Ye Ya rubbed her backside, still feeling the sting from the fall earlier. It was all that bastard Lu Tianyang's fault. If he hadn't deliberately played tricks on her, she wouldn't have ended up like this.
She couldn't help but touch her lips, her face still burning with embarrassment. Just thinking about it made her feel mortified. Ye Ya buried her head in the blanket, growing increasingly agitated.
Tossing and turning, unable to sleep, Ye Ya got up to check on the child. She stepped into the living room to pour herself a glass of water and noticed that the tall figure of the man was curled up on the small sofa.
As the leader of such a large company as the Lu Family, Ye Ya could only imagine how busy he must be. She had to admit that this man was indeed exceptional; under his leadership, the Lu Family had reached new heights.
Now, for her and Chen Chen, he was willing to stay in her small house and even endure her sarcastic remarks. Ye Ya began to wonder if this man was truly worthy of her trust.
She walked over and noticed that his blanket had fallen to the floor. Without thinking much of it, she covered him back up. This was definitely not out of concern for him; she was just worried that if he got sick, he might pass it on to Chen Chen.
Just as she turned away, her hand was suddenly grabbed. Ye Ya spun around and glared at him. "Were you doing that on purpose?"
Lu Tianyang sat up from the sofa and rubbed his sore shoulder. "I didn't mean to, Xiao Ya. You're always wronging me; you're being unfair."
Ye Ya tried to pull her hand away, but his grip was too strong, like an invisible force surrounding her, leaving no escape.
"Let go of me," she said, wanting to flee. She feared that one day she might get lost in his gaze and be unable to pull herself back; Lu Tianyang was too intimidating.
"I won't let go; not ever," Lu Tianyang insisted stubbornly. Even if the whole world opposed marrying her, he wouldn't waver. Ye Ya was already his.
"Lu Tianyang, let me go! You shouldn't stay here tomorrow; just go home," Ye Ya said, unsure when it had become so difficult for her to remain calm around him.
"I won't go back; I want to stay with you unless you agree to marry me," Lu Tianyang declared firmly. He was convinced that this woman didn't actually dislike him that much—at least not when he kissed her tonight; she seemed to enjoy it.
“I’m begging you, just go back,” Ye Ya thought she felt like an ant on a hot pan.
“Xiao Ya, unless you give me a reasonable explanation,” Lu Tianyang insisted, holding onto her.
“Lu Tianyang, I can’t think clearly with you here; you’re clouding my judgment,” Ye Ya sighed, speaking the truth.
“Why do I affect you? Look, you won’t even let me sleep in the bed,” Lu Tianyang found her reasoning utterly unconvincing and couldn’t accept it.
“Just go back for now, okay? Let me think things over. This back-and-forth isn’t helping,” Ye Ya realized that this man was not easily persuaded. Perhaps if he went home and the novelty wore off, he would find it uninteresting, and then she wouldn’t have to worry anymore.
“How long do you need to think, Ye Ya? I’ll tell you now, I can’t wait that long,” Lu Tianyang knew she was contemplating their future, which meant she was starting to soften—this was a good sign.
“Lu Tianyang, are you even human? When you go shopping, don’t you compare prices? Why are you being so unreasonable?”
“What do you mean by comparing prices, Ye Ya? Have you started liking someone else?” Hearing her talk about comparing options made Lu Tianyang’s voice rise sharply; he couldn’t believe there were other men around her.
“I haven’t! I just meant that when buying something, you should consider whether to buy it or not. With you acting like this, I don’t know what to do,” Ye Ya grew increasingly frustrated.
“Do you really want me to go back? Are you willing to let me?” Lu Tianyang raised an eyebrow. If she dared to bring his daughter into liking someone else, he would make sure that man paid dearly.
“Narcissist! You should go back tomorrow. Besides, your family doesn’t like me; I can’t ignore that. You need to handle it yourself,” Ye Ya felt a headache coming on just thinking about their future.
“Fine, I’ll go back tomorrow. You think it over—marrying me will definitely be worth it,” Lu Tianyang said cheerfully as he pulled her into a tight embrace.
Ye Ya pushed him away. “You need to shave.” After saying that, she escaped from his arms, locked the door behind her, and went into her room. Suddenly, she remembered she needed to get some water.
Thinking of this, she couldn't help but slap her forehead. What was she thinking? However, parting like this was for the best; it would allow her to seriously consider the fact that Lu Tianyang loved Chen Chen, a point that was beyond doubt.
The next day, Lu Tianyang did not return. Due to Du Huiru's relentless phone calls, he thought about how he had basically settled most matters with Ye Ya, but dealing with things at home was no easy task either.
When he got home, Du Huiru was sitting on the sofa and glanced at Lu Tianyang. "So you finally decided to come back."
"Mom, weren't you the one who missed me? Here I am. By the way, I brought gifts for you all. Where's Grandpa?" Lu Tianyang felt that he should first gain his grandfather's approval. He believed his grandfather would be more reasonable and that tackling issues one by one would be better; otherwise, he would be isolated in this house with little chance of success.
"Sigh, don’t be angry with us. It’s better than any gifts you could buy; just stay at home from now on." After all, he was her son, and it pained her no matter what.
