Lu Tianyang couldn't help but ask, "What kind of man could make her look so closely, even with a hint of disappointment?"
"Don't overthink it. It's just a high school classmate. We haven't been in touch for many years," Ye Ya said, reaching out and pinching his cheek without caring about his grand CEO image. "Lu Tianyang, I didn't expect you to be so jealous."
As Lu Tianyang started the car, he thought only this woman would dare to act so boldly in front of him. "Wife, you'd better behave, or just wait until we get home; I might just spank you."
Ye Ya leaned against the car and smiled. "You're just a jealous man, but I like jealous men." This was proof that he cared about her; otherwise, why would he be concerned about such things?
Lu Tianyang had been feeling a bit gloomy, but hearing her words made his worries dissipate instantly.
Just as they got home, Lu Tianyang's phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID and saw it was Lu Old Man calling. Ye Ya felt inexplicably nervous.
"Hello, Grandpa. What's up?" Lu Tianyang said while playfully teasing Chen Chen with his hand.
"Bring Chen Chen back this weekend. Some old comrades heard you have a child and want to see her," Lu Old Man said. Noticing the silence on the other end of the line, he added, "Ye Ya should come back too."
Lu Tianyang didn't feel particularly happy after hearing that. Chen Chen was holding onto his fingers like a toy; the little one had grown even more beautiful.
"Is it too much for an old man like me to want to see my grandchildren?" Lu Old Man's voice was tinged with frustration.
"Grandpa, let me clarify: I can bring them back, but you mustn't make things difficult for my wife. That's my bottom line." Lu Tianyang didn't want Ye Ya to feel wronged time and again. Hearing his words, Ye Ya gently patted his hand; with that reassurance, she felt less aggrieved.
"Got it, you little brat," Lu Old Man grumbled before hanging up.
"Wife, Grandpa wants me to bring you both back this weekend. Don't worry; I'll be with you the whole time. No one will bully you," Lu Tianyang said anxiously, gripping her hand tightly as if swearing an oath.
"I'm not as fragile as you think. You don't need to be so nervous. Rest assured; I appreciate your concern."
Of course, he knew she wasn't that fragile, but she was his wife, and he couldn't help but care for her.
Soon enough, the weekend arrived. When Ye Ya and Lu Tianyang returned to the Lu Family Old Residence, they saw quite a few people in military uniforms—indeed, Grandpa's old comrades had come. Although Lu Old Man had retired, his influence remained strong. Moreover, the bonds formed during that era of camaraderie were forged through life-and-death experiences, making them truly special.
As soon as they entered the hall, they overheard a few elderly men chatting. It didn't take long for them to spot Lu Tianyang and Ye Ya. "Is this Lu Tianyang's wife and child? Come, let me take a look."
Lu Tianyang nodded and led Ye Ya inside. "Hello, everyone. This is my wife, Ye Ya, and this is our precious daughter, Chen Chen."
Ye Ya held the baby in her arms when a man in military uniform suddenly stood up, staring intently at Ye Ya. She was taken aback; she hadn't expected to see Xiao Lin again in such a setting.
"Chen Chen is so adorable! Just look at those bright eyes; she's bound to be successful in the future." The elderly men's attention was fully on the child. Xiao Laoyezi couldn't help but sigh, "Old Lu, your son Lu Tianyang is impressive. Unlike my grandson, who still hasn't found a partner."
"I see Xiao Lin has such good prospects; he's already a major at such a young age. Compared to us back in the day, he's doing great. Now that he's transferred to Ning Cheng, I'll definitely keep an eye on him," Lu Old Man remarked, feeling that his granddaughter-in-law had little to boast about and thus refrained from saying much more.
Lu Tianyang sensed something was off; the woman beside him had clearly stiffened, while the man across from them furrowed his brow in surprise but suppressed his emotions.
"Xiao Lin, long time no see," Ye Ya finally regained her composure, and all her thoughts condensed into those simple words.
Xiao Lin sighed lightly. "Xiao Ya, it's been so many years. How have you been? I didn't expect you to be married."
"So you two know each other," Xiao Laoyezi interjected, unable to hold back. "Xiao Lin, look at them; they already have a child. You should start settling down too; give your grandfather some peace of mind."
Xiao Lin walked over and scrutinized Lu Tianyang with a sniper-like gaze before extending his hand. "Hello."
Lu Tianyang shook his hand and nodded in greeting but felt an inexplicable sense of danger from this man.
After exchanging a few more pleasantries, as everyone turned their attention back to Chen Chen, Lu Tianyang quietly took Ye Ya's hand and slipped upstairs. Just as he locked the door behind them, he pressed her against it. "Wife, how well do you know that major? Your old flame? I could tell from the way he looked at you that it was different."
