Lu Tianyang, hearing her words, quickly held Ye Ya close. She was still so warm to the touch. He kissed her forehead and said, “Xiao Ya, maybe we should let a doctor take a look at you.”
“No need, Lu Tianyang. I’m not that fragile. Just hold me tight,” Ye Ya replied, leaning against him. His embrace felt so warm; could they stay like this forever?
“Xiao Ya, lie down properly.” Lu Tianyang was worried. Ye Ya looked like a snail without its shell when she was sick, and it pained him to see her like this.
Ye Ya smiled softly, and Lu Tianyang wrung out a fresh towel for her. “What are you laughing at, silly?” It was hard to believe that she could still smile despite feeling so unwell.
“Nothing, Lu Tianyang. Besides my mother taking care of me like this when I was little, no one has cared for me like this since. I’m so happy.” Her words were sincere; this feeling of warmth was truly comforting. He was like a big sun, melting away the ice and snow, bringing her warmth.
“Xiao Ya, I’ll take care of you like this from now on. There’s something I want to tell you. I originally planned to wait until you got better, but I can’t wait any longer.” Lu Tianyang looked at her, this silly girl who was so happy just being cared for. She said she was happy.
If it made her happy, it made him happy too.
“What is it? Tell me,” Ye Ya urged as she propped herself up on the bed, looking at him.
Now Lu Tianyang felt a bit shy himself. He rummaged through his pocket and pulled out an exquisite box, suddenly kneeling on one knee. “Xiao Ya, I know proposing to you now might seem a bit much. I had planned a romantic scene for this moment. But I can’t wait any longer. Please believe me; I will take good care of you and make you happy. Will you marry me?”
His proposal came out somewhat jumbled, but Ye Ya was moved nonetheless. At that moment, as he tenderly cared for her by the bedside while she was sick, it felt more reassuring than any romantic setting could provide.
So Ye Ya asked, “Lu Tianyang, will you always be this good to me?”
“Of course, Xiao Ya! I will make sure you and Chen Chen are happy. Just promise me,” Lu Tianyang replied nervously. He still felt uncertain; she was such a special person—would she agree to marry him? Although he had many ways to persuade her, he wanted her to willingly choose to be his woman.
Ye Ya extended her hand, and Lu Tianyang’s heart leaped with joy as if he had found a rare treasure. He slipped the diamond ring onto her finger. “Xiao Ya, I’m so happy! You’ve finally agreed to be mine willingly; from now on, you are mine.”
Lu Tianyang was overjoyed. If it weren’t for her health concerns, he would have loved to pick her up and spin around in circles to express his excitement.
“Lu Tianyang, you said it yourself. If you dare to act up in the future, just wait and see how I deal with you.”
“Alright, from now on, I’m all yours. Do whatever you want to me. Sigh, my dear, I hope you get better soon.” Lu Tianyang felt quite helpless; despite being a married man, his life felt no different from that of a monk.
Ye Ya wrapped her arms around his waist, feeling that her headache had eased considerably. Was this what people meant when they said happiness lifted the spirit?
Lu Tianyang touched her forehead and gave her a kiss, but it wasn’t enough; his emotions were too stirred up.
Ye Ya blocked him. “Lu Tianyang, no! What if you catch it too?”
“It’s fine, I’m not afraid.” He didn’t care about that anymore; he wished he could pin her down on the bed and assert his ownership over her. He wanted to label her as his, belonging to Lu Tianyang.
Lu Tianyang walked into the bathroom while Ye Ya lay on the bed, unable to suppress a laugh. Did she really choose to be sick?
When Lu Tianyang emerged from the shower, he found Ye Ya had already fallen asleep. Afraid of waking her, he didn’t get into bed but sat beside her, watching her.
Throughout the night, Lu Tianyang hardly slept at all, while Ye Ya’s fever finally subsided.
The next morning, when Ye Ya woke up, she noticed Lu Tianyang wasn’t in bed but was instead resting his head on the edge of the bed with a towel in hand. She touched her forehead; the fever had finally broken, all thanks to Lu Tianyang’s attentive care.
Ye Ya gently turned over to get out of bed, trying not to wake Lu Tianyang. However, as soon as her feet hit the floor, he woke up. Seeing Ye Ya awake, he stood up and touched her forehead. “Good, the fever seems to have gone down. Are you still feeling unwell?”
She shook her head and glanced at the ring on her finger, feeling as if she were still dreaming. Lu Tianyang held her hand tightly. “From now on, wear it like this and don’t take it off, understand?”
“How did you know my size?” The ring fit perfectly as if it had been custom-made for her, which made Ye Ya feel a bit puzzled.
Lu Tianyang gently brushed her nose with his fingers, a slight smile playing at the corners of his mouth. "If you don't even know this, how can you be my husband? Get up and eat breakfast; we have something important to take care of later."
"What important thing?" she asked.
Lu Tianyang wore a mysterious expression. "Wife, you've agreed to marry me. You don't have to worry about anything; just listen to me, okay?"
He was truly anxious about not getting the marriage certificate. He couldn't afford to think too much about others' opinions; what mattered was that he, Ye Ya, and their child were doing well together.
As for their parents, he would wait until they calmed down before returning home. Right now, it was pointless to say anything while they were still angry.
