Ye Ya and Lu Tianyang had reconciled. Afterward, Ye Ya reflected that Fu Wan Jing had been scheming all along; her goal was to separate her from Lu Tianyang, but things hadn’t gone as she intended.
Lu Tianyang wrapped his arms around her waist while she tied his tie, a slight smile playing on his lips. "Wife, how wonderful it would be if you were this considerate every morning."
Ye Ya shot him a glare and huffed, "You wish! I'm not your servant."
"You're silly. A servant wouldn't even have the chance to touch my tie. Come on, give me a kiss; you haven't kissed me this morning."
"No way! You look like a child. Are you silly or what?" Ye Ya adjusted his tie and pushed his hand away, preparing to head downstairs.
"Not kissing me is what's silly. Fine, if you won't kiss me, then I'll kiss you instead. I can take a little loss." Kissing his wife was an opportunity he couldn't let slip by, and Lu Tianyang wasn't about to miss it.
After a while, Ye Ya's lips were slightly swollen from his kisses, and Lu Tianyang reluctantly released her. "Wife, don’t look at me with those watery eyes. I really don’t want to go to work now; I finally understand what it means when the emperor doesn’t attend court anymore."
Seeing him enjoying himself while pretending to be pitiful made Ye Ya kick him lightly. "Alright, let’s go eat breakfast."
Recently, there had been a lot of work at the company, and Lu Tianyang found it difficult to carve out time for himself. Suddenly, he had an idea. "Wife, why don’t you come work at the company too? You can choose any position you want, and then we can see each other more often."
"No way! Ye Ya has to take care of the child; why would I go to work?" Lu Jianming immediately opposed this idea. He was always wary of Ye Ya.
"Who will take care of the child if she goes? No way! She absolutely cannot join the company." Du Huiru nearly choked when she heard her son’s suggestion.
"Honey, look at how Dad and Mom are saying this. I’m not interested in working at the company anyway." Ye Ya could see their concerns clearly; they were worried about her potentially harming the Lu family's wealth in the future. "Alright then, wife. It’s a bit of a pity; I’ve seen how capable you were at the Ye Family before. But it's fine; it’s better not to overwork yourself. Enjoy life at home while I handle making money." Seeing Lu Tianyang's adoring gaze directed at Ye Ya made Du Huiru feel uneasy inside.
If it were Wan Jing instead, she wouldn’t be so worried.
After breakfast, Lu Tianyang went off to work while Ye Ya stayed upstairs to feed Chen Chen.
After a while, Guo Ma came upstairs with a serious expression. "Lady, Fu Wan Jing's parents are here. They don’t look good and said they came to find you. Be careful."
Hearing Guo Ma’s words made Ye Ya furrow her brows slightly. Was this their way of settling scores? She handed the child over to Guo Ma and nodded. "I understand. Keep an eye on the baby."
Ye Ya walked downstairs and saw a couple in the living room. They were Fu Wan Jing's parents, and she could sense a wave of irritation emanating from them, fearing that today would not go well for her.
“Mom, Dad, I heard from Guo Ma that someone is looking for me,” Ye Ya said as she approached. The beautiful woman closest to her immediately stood up and slapped her across the face, her nails digging in painfully. Ye Ya's cheek felt as if it had been scratched by a cat, and no one expected such an outburst.
Ye Ya could have escaped, but she knew that if she didn’t take this slap, they would not let it go easily.
“Fu Madam, please don’t be so agitated. Let’s discuss this calmly,” Du Huiru said, feeling embarrassed for Ye Ya. No matter how poorly she thought of her, she was still nominally part of the Lu Family. It was too disrespectful for the Fu Family to hit someone right in front of them without saying a word.
“I never wanted to lay a finger on Wan Jing, yet here she is in the hospital because of her. If it were you, wouldn’t you be furious?” Su Mei’s eyes glinted like daggers, as if she wanted to take Ye Ya’s life.
“What? You hit Wan Jing?” Du Huiru was taken aback, unable to believe that Ye Ya had the audacity to act so violently when she usually seemed quite restrained.
“She insulted me first; I only retaliated when she wouldn’t let go of me. I didn’t do anything more than that,” Ye Ya defended herself, feeling justified in her actions.
“Stop talking nonsense! How could Wan Jing do such a thing? It must have been you! You know very well that Lu Tianyang and Wan Jing used to be a couple. You couldn’t stand her, so you attacked her and sent her to the hospital. I’m telling you, I will sue you!” Su Mei shouted.
Hearing this, the Lu Family members frowned. They already disliked Ye Ya, and now she was causing trouble for them.
“You just walked in and hit someone without knowing the truth! You think your daughter is innocent and that I’m slandering her?” Ye Ya touched her cheek; she couldn’t let this go unchallenged.
“You—” Su Mei was left speechless by Ye Ya’s retort.
“The fact is my daughter was sent to the hospital because of you. I’ve investigated; the waitstaff at the café all confirmed it was you who struck her. Let me tell you, Fu Zhengbei’s daughter is not someone you can just hit!”
Ye Ya sneered slightly; it made sense why Du Huiru favored Fu Wan Jing so much—marrying her would be beneficial for the Lu Family’s business. Fu Zhengbei was indeed the director of the Land Bureau.
