Ye Ya looked at the situation and realized that if she didn't leave soon, Chen Chen might truly be unable to escape. With a command from the Old Man Lu, the security guards immediately blocked the entrance.
Seeing this, Guo Ma hurried over to grab Ye Ya's arm and whispered, "Lady, just hold on a little longer. The young master will be back soon."
Given today's circumstances, Ye Ya couldn't even be sure if Lu Tianyang would stand by her side. Chen Chen had fallen asleep, and Ye Ya held her carefully, not wanting her to witness this scene.
However, while Ye Ya could endure, they could not. They were already trying to snatch the child away. With the baby in Ye Ya's arms, she naturally wouldn't let them touch her. She felt trapped, unable to move forward or backward. Did she really have to fight them? Ye Ya glanced at the child in her hands.
"Give me back the child; this is the grandson of the Lu Family and must remain with us," someone demanded. In that moment, Ye Ya realized that if she were to divorce Lu Tianyang in the future, all those so-called agreements would be meaningless. They would never allow her to take Chen Chen away.
"I gave birth to this child; none of you can take her from me," Ye Ya declared fiercely, like a hen protecting her chicks.
"The child stays; I’ll pay any amount for her," Lu Jianming said, now resorting to money to resolve the issue.
In the Lu Family, Ye Ya felt utterly alone. They could use their power and wealth to fight her for custody of the child. Looking around at everyone in the room, they seemed more predatory than even the Ye Family.
"I don’t want money; I just want to take Chen Chen with me," Ye Ya said as she tried to calm herself down. No matter how composed she was, it didn’t mean they wouldn’t try to snatch the child away. Two hands were no match for four fists. It wasn't that Ye Ya couldn't fight them off; she was simply afraid that if they tried to take the child by force, it would hurt Chen Chen.
Suddenly, Chen Chen began to cry. Ye Ya's heart ached at the sound and she feared for her child's safety. Reluctantly, she loosened her grip and watched as they took the baby away.
In that moment, it felt as though someone was cutting into her flesh with a knife. She watched helplessly as Chen Chen was handed over to Du Huiru.
"Chen Chen!" Ye Ya cried out as she saw her baby being carried further away from her.
At that moment, in Du Huiru's arms, Chen Chen continued to wail. Du Huiru held her awkwardly, unsure of how to comfort a crying child.
"Throw her out!" commanded Old Man Lu. The security guards pulled Ye Ya aside as if escorting a prisoner.
But Ye Ya was not defenseless; she quickly took down both guards who had grabbed her, leaving them sprawled on the ground. Everyone was stunned; they hadn’t expected Ye Ya to be capable of such strength.
Old Man Lu, experienced in conflict, sensed that things were going awry and ordered everyone to join in and push Ye Ya out while preparing to close the door behind them.
"Let her go!" Lu Tianyang shouted as he drove in and saw them attacking Ye Ya. His anger flared instantly.
Everyone froze at his command. He walked over to his disheveled wife and embraced her tightly. "Wife, it's okay now; I'm back. Everything will be fine." He gently patted her shoulder, trying to soothe her nerves.
Ye Ya was agitated, and in her fury, she struck Lu Tianyang on the chest. "Lu Tianyang, give me back my child! You devil, you tricked me into marrying you just to steal my baby, didn't you? I hate you! I hate you!"
"It won't happen. Chen Chen is yours, and she is mine too. It's okay now, don't be afraid. I'll take you away today," he said, no longer willing to wait. Since entering this place, their once happy life had vanished.
After comforting Ye Ya and wiping her tears, he was struck again, his face swelling from the blows. Heartbroken, he said, "Wife, wait for me a moment. Guo Ma, support Lady."
Guo Ma hurried over to help Ye Ya. Thankfully, the young master had returned; Lady was no match for them.
Lu Tianyang walked in, and everyone automatically parted to make way for him. He surveyed the people present and then looked at Fu Wan Jing. "Mr. Fu, Fu Madam, I understand that you are here today to seek justice for Wan Jing, correct?" The way he addressed them felt distant.
"Lu Tianyang, I'm sorry. I'm actually fine now. Mom and Dad, I've already said not to pursue this any further," Fu Wan Jing replied, appearing somewhat angry as she looked at Lu Tianyang. She had only intended to get Ye Ya to leave.
"At the very least, she should apologize to you. Did you not see how arrogant she was? We have never laid a finger on you since childhood," Su Mei insisted angrily.
Lu Tianyang remained calm. "I know there was some unpleasantness between my wife and Wan Jing last night. If Wan Jing was truly hurt, feel free to come after me. My wife's face is swollen; I believe our cameras captured this incident. I won't let anyone who harmed my wife go unpunished."
"You little brat! What nonsense are you spouting? You're still protecting her?" Lu Old Man nearly lunged at him without a cane.
"She is my wife; of course I will protect her. Since you can't accept her, I will take her away," Lu Tianyang declared firmly as he approached Du Huiru. Chen Chen was still crying uncontrollably, tears streaming down her face, which pained Lu Tianyang deeply.
"Son, what are you doing? Chen Chen is fine in the Lu Family," Du Huiru tried to soothe her daughter-in-law's child, but Chen Chen continued to cry.
"Give me Chen Chen," Lu Tianyang growled without caring for her agreement as he lifted the child from Du Huiru's arms.
