Xu Nancheng always seemed to be a beat behind, while Lin Menghan was constantly throwing herself into the spotlight. No matter how much he tried to escape or hide, he could only awkwardly watch them.
His face flushed, and seeing Lin Menghan nearly die of embarrassment made him hastily change the subject. "So, are you planning to go to Guangcheng for some fun?"
Chen Yi, who had been watching the scene unfold, immediately turned his head. "Where? Guangcheng? Nancheng, you’re really stepping up!"
"What do you mean by that?" Xu Nancheng asked, confused by Chen Yi's comment.
Chen Yi quickly explained, "Sometimes I feel like you're really clueless, and other times it seems like you're pretending to be clueless. You never used to go out and have fun!"
Before Xu Nancheng could respond, Wang Xinyue chimed in, seemingly shocked. "Wait, what? You’ve never traveled before? I can’t believe there’s someone so boring out there! And the key is that such a good-looking girl like Lin Menghan is completely devoted to you!"
Xu Nancheng didn’t see anything wrong with that.
" Nancheng, what made you want to go out today?" Xu Dong asked, puzzled. This wasn’t typical behavior for him.
But he would soon understand.
Xu Nancheng didn’t engage further; instead, he gently patted Lin Menghan on the shoulder a few times and said softly, "Alright, Lin Menghan, no more hiding!"
Upon hearing this, Lin Menghan cautiously peeked out from behind her hands. When she saw they weren’t teasing her anymore, she finally dared to lift her head.
At that moment, Xu Dong realized why Nancheng had changed—it was all because of Lin Menghan. He could only scratch his nose and think to himself that he wouldn’t ask any more questions!
Chen Yi ran his fingers through his hair and sighed deeply as if he had a story to tell. "Well, it’s good for me to get out and clear my head; I’ve been through too much lately."
"Yeah," Nancheng said, "If you’re asking if I want to go, then of course I’m in!"
Lin Menghan turned to Wang Xinyue, her eyes bright with excitement. "Are you going too?"
"What are you all planning to do?" Lin Menghan asked eagerly.
"Do you have any ideas?" she continued, wanting everyone’s input since Wang Xinyue had already asked.
Chen Yi spoke up casually. "I’m fine with anything as long as it’s fun."
Then Xu Dong chimed in after checking his pockets. "I don’t have many demands—anything works for me as long as my wallet isn’t too empty."
"Alright then, Brother Xu Dong," Lin Menghan said cheerfully. "We can keep it low-cost! What about you, Xinyue?"
Wang Xinyue shook her head and sighed repeatedly without saying much. Lin Menghan couldn’t help but wonder why she was sighing so much.
"Just say something! You’re young; why are you sighing every day?" Xu Dong frowned at her frequent sighs.
She lightly nudged Xu Dong beside her and said, "What I mean is! Can’t you boys have a bit of an opinion? Why is everything so casual? I think we should do something thrilling—how about roller coasters or bungee jumping? Sounds exciting, right?"
Xu Dong immediately covered his face with one hand; it was too embarrassing to be spoken to like that by a girl.
Xu Nancheng instantly perked up, his eyes shining as he stared at Wang Xinyue. "Wang Xinyue, you and I are on the same wavelength! What a coincidence!" But then he quickly shut his mouth and glanced at Lin Menghan's expression. What if she misunderstood and got jealous?
Fortunately, Lin Menghan didn't seem upset at all. Instead, she looked at him with a puzzled expression before suddenly bursting into laughter. "Nancheng, what kind of expression is that? It's so cute! Chen Yi Ge, can I borrow your phone?"
"Sure thing, sis!" Chen Yi pretended to reach for his phone, wanting to give Xu Nancheng time to compose himself. Little did he know that Xu Nancheng was just standing there in a daze. Xu Nancheng wasn't foolish; he realized Lin Menghan wanted to take an embarrassing photo of him. But what did it matter? If his little girlfriend wanted to take silly pictures, so be it. As long as she was happy, that was what mattered.
Seeing him like this, Chen Yi felt helpless and sighed inwardly. This guy was in deep trouble; if they ever broke up in the future, he might just want to end it all! Reluctantly, he pulled out his phone and handed it to Lin Menghan.
She snapped a few pictures, laughing joyfully as she looked at them. "Nancheng, look at this one!"
Xu Nancheng grinned foolishly and nodded. "As long as you like it, Lin Menghan! Even if that picture isn’t particularly handsome."
In the blink of an eye, it was already October 1st, and they were all set to go out for some fun. Lin Menghan also had the day off from work, thanks to Zhou Yuxuan granting her leave.
"Nancheng, are you ready? It’s time to head out!" Lin Menghan called out as she wore the white dress she had on when she first arrived. She jogged over to Xu Nancheng's room.
Just as Xu Nancheng finished changing and opened the door, he froze upon seeing Lin Menghan standing there.
