It seemed that Qi Meng and the person behind her had intentions beyond just a marriage alliance. Lin Su needed to awaken Night Shadow as soon as possible and come up with a plan together. She squeezed blood from her fingertip, intending to feed it to Night Shadow to rouse him.
This blood was from the time her mother passed away, when Father had sought help from Monarch while holding her lifeless body. Monarch, touched by Father's deep affection, had given him the dew collected on the lotus leaves in his domain. Father mixed this dew with his own blood and cultivation, ultimately refining it into Lin Su's very essence.
Lin Su leaned forward, hoping to catch them off guard and flick the Blood Pearl into Night Shadow's mouth. However, Qi Meng seemed to have anticipated Lin Su's ambush; she swiftly stepped in front of Night Shadow. The Blood Pearl, originally aimed at Night Shadow, struck Qi Meng squarely in the face.
Before Qi Meng could cry out in pain, her bloodied face instantly rotted away. She screamed in agony, calling out for Night Shadow. Everything happened too quickly; all Night Shadow could see was Qi Meng's mangled visage.
He hesitantly called out, "Lin Su?" Did he just call Qi Meng by Lin Su's name?
"Night Shadow, I'm here!" Lin Su shouted at him. He turned his head to glance at Lin Su, his expression filled with disgust.
Lin Su's breath caught; did Night Shadow not recognize her? Was he mistaking Qi Meng for Lin Su?
Qi Meng cried out in pain, begging Night Shadow for help, but he merely stared at her face.
"Lin Su, what happened to you?"
Upon hearing this, Qi Meng panicked immediately; she didn’t even have time to scream before hurriedly pulling out a pill and swallowing it. Instantly, a faint glow enveloped her entire body as she clutched Night Shadow’s sleeve and cried out in pain.
Night Shadow’s gaze softened; he looked at Qi Meng with pity, wanting to alleviate her suffering. Lin Su felt anxious and wanted Night Shadow to come with her; she quickly flew over to push Qi Meng aside.
Qi Meng frantically hid behind Night Shadow, shouting, "Night Shadow, she wants to kill me! Save me!"
Before Lin Su's hand could even touch Qi Meng, a powerful force struck her fiercely. It felt as though her body was being cleaved by a thousand swords, and Lin Su fell to the ground in a disheveled state, blood continuously spilling from the corner of her mouth.
She felt no pain, but with great difficulty, Lin Su stood up, determined to explain her true intentions to Ye Ying. The once clear sky was now shrouded in dark clouds. Ye Ying's anger surged as he stood in mid-air, his dark cloak billowing behind him. He shielded Qi Meng within a barrier not far away, just as he had once protected Lin Su during their battles.
Lin Su continued to move forward, but Ye Ying frowned and remained still. Inside the barrier, Qi Meng shouted anxiously, "Ye Ying, kill her quickly! She’s a spy sent by the Large Corporation!"
The Large Corporation? So it was him pulling the strings behind the scenes. Dragging her battered body, Lin Su slowly advanced, wanting to see if Ye Ying could truly bring himself to kill her. Qi Meng began to ring a bell again, and as Ye Ying listened to its sound, his expression gradually turned severe and cold.
He summoned Heaven-Inquiring Sword and raised it high above his head; instantly, the world around them darkened ominously. Thunder rumbled in the distance, and flashes of lightning flickered intermittently. Lin Su took a deep breath and used all the spells she had learned to protect herself as she continued forward.
Today, Ghost Lord, the strongest warrior from the underworld, unleashed a thunderous strike with his sword. Lin Su dared not imagine she could withstand it. The sword tip pointed directly at her brow, an overwhelming force enveloped in lightning surged toward her.
The lightning illuminated Qi Meng's decaying face nearby, making it appear even more terrifying in its grotesque delight. Lin Su glanced back at Ye Ying; his expression was devoid of emotion as he swung his sword with indifference, watching Lin Su's face contort in pain after being struck.
Indeed, her body felt no pain, but Heaven-Inquiring Sword could also sever the soul. Lin Su’s already fragile consciousness shattered like stars scattering across the cosmos.