“Old Fu, let’s talk this over calmly. I believe Ye Ya didn’t mean any harm; why don’t we get her to apologize?” Lu Jianming didn’t want to ruin relations with the Fu Family over this incident. In their line of work, it wouldn’t benefit the Lu Family at all.
Ye Ya wanted to lower her head; in this family, she had no standing at all. Bowing down seemed like the only way out, but when the words reached her lips, they wouldn’t come out.
At that moment, Fu Wan Jing entered without anyone noticing. She rushed over and grabbed Fu Zhengbei’s hand. “Dad, it’s fine; I’m okay now.”
“Fine? Look at your face! It hasn’t even healed yet; how can this be fine? Today, I must seek justice for you,” Fu Zhengbei said angrily. He couldn’t bear to see his daughter suffer like this, especially since she had just returned home. He worried that in his anger she might run away again; he had to give her an outlet for her frustrations.
Su Mei pointed at Fu Wan Jing's face, "Look at this, it hasn't faded since yesterday. Knowing that she's not well, how could she dare to hit her so hard? Is she trying to beat her to death?"
Lu Old Man hadn't intended to speak up, but seeing Fu Wan Jing's face indeed flushed red, it was clear she had been struck.
In fact, the mark had faded by morning. She knew her parents had gone to the Lu Family to settle the score, but she felt it was unfair to let Ye Ya off so easily. She wanted her to pay a price, so she deliberately made the mark appear again. Her makeup skills were truly impressive.
"Ye Ya, did you really do this?" Lu Old Man's voice was filled with displeasure as he frowned deeply upon seeing the real situation.
"Grandpa, it's fine. I'm okay now. Mom and Dad, let's just forget about it and go. We shouldn't make things difficult for Lu Tianyang," Fu Wan Jing said with a seemingly righteous demeanor, but secretly made a victory gesture towards Ye Ya behind her back.
Ye Ya held back her anger. It was clear from Fu Wan Jing's expression that she had no intention of letting her off the hook. However, she decided to stay silent and not say anything.
"No way! How can she hit you? She has no right!" Lu Old Man was furious and glared at Ye Ya. "Kneel down!"
Ye Ya had initially planned to endure it, but she never expected her grandfather would demand she kneel for Fu Wan Jing. This was too much.
"She did it on purpose! She's just acting! I hit her, and didn't her mother just come back?" If it weren't for the slap she had received earlier, Ye Ya would never have tolerated Su Mei's slap.
"Kneel down and admit your mistake!" Lu Old Man stood up. Ye Ya looked at his imposing figure and couldn't help but think of Ye Zhen; she instinctively took a step back.
"Why should I kneel? I won't!" Ye Ya was equally stubborn; everyone has their dignity.
"Ye Ya, listen to Grandpa. Don't make everyone angry again," Du Huiru signaled her with a glance.
At that moment, Fu Wan Jing pretended to walk over sympathetically. "Grandpa, please don't be angry anymore. I'm really fine now. She hitting me is justified; I shouldn't have met Lu Tianyang or appeared at the wedding. It's only right that she blames me."
After saying this, Fu Wan Jing feigned being wronged but leaned in close to Ye Ya's ear and whispered lowly, "Ye Ya, who will believe you?"
"Fu Wan Jing, can you be any more hypocritical?" Ye Ya pushed her away. Did they have to scheme against each other every day?
Fu Wan Jing pretended to stumble backward. Ye Ya thought she could take up acting; it was unnecessary to be so dramatic. However, in everyone's eyes, the situation looked different.
Guo Ma noticed something was off downstairs and hurriedly carried Chen Chen inside. She quickly took out her phone and called Lu Tianyang.
As the car arrived at the company, Lu Tianyang was surprised to see a call from Guo Ma. "Guo Ma, what's going on?"
"Young Master, the Fu Family is here causing trouble for Lady. Just now, Fu Madam slapped Lady. Everyone is blaming Lady for pushing Fu Wan Jing, but I saw it clearly from upstairs—Fu Wan Jing provoked Lady on purpose and faked the fall. You need to come back quickly; I fear Lady is going to suffer a great loss," Guo Ma's words were like a bombshell.
"Guo Ma, tell Lady to stay calm. I'll be back right away; don't act impulsively." Lu Tianyang drove as fast as he could to return.
He understood Ye Ya's position in the Lu Family. If he wasn't there, no one would protect her. Perhaps bringing her home had been a mistake; his parents still couldn't truly accept her.
At the Lu Family residence, everyone looked at the frail Fu Wan Jing, almost ready to devour Ye Ya alive.
Su Mei supported Fu Wan Jing and attempted to slap Ye Ya again, but Ye Ya dodged. She was not a puppet; she wouldn’t just stand there and let anyone hit her. This only made Lu Old Man angrier; to him, Fu Wan Jing, the granddaughter of an old friend, was far more important than a daughter-in-law.
"Apologize to Wan Jing today, or get out of the Lu Family."
Ye Ya glanced around at the hostile faces surrounding her and nodded. "Fine, I'll leave right now." As she spoke, she noticed Guo Ma holding Chen Chen and bringing him over.
"Chen Chen is not allowed to be taken away." Although Lu Old Man disliked Ye Ya, he had a fondness for Chen Chen.
