'm fine; just got hit once. It's just Chen Yi..."
As she spoke, her gaze drifted toward Chen Yi. At that moment, Chen Yi sat slumped in a chair with his back hunched low, elbows resting on his knees as he tugged at his hair. Tears streamed down his face onto the floor; he looked utterly defeated.
Xu Nancheng finally noticed Chen Yi's heartbroken state and felt concern wash over him but hesitated to say anything given how distraught Chen Yi appeared.
Dai Yan, that bastard, he made me furious! Chen Yi's head was still low, his hand gripping his hair tighter, breathing heavily, his chest rising and falling dramatically. It was easy to imagine his face was flushed with anger, likely wishing he could kill someone like Dai Yan.
Xu Dong hurriedly patted his back gently, trying to calm him down. "Yi Ge, take it easy!"
Hearing this, Xu Nancheng clenched his fists as well, but in the end, he could only let out a deep sigh. He truly feared Dai Yan; at that moment, he felt utterly powerless against him.
The others didn’t pay much attention to Xu Nancheng and continued to persuade Chen Yi for quite a while until he finally calmed down.
"Alright, let's go. We shouldn't disturb Zhou Yuxuan any longer!" Chen Yi said with his head lowered. He realized that starting a fight here was not only inappropriate but also troublesome for her business.
So he turned to Zhou Yuxuan and bowed slightly. "I’m sorry for the trouble this time."
Zhou Yuxuan merely smiled and replied, "It's nothing! Just make sure you don’t fight casually in the future." She wasn’t just saying this lightly; she genuinely worried that their impulsiveness could lead to serious trouble.
"Okay! Thank you, Zhou Yuxuan." His voice remained low as he turned and walked out on his own.
Xu Dong followed along, genuinely concerned that Chen Yi might lash out at someone in her shop.
Just as Xu Nancheng was about to leave, he noticed Lin Menghan hadn’t followed them. He turned to her and asked, "Lin Menghan, aren’t you coming?"
She waved her hand and smiled. "I have things to do, Nancheng. You go ahead!"
"But hey, I should stay and help out too. Zhou Yuxuan won’t mind, right?" He glanced at Zhou Yuxuan again, wanting to make sure it was alright since it was her shop.
