Li Mingtai was led into the base by the Major, passing through a long corridor and several gates, until they reached an elevator. The elevator descended to the eighth underground level, where another lengthy passage awaited. At the end of this corridor was a door, which the Major opened and gestured for Li Mingtai to enter. 0

As Li Mingtai stepped inside, he was taken aback to find that it was a large conference hall, resembling a grand lobby. To his astonishment, the room was already filled with many people, who seemed too preoccupied to notice the newcomer at the door. 0

Pushing up his glasses, Li Mingtai stood there feeling somewhat dazed. 0

“Dr. Li, please find a seat at the front,” a female voice suddenly called out from behind him. 0

He walked toward an empty seat at the front and glanced up at the woman who had just entered. She was a striking figure with long black hair parted down the middle. A pair of delicate round glasses perched on her freckled nose, and she held a thin cigarette between her lips. Dressed in a light green military shirt with her uniform casually draped over her shoulders, she exuded an air of nonchalance. Two subordinates followed her in, carrying several folders; they placed the documents beside her before retreating to guard the door. 0

Li Mingtai noticed the insignia on her uniform—she was a Colonel! It was surprising that such a seemingly delicate woman held such a rank; she must possess remarkable abilities. 0

The woman approached the table and clapped her hands, calling out, “Quiet! Quiet!” 0

Instantly, the entire conference room fell silent, all eyes turning to her. 0

“Good evening, everyone. You are all distinguished elites in the field of scientific research. I have summoned you here under urgent circumstances that require immediate attention!” 0

Li Mingtai's heart raced inexplicably. This was it; ever since he entered, he had been holding back his questions, waiting for this woman to reveal why he had been brought here. 0

“I am in charge here and belong to the ‘Dragon Totem’ Outer Space Research Institute. This is our Southwest Division Base.” 0

With that, she snapped her fingers, and the lights in the conference hall dimmed automatically. Suddenly, a projector began displaying images on a light screen that appeared on one side of the room. 0

“Ladies and gentlemen, what you are about to see is highly classified military information. Any leaks will result in severe consequences under military law for violations against national security.” 0

With a crisp snap of her fingers, silence enveloped the grand hall once more. The only sound was the faint buzzing of the projector as everyone held their breath, including Li Mingtai. 0

Click. 0

The projector began displaying its first slide, gradually magnifying an image on the screen as if viewed through a microscope. 0

Everyone looked on with curiosity, eager to know what the Colonel was up to. As they finished viewing the photos, they all widened their eyes in disbelief! 0

“What is this…?” someone exclaimed in shock. 0

“Look, this… it’s simply miraculous!” 0

Some even stood up abruptly, pressing their hands against their chests to suppress their excitement and astonishment. A few were eager to lean closer to the screen for a better look. 0

Displayed on the screen was a high-definition photo taken in outer space. On the left side was a massive planet, mostly milky white with a yellowish hue. In the center-right, countless irregular gray-black asteroids floated in the vast, desolate void. However, the focal point of the photo was on the right side: a half-submerged, dark reflective rectangular metallic object. 0

With a click, the projector switched to another high-definition image. In the asteroid belt, a diamond-shaped black spaceship lay quietly; if one didn’t examine it closely, they might mistake it for an asteroid. 0

From the photo, it was clear that the main body of this spaceship was severely damaged, as if it had endured some tremendous impact and had been utterly shattered. Surrounding it were many fragmented black components and space debris. 0

“This is a photo transmitted back by the Mars Exploration Program Satellite ‘Firefly One’ early this morning,” said the Colonel. “It is located in the asteroid belt between Jupiter and Mars. It suddenly appeared there a few days ago, as if someone had placed it there!” 0

“That’s Mardek Planet…” 0

Everyone turned to see who had spoken; it was Li Mingtai. 0

The Colonel glanced at Professor Li and affirmed, “That’s right, it is Mardek Planet. The existence of that planet has sparked countless debates among scholars. Some even boldly theorize that it suffered some great catastrophe that caused it to disintegrate rapidly into what is now this asteroid-laden region, which is also where we discovered this ancient giant ship!” 0

As soon as she finished speaking, the conference hall erupted in chaos. 0

The existence of an ancient airship wreckage in a shattered planetary region raised questions: Did Mardek Planet truly exist? Was there once a highly advanced civilization more developed than Earth? 0

The attendees buzzed with discussions, their shock palpable; after all, this was official news and could not be mistaken. 0

“Everyone!” The Colonel called out loudly, clapping her hands to regain silence. All eyes turned to her as she continued. 0

“Russia and America will soon learn about this flying ship wreckage. It hasn’t existed for nearly a decade, yet suddenly it appeared there as if someone had deliberately placed it. We have even received faint special distress signals. The higher-ups have approved us to swiftly initiate the Zhonghua Ark Project. We must reach and land on this ancient giant ship before Russia and America do!” 0

“That’s impossible… How could a spaceship be placed there?” an expert immediately countered. “Even if it were possible, the surrounding levels of nuclear radiation would make it impossible for anyone to get close.” 0

“Logic dictates that it is impossible, but…” the Colonel looked at the expert, stood up straight, and addressed everyone in the room calmly, “This is also why you are all here.” 0

“This is absolutely impossible!” 0

“Let us go back!” 0

“Go back? Do you really think they ‘invited’ us here? Do we have any choice? Don’t be naive!” 0

“Madmen! A bunch of madmen!” 0

The Colonel ignored the roars and accusations from the elite crowd. She turned and walked out with an air of indifference, paying no mind to the heated debates and noise erupting in the conference room. 0

Meanwhile, Li Mingtai sat in his seat, murmuring to himself, “Could it be that the Tidius sequence is real? Is it possible that Mardek Planet actually exists? It could be like this, it could be like this…” 0

The commotion in the conference room drowned out his excited, almost frenzied mutterings, and no one noticed what his words truly represented. 0
