Xu Shen slowly stood up, forcing himself to use every ounce of strength to stabilize his legs, which felt weak and trembled uncontrollably. He leaned against the door handle, gazing into the distance at the strange entity before him.
At that moment, he noticed Li Yingxue in the mirror, her expression mirroring his own confusion. When she saw the entity bound by a peculiar light, she seemed unfazed by Xu Shen's presence. Instead, she floated out of the mirror, moving toward the woman who was restrained, her face displaying a look of bewilderment as if she found the situation equally strange.
However, as Li Yingxue approached the woman, the latter reacted violently, baring her teeth like a rabid animal and warning Li Yingxue to stay away. It was as if she was threatening her with dire consequences if she dared to come closer.
After witnessing this scene, Xu Shen felt an unexpected sense of relief wash over him. Perhaps it was because this bizarre behavior confirmed one thing: the woman who seemed rabid was not allied with Li Yingxue. At least this realization provided Xu Shen with a sliver of safety.
Despite this small comfort, Xu Shen maintained his composure. He thought it might be best to let the two of them turn on each other; after all, his life was paramount. He had no intention of concerning himself with others' fates. Gradually, he began to move toward the door. Although these two were not on the same side, there was still a chance they could be similar in nature; otherwise, how could they both appear at once? If they had formed some sort of alliance, it would spell disaster for him.
He even found himself too preoccupied to worry about Xiao Li, who remained unconscious on the ground. Xu Shen considered leaving him behind as a sacrifice; after all, what good was he as a security guard if he chose to faint in such a critical moment?
The events of that day had left Xu Shen feeling utterly exhausted and perplexed. The only thing he felt grateful for was his good physical condition; had he been mentally unstable, facing such terrifying and bizarre occurrences might have caused him to faint like Xiao Li.
Cautiously, Xu Shen moved toward the door in an attempt to escape. However, just as his hand touched the door, a chill ran down his spine.
Suddenly, Li Yingxue appeared right in front of him with a sinister smile on her face. "I didn't expect you to be such a good actor," she said mockingly. "You almost had me fooled. What would I do if you managed to escape?"