"What old flame? He was just a high school classmate! If you don't believe me, ask Mo Mo. He suddenly transferred schools and I heard he went to military academy after that; we haven't been in touch since then. Today is the first time I've seen him," Ye Ya pushed his hand away, wanting to leave. Was he holding a grudge now? Could she not have one classmate? Back in high school, Xiao Lin had made her feel warm; people like him were friends for life.
"But I could see he liked you! And you... do you like him?" Lu Tianyang was unwilling to let go, gripping her hand tightly as if wanting to dig up old stories.
"Lu Tianyang, can we be reasonable here? You get to have your first love and still keep ties with Fu Wan Jing while I can't even have one high school classmate? I don't want to argue with you," Ye Ya felt he was being unreasonable. She was already married to him and they had a child together; what possibility was there with Xiao Lin? Could this man not be so petty?
"I'm not being unreasonable, Ye Ya. You two are clearly rekindling an old flame." Lu Tianyang saw that she didn't even want to explain herself, and in his heart, he was convinced there was something she didn't want him to know, which was why she remained silent.
Sometimes, a man's mindset is just like a woman's—afraid of losing, which leads to irrationality.
Ye Ya pushed him away, so angry that she didn't know what to say. "Lu Tianyang, I don't want to argue with you here today. There are still many guests outside. Can you please stop causing a scene?"
He sneered at her unreasonable behavior. "Are you in such a hurry to go out because you want to see your old lover? I won't let you leave. Today, I will make you understand whose woman you really are."
With that, he picked Ye Ya up and threw her onto the bed. Ye Ya felt that Lu Tianyang had gone mad today; was he trying to humiliate her? All she had done was ask a few questions about Xiao Lin's situation—was that a crime?
Gone was his usual gentleness; he tore Ye Ya's dress apart. She felt that his forceful actions were no different from assault. She wasn't easy prey either; they began to grapple on the bed.
"Lu Tianyang, have you lost your mind? Xiao Lin and I are just classmates!" Ye Ya kicked out a leg, and they tumbled off the bed onto the carpeted floor, thankfully cushioned enough not to hurt.
"I'm crazy alright! Unless you promise me not to speak to anyone with the surname Xiao again!" Lu Tianyang's domineering nature kicked in; he believed Xiao Lin clearly liked her, and he would never allow anyone to take Ye Ya away from him.
"You’re insane! Do I need your permission just to make friends? Let me tell you, Lu Tianyang, Xiao Lin will always be my friend!" Ye Ya was furious. What right did he have to think she was doing something shameful with Xiao Lin?
At this point, Lu Tianyang truly lost his temper. He didn't care whether she was ready or not; he forcefully claimed her.
Ye Ya frowned in pain. "Lu Tianyang, you're inhuman! I hate you!"
"Say it quickly—you won't see Xiao Lin again. Just say it!" Lu Tianyang paused for a moment, ignoring her furious gaze. He felt like an animal whose territory had been invaded by another male; he was angry and out of control, desperate to prove that this territory still belonged to him.
"I want to see Xiao Lin! I want to talk to him! Lu Tianyang, let me go!" Both of them were stubborn at times; when Ye Ya dug in her heels, she was like a bull—unwilling to back down.
Those words acted like a fuse, igniting Lu Tianyang's fury completely. He moved faster beneath her like a lion that had lost control.
At this point, Ye Ya didn't even want to cry out in pain; she just bit down hard on her lip and silently endured the actions of this uncontrollable man.
In front of him, did her words not deserve to be believed? She had already said that she and Xiao Lin were just classmates. Even if she had liked Xiao Lin during her teenage years, was that a mistake? Wasn't he the one who had been in a relationship with Fu Wan Jing for so long?
Ye Ya closed her eyes, tears suddenly streaming down her face. What was he treating her as? A tool for venting his emotions?
Lu Tianyang looked at her tears, his heart aching. "Ye Ya, please tell me you are mine. Don't contact Xiao Lin anymore, okay?"
He couldn't help but soften his tone, his movements becoming gentler.
Ye Ya didn't open her eyes; she didn't want to see the current Lu Tianyang. He was terrifying, completely devoid of reason.
"Are you done? If you're done, let me go." She spoke calmly, so calmly that it began to frighten Lu Tianyang. Yet he stubbornly refused to leave. "No, I want you to give me another child."
Ye Ya's lips curled slightly. "Lu Tianyang, do you believe that I would abort the child when the time comes?"
Her words pierced Lu Tianyang like a knife. He stopped moving and got off her. "You wish! I have my ways; you will never see Xiao Lin again."
Ye Ya got up from the ground and saw that her clothes were torn beyond recognition, unwearable. Her feet hurt terribly; it felt no different from being assaulted.
Lu Tianyang's heart still ached. He knew she had just suffered, yet he couldn't control himself.
