In the rural area, conditions were limited, and there was no swimming pool. So, when the weather turned hot, the children of Nanping Village loved to swim in the Mother River that flowed through the village. If they brought a bar of soap from home, it could also count as a bath.

With a splash, Li Qiang dove into Mother River like a fish. His sudden leap sent water splashing all over Guo Yuzhen, soaking her completely.
“You little brat! You tricked me with a cucumber and now you’ve drenched me! If you have the guts, come back here! I’ll settle the score with you!” Guo Yuzhen exclaimed angrily, standing up with one hand on her hip and the other holding a stick, looking quite fierce.
Li Qiang popped his head above the water, spitting out some water and chuckling. “Aunt Yu Zhen, don’t be mad! Once you see what I have for you, you’ll definitely be happy!”
Seeing him still so cheeky only fueled Guo Yuzhen’s irritation. She thought to herself that this little rascal hadn’t even matured yet and still wanted to fool her. If she didn’t teach him a lesson today, she wouldn’t be named Guo!
“Fine, I won’t hit you this time. But if you can’t show me something good, don’t blame me for turning against you!”
