Ye Bo looked at his parents and sister, feeling a whirlwind of emotions. He didn't understand how their family had come to this point. Anger bubbled within him, but more than that, he felt helpless and heartbroken. With a sigh, he quietly left the room. 0

Back in his own space, Ye Bo took out his phone and dialed Ye Ya's number. At that moment, Ye Ya was enjoying a meal. When she saw Ye Bo's call, she answered it despite her reluctance to connect with anyone from the Ye Family, except for him. 0

"Hello, Ye Bo, what's up?" Ye Ya asked, biting into a chicken wing. 0

"Sis, I'm apologizing on behalf of Mom. Please don't hold it against her," Ye Bo said as he adjusted his black-framed glasses. 0

"It's fine. I'm doing well now; you don't need to worry about me." Today was a mixed bag of emotions for Ye Ya. She had been forced by her grandfather to get an abortion and even kicked out of the Ye Family. It was her Xiao Ma who had orchestrated all this. If she said she wasn't upset at all, it would be a lie. 0

For Ye Ya, despite not wanting to admit it, they were still her family. Hearing from Ye Bo made her start to forgive Zhao Meiqin's harshness; after all, she had such a brother. 0

After hanging up the phone, Ye Ya returned to savoring her food. She picked up a parenting book and began reading intently. With no prior experience in this area, everything felt like starting from scratch—what to pay attention to during pregnancy, what foods to avoid, and what to consider when giving birth; all these were lessons she needed to learn. 0

Initially filled with anger, her mood calmed as her hand gently rested on her belly. Once she decided to keep the child, nothing else mattered as much as the baby. 0

That night, under the cover of darkness, Ye Ya armed herself from head to toe before daring to step outside. She feared that reporters from all over the city were searching for her. In such turbulent times, buying groceries felt like an operation straight out of the underground resistance during the Nationalist era. 0

After gathering enough supplies for two days, Ye Ya carefully returned home. Only once she crossed her threshold could she truly relax. 0

Having forgotten her phone when she left, she received several calls from work. She returned Xiao Guo's call to discuss some matters before turning off her phone. The Ye Family wouldn't collapse without her; besides, her grandfather had already sent someone regarding her marriage issues and there was no need for her to worry. 0

Hearing Xiao Guo's tone earlier made Ye Ya chuckle softly. How could she let such things get to her? After all these years in the Ye Family, it was impossible for her not to have developed some resilience. 0

Half a month later, the buzz surrounding Ye Ya and the Jing Family began to fade. The Ye Family publicly severed ties with her as she had anticipated; for the sake of the company's reputation, her grandfather's handling of the situation was understandable. 0

During this time, Ye Ya hardly stepped outside. The most pressing issue now was finding a job; after all, having a child meant she couldn't afford to be carefree anymore. 0

However, every resume she sent seemed to vanish without a trace. Eventually, she learned that her grandfather had indeed spread word among industry peers about her situation. Coupled with recent news coverage about her, no company dared to hire her. 0

Sitting at home feeling incredibly frustrated, Ye Ya wondered if leaving Ning Cheng was the only option left for her. But where else could she go? At least staying here meant she didn't have to worry about housing for now. 0

Counting the days, Ye Ya once again arrived at the hospital, hoping to check on the health of her child, wishing that the recent troubles had not affected the baby. 0

This time, Ye Ya listened intently, taking notes on what the doctor advised. The doctor recognized her; anyone who had seen the news about Ning Cheng would likely know who she was. 0

The doctor looked a bit surprised. "Miss Ye, are you really planning to keep this child? Do you know how they are reporting about you out there?" 0

Ye Ya smiled gently but said nothing, merely nodding firmly. The reports outside had nearly exposed all her secrets—rumors of promiscuity and being a returned item from a wealthy family had tarnished her reputation in Ning Cheng. 0

That's how reporters operate; in their quest for a valuable story, they would dig up anything, even family skeletons. This incident was not something the Ye Family could take pride in. If it weren't for Ye Zhen's discreet assistance, it might have been much harder to navigate through this situation. 0

Leaving the hospital, Ye Ya was unaware that a crowd was snapping photos of her and even following her home. She remained oblivious to their presence. 0

It wasn't until the next morning when she opened her computer that she was startled by the headlines: "High Society Young Lady Rushed to Hospital for Abortion." 0

"You’re the one getting an abortion; your whole family is getting an abortion!" Ye Ya felt furious. Damn it, these reporters just wouldn't let her go! Just as she was feeling despondent, a call came from the management office informing her that many reporters were trying to rush upstairs for interviews. 0

At that moment, Ye Ya cursed those reporters and their ancestors. She had already severed ties with the Ye Family; why were they still hounding her? She feared she might not even be able to stay here any longer. 0

After some thought, she realized that leaving Ning Cheng to avoid the storm was her only option. After a month or two, the reporters would likely lose interest in her situation; otherwise, she wouldn’t even be able to step outside. 0

Resolute in her decision, Ye Ya decided to return to her mother’s hometown where her aunt lived. She hoped this would provide her with a temporary refuge. 0

Without delay, Ye Ya packed a few clothes and quietly slipped out through the stairwell of her building. When she reached the entrance of the complex, she saw that group of reporters still buzzing around like flies downstairs. 0

Upon arriving at her mother's small town, all she had were childhood memories. Her grandmother had long passed away, and now only her aunt Zhou Fang remained in this town. 0

