At this moment, as the thrill approached, everyone's hearts began to race wildly. Xu Nancheng noticed Lin Menghan's lips trembling slightly, and he quickly reached out to grasp her cold, trembling hand.
Feeling his touch, Lin Menghan instantly felt a sense of support and her panic began to subside. Meanwhile, Xu Dong, still curious, called out, "Hey! Wang Xinyue, aren’t you scared? If you are, just hold my hand!"
"I'm not scared! Who's scared?" she retorted defiantly.
As the roller coaster crested its highest point and plunged downwards, the sensation of weightlessness combined with the rush of wind enveloped the riders. Everyone started screaming, their heart rates reaching their limits.
Before long, Wang Xinyue fell silent; her head was upright, but her face bore a look of sheer terror. Time seemed to stretch on indefinitely until the little train finally came to a stop. The group collectively exhaled in relief, gasping for breath.
Xu Nancheng looked over at Lin Menghan with a trembling voice, "Menghan, are you okay?"
At that moment, Lin Menghan felt as if she might faint from fright. After a long pause, she turned and burst into tears. "I was so scared! Boohoo!"
"Don't cry!" Xu Nancheng hurriedly reached out to comfort her.
"Wang Xinyue, you really aren't scared? You didn't even scream back there," Xu Dong panted as he admired Wang Xinyue's bravery.
But she didn't respond; her gaze remained blankly fixed ahead. Xu Dong tilted his head in confusion and gently patted her shoulder. "Wang—"
Suddenly, she jolted awake as if she had been asleep, startling even Xu Dong.
He looked at her in disbelief; it wasn't that she wasn't scared—she had been completely stunned! Her mind had gone blank from the fright.
Meanwhile, Chen Yi sat there with a dazed expression, feeling utterly ignored. "Why is no one checking on me?"
Soon after, everyone began to support each other as they walked out, still immersed in the adrenaline rush they had just experienced. They felt that this was the most thrilling thing they had ever done in their lives!
Once outside, Lin Menghan clung tightly to Xu Nancheng's embrace and occasionally let out soft whimpers. Although he too felt shaken by the experience, he patiently patted her back to soothe her fears.
"Hey! Wang," Xu Dong said as he noticed Wang Xinyue’s ghostly pallor. Just as he was about to tease her a bit more, she suddenly dashed over to a nearby trash can and began to vomit. He was left speechless.
After Wang Xinyue finished throwing up and felt better, Chen Yi approached her and said mockingly, "You just said you weren't scared? Who said they wouldn't ride the carousel? Wang Xinyue, you’re definitely only suited for these kinds of rides!" He laughed while handing her a bottle of water.
Wang Xinyue gulped down some water and felt embarrassed; she needed to redeem herself. "That was just an accident! The drop tower! Let’s go again!"
"Hey! No one said you're useless, Wang Xinyue! Just let it go, and don't cause any trouble later!" Xu Dong was genuinely worried that she might create some unexpected chaos.
Wang Xinyue turned her face away, a subtle curve appearing on her lips. The others exchanged glances, their expressions darkening. Why did she have to be so stubborn?
Forget it! Xu Nancheng was concerned about Wang Xinyue, but more importantly, he was worried about Lin Menghan. So they decided to stick to sightseeing; this was definitely not something they, as timid individuals, would dare to engage in.
After some discussion, they soaked in the vibrant atmosphere of the red banners around them. As young citizens of the country, this little holiday felt meaningful.
In the afternoon, Chen Yi, Xu Dong, and Wang Xinyue planned to head home since there was nothing else for them to do and no need to continue accompanying the young couple. At the station, Xu Dong and Chen Yi pulled Xu Nancheng aside to discuss something quietly. Seeing this, Wang Xinyue quickly dragged Lin Menghan away as well.
They placed their hands on Xu Nancheng's shoulders. Xu Dong spoke up, " Nancheng, tonight is different from other nights; you need to keep your composure!"
Xu Nancheng understood what Xu Dong meant, and his face instantly turned red. "Xu Dong! No way! I know my limits!" In truth, he was just a bit too innocent when it came to Lin Menghan; all he thought about were sweet kisses and nothing beyond that—he had never considered anything else.