The meal was satisfying because it was rare for them to eat together. Lu Jianming expressed his stance: as long as Lu Tianyang didn’t bring someone home to marry, everything else could be discussed.
After dinner, Lu Tianyang took his phone and walked into the study. The elderly Lu Old Man was still very interested in current events and looked up when Lu Tianyang entered.
"Kid, what do you want to say to your grandfather?" Lu Old Man glanced at him before returning to the news.
Lu Tianyang walked over and sat down beside him. "Grandpa, I remember when I was little, you often taught me that as a man, one must have a sense of responsibility, right?"
Lu Old Man adjusted his reading glasses and casually picked up a book from the table to tap it against Lu Tianyang's head. "You little rascal, trying to get your grandfather to be your advocate? Don’t try that with me."
Lu Tianyang couldn’t help but chuckle. "Grandpa, let me show you some pictures."
With that, he pulled out photos of Chen Chen, flipping through them one by one. "Grandpa, take a look; this is Chen Chen, your great-granddaughter."
Chen Chen was indeed very adorable; her round face and eyes resembled Ye Ya's and she was quite beautiful.
Lu Old Man furrowed his brows and picked up his phone to take a look. Seeing his grandfather's expression, Lu Tianyang knew that there was no reason for the Lu Family to dislike his Chen Chen.
"What’s her name?" Lu Old Man couldn't help but ask.
"Morning Light," Lu Tianyang replied. The name was chosen by Ye Ya, warm like the dawn, and he liked it very much.
Lu Old Man looked again and said, "Are you sure this child is yours?"
Don't blame him for being skeptical; it was just that the overwhelming news and Ye Ya's past had been dragged out into the open. Quan Ning City was buzzing with talk about such a woman who was unfaithful and promiscuous.
"Grandpa, I’m sure this child is mine. And Grandpa, Xiao Ya is not as terrible as the newspapers say. She’s a very special woman with a kind heart." Lu Tianyang didn’t notice that as he spoke about Ye Ya, the corners of his mouth were slightly lifted.
"Lu Tianyang, are you really planning to marry that girl named Ye? Have you thought this through? All your relatives will know you’re marrying Jing Hao’s ex-fiancée; people will talk." Lu Old Man said earnestly. If it were any other girl, it wouldn’t be so bad, but she was a love child of the Ye Family, one they didn’t even want to acknowledge.
"Grandpa, I’ve made up my mind. I want to marry her." Lu Tianyang said firmly. At that moment, Du Huiru and Lu Jianming walked in. Du Huiru’s face turned red with anger as she pointed at Lu Tianyang and said, "I disagree! Absolutely not! You cannot bring such a woman into our family!"
"Lu Tianyang, what you said in the hospital was just to deceive your father. You really intend to marry Ye Ya?" Lu Jianming took a deep breath, fearing that this unfilial son would send him back to the hospital.
"Mom and Dad, why can’t you give Ye Ya a chance? You don’t even know her, yet you conclude she’s bad. Besides, we already have a child together. It’s only right that I take responsibility for her and the baby."
"That woman is so calculating; marrying her would be a disaster." Du Huiru thought of Ye Ya’s sharp tongue and wondered if marrying her would lead to daily arguments.
"If you truly want to marry her, then don’t come back. I’ll pretend I don’t have a son like you, and you can forget about working at the company." Lu Jianming declared, refusing to even look at Lu Tianyang again.
Watching his parents leave in anger, Lu Tianyang couldn’t help but sigh. For the sake of face, should he let his woman and child remain outside? After all, who would dare say anything against his wife?
"Alright then, don’t push too hard on this matter. Your parents are doing this for your own good. Find a time for that girl to bring the child to see Grandpa first; he hasn’t promised to help you yet." Lu Old Man said. Having lived so many years, if he could see a great-grandchild, it would indeed be a good thing.
“Alright, Grandpa, if you see Xiao Ya and Chen Chen, you will definitely like them.” Lu Tianyang knew that his grandfather was on his side. As for the company, he felt reassured. If his father was worried, he could always go back and manage it himself; he didn’t want to be busy all day like a dog.
For the past couple of days, Lu Tianyang hadn’t sought out Ye Ya. On one hand, he wanted to give her some time to think; on the other hand, he needed to do some mental work at home.
That evening, while the children were asleep, Ye Ya opened her computer and began planning the new quarter’s development for Moya Fashion Store. The old tricks had already been stolen by competitors, and in business, what mattered most was to achieve victory through innovation. Moreover, she envisioned that her store with Mo Mo would be more than just a clothing shop.
As Ye Ya watched the latest fashion show from Paris, her phone rang. Without looking, she could guess who it was. She picked up the phone and stepped outside. “Hello, what’s up?”
“Is it wrong for me to call you? Heartless woman! Is Chen Chen asleep?” Lu Tianyang stood on the balcony with the phone in hand. If Ye Ya were there with him at that moment, it would have been a perfect scene.
“She just fell asleep, Lu Tianyang. Didn’t you say you wouldn’t bother me? Why are you calling me all day?” Ye Ya felt a bit helpless. She had thought that once this man returned home, he wouldn’t have so much time to disturb her. Instead, he called her almost every day from morning till night.
To outsiders, it might seem like they were in a passionate romance; in reality, it was far from that.