When Ye Ya arrived at Zhou Fang's house, she found her aunt cooking dinner. Surprised to see Ye Ya, Zhou Fang exclaimed, "Xiao Ya! Why didn’t you let us know you were coming? We could have picked you up!" 0

"Auntie, I’m sorry! I decided to come suddenly and didn’t have time to inform you. You’re not mad at me, are you?" Ye Ya felt a bit embarrassed. The house looked much like she remembered but had been renovated and appeared tidier. 0

"Don’t say such silly things! Just put down your things and come eat. Your uncle will be back soon," Zhou Fang said as she urged Ye Ya to sit down while she busied herself in the kitchen, preparing a couple more dishes. 0

At the airport, Lu Tianyang stepped off the plane, and a flashy yellow stretch Porsche was already waiting outside. His assistant grabbed his luggage and opened the car door for him. The interior was designed like a small lounge, and the assistant took out a drink from the mini-fridge. 0

Lu Tianyang casually picked up a newspaper placed to the side. As a businessman, he instinctively turned to the financial section first. However, as he flipped through the pages, a figure caught his eye. When he reached the entertainment section, he was shocked to see a detailed report about Ye Ya going to the hospital for an abortion. A wave of anger surged within him, making it feel like his lungs were about to burst. Was that child his? 0

If that child was indeed his, what right did she have to terminate it? His grip on the newspaper tightened, crumpling it in his hands. 0

“Zuo Kai, find out everything about this woman immediately. I want to know her recent activities as well,” Lu Tianyang said through gritted teeth, his demeanor shifting from that of a refined gentleman to someone entirely different, startling his assistant Zuo Kai. 0

Peeking over, Zuo Kai replied, “Sir, this woman has been the hottest topic in town recently. She was just dumped by the Jing Family and has also been kicked out by the Ye Family. Ye Zhen even issued a statement severing ties with her.” 0

As Zuo Kai spoke, he pulled out a newspaper from a few days ago and showed it to Lu Tianyang. 0

“Find this woman for me right now, no matter what it takes,” Lu Tianyang commanded, slamming his hand down on the small table in front of him. The drinks on top toppled over. Zuo Kai realized the gravity of the situation but couldn't understand why his boss was so furious over this news. He remembered that Lu Tianyang had little interaction with her—if any, it was only at that banquet hosted by the Jing Family. 0

“Understood. I’ll get right on it,” Zuo Kai said quickly, not daring to waste any more time. Having worked with Lu Tianyang for long enough, he knew better than to provoke him when he was in such a volatile mood. 0

Back home, Du Huiru hadn’t seen her son for over half a month. Noticing his low spirits, she couldn’t help but ask, “Lu Tianyang, are you tired from your long flight?” 0

“Mom, I’m fine. By the way, did Jing Hao really break off his engagement with Ye Ya?” Lu Tianyang found himself asking this question without knowing why. 0

“Of course he did! What kind of woman would be worthy of marrying into our family? Anyone who marries her would bring misfortune upon themselves,” Du Huiru scolded before becoming slightly anxious. Her son never asked about women; she felt a twinge of concern. “Lu Tianyang, why are you suddenly asking about her?” 0

“Well, Jing Hao is my cousin after all. I’m heading upstairs now,” Lu Tianyang replied irritably. The thought of Ye Ya only added to his frustration. Once in his room, he opened up the news articles again and felt increasingly troubled. 0

Was she doing okay? 0

Leaning back in his chair and clearing his mind, he tried to gather his thoughts. He vividly remembered that night with Ye Ya; at her age in this day and age, it was rare for someone to remain untouched. How could she be such a woman? 0

But why did she go to nightclubs? Did she really terminate their child as reported? 0

Was he really so inferior compared to Jing Hao? If that child was his, why didn’t she come looking for him? Even if he didn’t want to marry her, she could have easily demanded a large sum of money from him for their child. This woman—he realized—was someone he couldn’t see through at all. 0

Zuo Kai had exhausted all his efforts and finally found the whereabouts of Miss Ye. He immediately called Lu Tianyang. 0

“Zuo Kai, have you found her?” Lu Tianyang had calmed down by now, but his tone remained icy, like sharp ice in the polar regions. 0

“President, I’ve located her. Miss Ye has gone south, and I’ll send you the address,” Zuo Kai said while wiping the sweat from his brow. He couldn’t fathom how important this woman was to make the usually composed Lu Tianyang lose control like this. After a moment of thought, he asked, “President, do you need me to send someone to bring her back immediately?” 0

“No need. I’ll handle this myself.” With that, Lu Tianyang hung up the phone. Looking at the address on his screen, he felt an urgency; he had to confirm whether that child was still there and if it was indeed his child. 0

Du Huiru was instructing the kitchen to prepare Lu Tianyang’s favorite dishes when she saw him hurriedly descending the stairs. Unable to hold back, she asked, “Lu Tianyang, where are you off to? Dinner will be ready soon.” 0

“Mom, I have something urgent to take care of. You and Dad can enjoy dinner with Grandpa. I’ll be leaving now,” Lu Tianyang replied before Du Huiru could reach him. 0

Lu Old Man emerged with his cane. “Lu Tianyang, where are you going? Didn’t you just come back?” 0

“Dad, he said he has something to deal with. Let’s eat; don’t worry about him,” Du Huiru said, feeling frustrated but helpless. 0

Lu Tianyang drove out the Hummer from the garage and headed straight for the address Zuo Kai had sent him. 0