"Chen Chen, don't cry; Daddy is here." The little one seemed to recognize him and gradually quieted down in his arms until she eventually stopped crying altogether, infuriating Du Huiru.
"If you're going to accuse my wife of intentional harm, I'm waiting," Lu Tianyang stated before turning to leave. He glanced back at Lu Jianming and added, "And Dad, if you want to reclaim the company, do it soon. Let me make it clear: don’t expect me to take over the Lu Family again. You can give it to whoever you want; I don’t care."
"You ungrateful son!" Lu Jianming found himself at a loss against his son's words; this tactic was ineffective and exhausting.
With that said, Lu Tianyang walked out holding the child. No one dared to stop him. "Wife, here's Chen Chen for you; let's go."
Ye Ya quickly held Chen Chen in her arms, glancing at Lu Tianyang and then at the members of the Lu Family. She feared that their relationship with the Lu Family would become strained from now on, but she couldn't worry about that too much.
Once they got into the car, Lu Tianyang drove them straight back to Yiju Mountain Villa. Upon returning, he sighed in relief. "Wife, it's better to be back here. I told you not to act impulsively and not to listen. Look, you've gotten into a fight again."
At Yiju Mountain Villa, several servants had been arranged to stay behind, likely because Lu Tianyang knew they would return sooner or later. He instructed a servant to take the child away and brought some ice over. "Does it still hurt?"
Ye Ya hadn't said a word since they returned. Now, looking at Lu Tianyang, she was surprised that he would help her. "You’re not mad at me for bullying your old flame?"
"I was with her in the past; they shouldn't have laid a hand on you. Why were you so foolish as to let them hit you like that?" Lu Tianyang scolded gently while applying the ice to her face.
"I let Fu Madam hit me on purpose; it was a way of getting back at Fu Wan Jing. Otherwise, how could she even touch me?" At that moment, she had wanted to hold back, but Fu Wan Jing kept provoking her until she couldn't restrain herself any longer.
"It's my fault; I shouldn't have let you go back." If she hadn't gone back, things wouldn't have escalated to this point.
"Lu Tianyang, after today’s scene, it will be hard for you in the future. I don’t want to return to the Lu Family anymore." Today, she had even prepared for the worst outcome, thinking that even Lu Tianyang might not help her. Fortunately, this man hadn’t abandoned her at the last moment, which touched her deeply.
"It’s okay; time will heal everything. I shouldn’t have let you go back like that; it was my failure to handle things properly and let you suffer." He knew his parents had never liked him; yet he still brought Ye Ya back, which only deepened the conflict.
"Lu Tianyang, they just think my background is poor and that I don’t have a strong backing like they do. But don’t worry; one day I will make them see me in a new light. Do you believe me?" Ye Ya turned her head to look at him with determination in her eyes.
Lu Tianyang took her hand and held it tightly. "I believe in you. You don’t need to care about how others see you; as long as I know you're good, that's enough. But, wife, don’t overexert yourself. If you need my help, just say so, alright? Don’t be stubborn."
Sometimes he worried that she was too strong and didn’t realize how much pain she was in.
"I know, Lu Tianyang. Let me handle things myself; if I really can’t manage anymore, I’ll tell you. I want to prove my own worth." If she relied on Lu Tianyang for help, the members of the Lu Family might criticize her again.
Lu Tianyang continued to hold her face for a while before finally letting go. "Does it still hurt?"
"It doesn’t hurt anymore," Ye Ya shook her head. As long as her heart wasn’t hurting, that was what mattered most—emotional pain was often harder to bear than physical pain.
After saying this, Ye Ya wrapped her arms around his waist; she truly felt a bit tired. Lu Tianyang was surprised; ever since their wedding day, she hadn’t taken the initiative to hug him again—he always had to force her into it. If it weren’t for being in bed together, this woman wouldn’t even beg for mercy willingly.
He held her tightly. "Wife, let's live well from now on and not argue anymore, okay?"
Ye Ya gave a bitter smile and pinched him. "It's always you who makes me upset, and you still have the nerve to say that, you jerk."
"I'm sorry, wife. Let me make it up to you," Lu Tianyang chuckled, feeling the pinch like a cat's scratch.
"Hmph, I don't even care," Ye Ya replied. Here, she could be a little reckless; no one would pick on her. Breathing in the free air made her feel completely relaxed.
"You're such a silly one." Lu Tianyang thought this was the best way. If their parents could truly accept her in the future, he would take her home on weekends; if not, he would go back alone.
After a morning of tossing and turning, Ye Ya actually fell asleep on him. Lu Tianyang looked at her peaceful face, wanting to carry her back to the bedroom to sleep but worried about waking her up.
He thought about bringing Guo Ma back; at least with her around, there would be someone trustworthy to take care of them. If Guo Ma hadn't secretly called today, things might have spiraled out of control. Ye Ya was adaptable, but he knew that if this woman truly gave up, it would only push her further away.
After a while, Lu Tianyang observed that sleeping here wasn't as comfortable as on the bed. He tried to lift Ye Ya with the gentlest movements possible. Fortunately, she didn't wake up but instead burrowed deeper into his embrace. A smile crept onto Lu Tianyang's lips as he gently placed her on the bed.
She looked so enchanting that he couldn't help but lean down and kiss her softly.
