In the scorching summer, the subtropical maritime monsoon climate gently blows, alleviating some of the heat for Beihai, a port city located on the northeastern coast of the Gulf of Tonkin at the southwestern tip. 0

Here, winters are not harsh, and summers are not sweltering. The region boasts abundant marine resources and is rich in subtropical fruits and plants. Most notably, it is home to silver beaches made of fine white quartz sand, renowned as the "First Beach." Many tourists from around the world flock here, with some even dubbing it the "Hawaii of the East." 0

Southwest Aviation Technology University is situated in this coastal city and has long been a prestigious institution in the country. 0

The blazing sun casts dappled shadows on the branches and leaves of the campus, creating a poetic summer atmosphere. In this moment, countless students gathered here are tirelessly immersed in the ocean of knowledge. 0

No one dares to break the peaceful tranquility. In the largest classroom on the first floor of the teaching building, Professor Li, in his fifties and wearing a pair of old-fashioned glasses, is delivering a lecture. Dressed simply and of slender build, he pales in comparison to the tall blackboard behind him filled with dense formulas. 0

All students are fully focused on listening to him and taking notes. Professor Li’s lectures are engaging and humorous while maintaining a meticulous rigor that captivates the two to three hundred students present, leaving them spellbound. 0

Today’s lesson centers on an analysis of the origins of cosmic dust. 0

“According to statistics, cosmic dust is the fourth largest source of dust on Earth. This dust significantly impacts our planet's environment and climate. Approximately one ton of cosmic dust enters Earth every hour, and a single cloud of dust orbiting the sun at a speed of 100,000 kilometers per hour brings millions of kilograms of dust to Earth each year. Based on my personal analysis…” 0

Just as Professor Li was about to delve deeper into his topic, the serene classroom was interrupted. 0

“Knock! Knock!” 0

A series of knocks echoed from outside the classroom. 0

“Excuse me.” 0

A voice called out. 0

Professor Li turned towards the sound, and all students in the classroom looked toward the door. There stood two young military officers in crisp uniforms, appearing to be just over twenty years old—handsome and imposing—which immediately sparked whispers among several female students in the classroom. 0

The officers glanced at Professor Li at the podium with a hint of apology. 0

“May I ask… is this Professor Li Mingtai?” 0

One officer held a folder, flipping through some documents before looking up at Professor Li standing at the podium, clearly comparing information to confirm accuracy. 0

Professor Li closed his book and walked to the door, somewhat bewildered as he asked in return. 0

“Hello, may I ask what you need from me?” 0

Li Mingtai looked past the two officers, noticing armed guards standing in the corridor outside. 0

One of the officers, a Captain, saluted Professor Li and introduced himself, “Hello, we are from the 41st Army. Please come with us.” 0

Professor Li still wore a puzzled expression and asked, “What is this about?” 0

“Please come with us. We will explain everything shortly,” another Captain urged without any hint of sympathy. It was clear that no matter how much Professor Li tried to refuse, they would find a way to take him along; he just didn’t understand why. 0

After a moment of thought, Professor Li realized he hadn’t done anything wrong. Why would the military be looking for him? Even if he had made a mistake, it should be the police who came for him, not the military. 0

“Professor Li, please come with us. Time is of the essence; we will clarify things on the way,” said the first Captain again. 0

It sounded like there was indeed something urgent that required his attention. After considering it further, Professor Li nodded and replied, “Alright, just wait a moment; I’ll go with you.” 0

With that, he turned back to the podium to gather his things and glanced at his students, who were all looking at him with confusion and curiosity. 0

“Class dismissed, everyone,” he said before following the two officers out of the classroom. 0

As soon as he left, the classroom erupted in chatter. Various discussions and rumors began to circulate—some speculated that Professor Li had been reported for inappropriate behavior, while others suggested he was a scientific madman discovered by the military. In reality, no one knew why he was being taken by military personnel. 0

Professor Li was led to a military Jeep, followed by two military trucks. The soldiers, fully armed and ready for action, swiftly climbed onto the trucks as the convoy rolled out of the campus. 0

Once outside the campus, the convoy wound along a coastal highway. Inside the vehicle, Professor Li found himself sandwiched between the two officers, feeling more like a captured fugitive than anything else. This discomfort was compounded by shock when they entered the highway; it was completely clear except for their convoy—there wasn’t even a single car in sight! 0

Clearly, the entire highway had been sealed off. What could be the reason? The more he thought about it, the more confused and anxious he became; he hadn’t done anything illegal or against regulations. 0

“Could you please let me out of the car?” Professor Li requested. 0

“I’m sorry, Doctor; we cannot let you out at this time. The highway is currently under lockdown,” one Captain replied firmly without room for negotiation. 0

“This…” Professor Li was at a loss for what to do; he couldn’t fight them off and certainly couldn’t jump out of the car to escape. 0

Suppressing the restlessness in his heart, Professor Li could only resign himself to the unease as the convoy continued to accelerate. After a while, they arrived at a heavily guarded military airport. 0

Once they disembarked, Professor Li was immediately flanked by two young officers who escorted him to a military helicopter that had been waiting on the tarmac. Amidst the roar of the rotor blades, he was lifted away from the port city where he had lived for nearly a decade. 0

After nearly two to three hours of turbulent flight, the helicopter landed late at night. As soon as he stepped off the aircraft, the two captain officers handed him over to a composed officer in his thirties. Professor Li deliberately glanced at his insignia and noted that he was a major. 0

The major saluted him with a standard military gesture and said, "Dr. Li, thank you for your hard work. Please follow me." 0

It was only then that Li Mingtai noticed his surroundings. Aside from the stern soldiers on guard, this place resembled a military base. The outlines of the mountains loomed in the distance, obscuring much of the terrain, but it was clear that this was a specially constructed mountain bunker base. 0

He was escorted by the major and soldiers into the largest mountain bunker base ahead. The scale of the facility surprised Li Mingtai; he never expected such a massive structure could be built domestically, and it was equipped with remarkably comprehensive facilities. 0

Inside, the vast base was brightly lit, with various aircraft taking off and landing continuously, along with military trucks, tanks, and even ballistic missile vehicles coming and going! 0

This was undeniably a well-equipped military base! 0

But what exactly was this place? Why had they brought him here? Professor Li's mind was filled with questions. 0
