You gently turned around, and my world brightened a little. You are the wind that rushes in under the glow of the setting sun, the warmth that lingers for a moment in my palm. You paused briefly, and my story gained an additional plot.
Xu Nancheng closed his eyes, feeling the melody, and softly sighed, "This song is so beautiful!"
"Mm!" Lin Menghan replied gently.
Xu Nancheng continued to ask, "What's the name of this song?"
"I'll share the playlist with you," Lin Menghan said with a smile, glancing at Xu Nancheng's profile.
Xu Nancheng responded with his eyes still closed, "Okay." He wished time could stay in this moment; even the usual days felt beautiful.
The two of them listened to music along the way, and time flew by. An hour passed, and they arrived in Guangcheng.
As soon as they got off the bus, the cool breeze of October greeted them.
"Wow! Guangcheng is definitely more bustling than Ying Cheng!" Xu Nancheng remarked, looking at the taller buildings that loomed over Ying Cheng.
Chen Yi adjusted his glasses and replied, "After all, Guangcheng is part of a major city; it's normal for it to be more prosperous than Ying Cheng."
Xu Dong made a face of disdain and even stepped back a bit. "Do you really think you look that good? Don't think I don't know you!"
"Hey, I'm talking to you!" Wang Xinyue hurried over, brushing her forehead. "Alright, alright! I really don't know how you guys can be so sharp-tongued and still hang out together."
"Mind your own business!" both of them retorted in unison before bursting into laughter.
Lin Menghan walked up behind Wang Xinyue and mercilessly pointed out, "This is what friendship among guys looks like; you wouldn't understand!"
"Do you understand?" Lin Menghan waved her hand dismissively. "I don't get it either!"
Wang Xinyue huffed, "What are you pretending for?"
"Cough, cough! Alright, alright, we haven't had breakfast yet. Let's find a place to eat," Lin Menghan interrupted the conversation, unwilling to let herself be at a disadvantage.
After arriving at their destination, everyone unanimously decided to start with the least thrilling ride and gradually work their way up. The first suggestion was the carousel.
Wang Xinyue's face fell in displeasure as she stomped her feet in frustration. "What? Are you kidding me? Who goes to an amusement park to ride a carousel?!" Chen Yi and Xu Dong weren't interested either. "What kind of big boys play that? Let's leave it for those young couples!"
Lin Menghan shook her head; she wasn't interested either. The carousel went round and round, and if love were to repeat itself like that, it would lose its meaning!
Xu Nancheng chimed in, "Lin Menghan makes a good point! I'm all for what Lin Menghan says!"
The group collectively groaned, "You hopeless sycophant, get lost!"
Thus, the carousel, bumper cars, and teacups were cast aside; no one wanted to play those. They headed straight for the most thrilling rides.
Of course, it had to be the roller coaster! You can't visit an amusement park without riding one! Everyone was excited, scrambling to get in line first. Since there weren't many people in the city, the lines were short, and they quickly reached the front. When the staff opened the gate, Wang Xinyue was so thrilled that she jumped onto the train-like ride first. Xu Dong, Xu Nancheng, and Lin Menghan followed behind her, with Chen Yi bringing up the rear.
"Hey son! Aren't you scared? Sit up front!" Xu Dong shouted back.
Chen Yi scoffed, "Who are you calling scared?"
Seeing Chen Yi's bravado, Xu Dong ignored him and turned his attention to Wang Xinyue. He was genuinely curious; she looked so small yet was eager for the most thrilling ride.
"Wang Xinyue, are you really this brave? You're much better than that guy Chen Yi!" Xu Dong praised her while subtly putting Chen Yi down.
Wang Xinyue felt uncertain; she had never ridden something like this before. She sheepishly replied, "I guess it's okay."
As Lin Menghan listened to their banter nearby, she suddenly heard Xu Nancheng's gentle voice—slightly trembling—"Lin Menghan, are you scared? If you are, just pinch me."
Lin Menghan felt a warmth in her heart. Although she thought she wasn't scared at all, she didn't want to hurt Xu Nancheng's feelings. She turned her head and smiled at him. "Nancheng, you're so sweet!"
Just then, the staff finished checking the equipment and gave the signal that everything was normal. The little train started moving slowly towards the high point.