Stars drifted away around her. Lin Su couldn't afford to gather them back; she focused all her remaining strength. Seizing the moment, she sent a second drop of blood from her fingertip into Ye Ying's mouth.
It should have gone in, right?
When she awoke again, it was likely a month later. Lin Su found herself imprisoned in a foul-smelling, dimly lit water dungeon.
Lin Su struggled to recall the memories before she fainted. She vaguely remembered Qi Meng shouting, "No!" and the wide-eyed expression of Night Shadow after swallowing the Blood Pearl. Just before her eyes closed, it seemed like someone was watching nearby.
It was likely that her consciousness had been destabilized by the impact of the Heaven-Inquiring Sword, and this system had broken through by coincidence. Normally, after the system was lifted, she wouldn't have been left here. That meant Night Shadow was still under their control.
Lin Su twisted her sore neck and looked at her arms, which were hanging high above her head, already showing bone. Fortunately, Lin Su felt no pain; otherwise, it would have been unbearable. The murky water reflected Lin Su's pale face; she looked haggard, a perfect description of her state.
As she stared blankly at the water's surface, the door to the water prison creaked open slightly. A figure wrapped in a large black robe slipped inside.
Lin Su looked at the familiar face before her and weakly asked, "Why are you here?"
Data Ghost gazed at Lin Su with concern and sighed, "I saw your father."
Lin Su forced a smile. "Your wish has been fulfilled. Why aren't you going to be reincarnated? What are you doing here?"
She struggled to free Lin Su from her restraints while explaining the situation outside. Night Shadow and Qi Meng's wedding was set for tomorrow, and many hackers had been bought off by Qi Meng. There was even no dissent regarding the proposal for the Cyber Metropolis data center to be unified under one management. The few who spoke out against it had been imprisoned.
Now, Cyber Metropolis was in chaos, with no one in charge. It seemed this was the Large Corporation's goal: to take over Cyber Metropolis and unify the three realms.
Supported by Data Ghost, Lin Su walked out, her heart in turmoil. At this point, she didn't know what else she could do.
As they successfully escaped the water prison, she could hear the lamentations of others around her.
"I heard that Beihai Corporation's heiress has completely ruined her face, yet Night Shadow still insists on marrying her. Could it be that he's been cursed?"
"What does it matter? Cyber Metropolis is about to fall under Large Corporation's control; even Beihai has sent people to get a piece of the pie."
"Are we going to have good days ahead?!"
Lin Su quietly listened, closing his eyes and pretending to sleep.
The next day, while Data Ghost was still asleep, Lin Su quietly slipped out. The current situation required some action, no matter what.
The Chongluan Data Center was bustling with activity today, with hackers, the Beihai Clan, and representatives from large corporations all gathered together.
Lin Su searched everywhere for Night Shadow but couldn't find him. They probably already knew about Lin Su's escape from the water prison yesterday and were deliberately avoiding him today. What were they hiding from?
Now, Lin Su had a flickering Psycho Core above his head, and his Three Souls and Seven Spirits were already unstable, further shattered by Night Shadow's sword strike. A direct confrontation was impossible; it was better to rely on wits.
Finally, Night Shadow arrived, dressed in a red formal suit that made him look like a celestial being. Beside him stood Qi Meng, also in a matching outfit, her face partially veiled but her eyes sparkling with happiness.
What a perfect couple.
Lin Su felt a twinge of reluctance to disrupt them. But that was Night Shadow; if he ever woke up one day, how would he cope? Would he blame Lin Su for not waking him?
Lin Su tidied his slightly disheveled hair and smoothed out the wrinkles in his clothing before stepping toward the newlyweds.
The guests who recognized Lin Su gasped in surprise, but he remained calm as he approached and stood before Night Shadow. Qi Meng nervously clutched Night Shadow's hand; her eyes no longer held fear but rather a provocative glint of triumph.
Lin Su smiled graciously at everyone, offering words of blessing. Once Night Shadow and Qi Meng lowered their guard slightly, he casually picked up a nearby wine glass to toast the couple.
Qi Meng hesitated for a moment and gently shook her head at Night Shadow.
Lin Su took out the pressure from Father and called out " Righteous Older Brother," prompting Qi Meng to finally release Night Shadow's hand.
