Su Mingxian felt her head buzzing, waves of pain coursing through her body, while shouts and the cries of a child echoed in her ears.
"You wasteful little thing, how dare you steal food! I'll make you eat, I'll make you eat! Are you itching for a beating?"
Kicked to the ground, Su Mingxian struggled to open her eyes just a crack. As the scene before her became clearer, she stood frozen in shock and disbelief.

In a panic, she lunged forward like a mother protecting her child, barely managing to catch her daughter just in time. If even a second had passed, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
The gleaming knife lay ominously behind her daughter. In her previous life, she had been pierced in the lung because she couldn't dodge in time. As soon as those words left her mouth, a firewood stick came flying at her. She couldn't dodge in time and it struck her squarely on the forehead, causing her to fall outside the door.
"Ouch! You heartless wretch! How dare you hit me? I—"
But before she could finish, the daughter-in-law who had always been submissive suddenly transformed before her eyes, her gaze icy enough to freeze someone.
"Who are you calling heartless? Say it again! Are you really hoping I’ll go out and steal a man just to put a green hat on Shen Chi? What are you really scheming?"