After breakfast, Ye Ya hesitated to hold Chen Chen, worried that she wasn't fully recovered yet. The little one looked at her with tear-filled eyes, which made Ye Ya's heart ache.
"Sweetheart, be good at home. Daddy and Mommy are going out for something important and will be back soon," Lu Tianyang said as he took their precious daughter from Guo Ma's hands and kissed her cheek. He considered it his daughter's first kiss and vowed that no other boy would take advantage of it in the future.
Ye Ya watched Lu Tianyang with a hint of jealousy. Chen Chen was her child, carried for ten months, yet now she could only watch her little one and couldn't even kiss her.
Lu Tianyang led Ye Ya to the car. Once inside, she couldn't help but ask again, "Lu Tianyang, where are you taking me? You seem so mysterious; what are you up to?"
"You'll find out when we get there, Xiao Ya. Trust me," he replied without revealing more as he fastened her seatbelt and the car slowly pulled away.
When they arrived at the civil affairs bureau, Ye Ya was taken aback. She stared at the shining sign in disbelief, completely unprepared for what was happening.
"Xiao Ya, we're going to get our marriage certificate today. We can plan the wedding later," Lu Tianyang said.
"Are you crazy? This is for getting a marriage certificate!" Ye Ya exclaimed, feeling like being with him had made her lose her mind.
“Of course, you’ve already agreed to marry me.” Lu Tianyang unbuckled his seatbelt, and when Ye Ya saw the serious look on his face, she couldn’t help but ask, “Aren’t we supposed to bring documents for the wedding? Didn’t you say we need to take pictures? Lu Tianyang, we haven’t prepared anything!”
This felt so ridiculous; she was completely unprepared.
At that moment, Lu Tianyang pulled out two household registration books as if performing a magic trick. “I’ve already taken care of everything. Just listen to me and follow along.”
“Wait, how do you have my household registration book? My grandfather would never give it to you!” Although Ye Zhen had previously denied Ye Ya, her registration was still with the Ye Family.
He reached out and gently ruffled her hair, a slight smile on his lips. “You don’t need to worry about that. Now, let’s go get our marriage certificate.”
Without paying attention to Ye Ya’s stunned expression, Lu Tianyang got out of the car and opened the door for her. They entered the civil affairs bureau and quickly took their photos.
Afterward, they received their marriage certificate. Ye Ya felt a bit dizzy as she looked at the red booklet in her hands, now stamped with an official seal. They were legally married.
The sensation was something Ye Ya was still trying to process. Lu Tianyang wrapped his arm around her shoulders as they walked out of the civil affairs bureau. “Ye Ya, from now on, you’re Mrs. Lu.”
Holding the red booklet, Ye Ya suddenly sensed someone was taking pictures. She immediately panicked and pulled Lu Tianyang back into the car, saying nervously, “Lu Tianyang, I think I saw paparazzi! We need to leave quickly!”
As they sat in the car, Lu Tianyang noticed Ye Ya’s anxious expression and felt a pang of pain in his heart. “Don’t be afraid. We’re married now; I can proudly tell everyone about it. What’s wrong with that?”
“No! Lu Tianyang, let’s keep a low profile for now. Hurry up and drive!” Ye Ya didn’t know why she felt so tense; it was just too surreal that they had gotten their marriage certificate and were now tied to this man for life. She needed some time to digest this reality.
Lu Tianyang glanced in the rearview mirror and indeed saw someone following them. A smirk appeared on his face. “Wife, since you want to keep a low profile, let’s do just that. Hold on tight; I’ll shake them off.”
At that moment, Ye Ya finally experienced this man’s driving skills, her heart racing as if it were lodged in her throat.
Shaking off the reporters behind him, Lu Tianyang slowed down the car. Looking at Ye Ya's expression, he couldn't help but ask, "Honey, are you okay?"
Ye Ya took a deep breath and steadied herself. "Lu Tianyang, you mustn't drive that fast again. Did you hear me? Remember it." She didn't want to become a widow at such a young age.
"Alright, I'll listen to you, dear." Lu Tianyang knew that she was actually worried about him.
Today was a very meaningful day. After thinking for a moment, he suggested, "Honey, how about we don't go home tonight?"
"Why not?" Ye Ya was confused. Why wouldn't they go home? Where else would they go?
"Since you're worried about not being fully recovered yet, today is special. Let's go to the mountain top to watch the sunrise and sunset. At night, we can see so many stars. I want you to remember me every year on this day; it's my anniversary."
However, Ye Ya still felt uneasy about leaving their child at home. It seemed irresponsible to go out and have fun while leaving Chen Chen behind. Although Guo Ma was experienced and would take good care of Chen Chen, it was hard for her not to worry when she couldn't keep an eye on things.
Seeing her expression, Lu Tianyang understood what she was thinking. He gently patted her head and reassured her, "Just one night away; Chen Chen will be fine. Besides, even if we went back, you wouldn't be able to keep Chen Chen by your side. Trust me; listen to your husband."
Without waiting for her response, he drove slowly up the mountain. At the top, there was an excellent observation deck and a hotel with perfect amenities. Lu Tianyang had booked the most luxurious honeymoon suite available.
Ye Ya stepped onto the balcony and gazed at the distant expanse of blue ocean framed by mountains; the view was breathtaking. She couldn't help but exclaim, "Lu Tianyang, this place is truly beautiful."
