Lu Tianyang held up his cup and gently clinked it against hers. "Wife, I'm so happy. I wish you become more and more beautiful, forever eighteen."
Ye Ya shot him a glare. "I'm already a mother; do you think I'm some kind of fairy?"
He picked her favorite dishes and placed them in her bowl, watching her smile with delight. "In my eyes, you are a charming fairy. I feel so lucky."
This belated dinner came to an end just as Lu Tianyang's birthday was about to conclude. They both had a small piece of cake, leaving the rest for Guo Ma to share with the servants.
Earlier, Lu Tianyang's playful antics had left cream smeared across her face. "Look at you! I told you not to mess around, and now I have to go take another shower," Ye Ya complained, clearly displeased with his mischief.
"Where? Let me see," Lu Tianyang said as he pulled her closer, turning her around. He noticed the cream on her face and leaned in to kiss her, leaving Ye Ya breathless. "Wife, it's all gone now."
"You naughty boy! Who gave you permission to kiss me?" Ye Ya pinched him playfully, causing Lu Tianyang to frown. "Wife, do you really enjoy pinching your husband this much?" he teased as he lifted her into his arms, suddenly noticing a bag on the bed.
Ye Ya's heart sank when she saw it. She wanted to snatch it back but realized it was too late. "Lu Tianyang, give that back!" It was her carefully prepared birthday gift for him, and she didn't want him seeing it.
Lu Tianyang pulled out the contents of the bag and nearly lost his composure. She really knew what he liked! He held up the outfit for comparison. "Wife, is this what you prepared for my birthday? It's perfect! Come on, put it on for me."
"Not wearing it! Who told you to dance with Fu Wan Jing?" Ye Ya turned away, still feeling angry. How could she not be upset after witnessing that?
"I promise I won't even touch her again. Wife, today is my birthday; I really want to see you in that outfit," Lu Tianyang said earnestly, feeling that his greatest joy in life was being with Ye Ya.
He walked over and sat on the bed, wrapping his arms around her waist from behind. "Wife, be good; it's my birthday after all. You should fulfill at least one of my wishes."
Ye Ya caught his hand, knowing full well that this rascal enjoyed such antics; otherwise, she wouldn't have thought of this gift in the first place.
"Put it on, my dear wife," Lu Tianyang coaxed for quite a while.
Ye Ya was utterly frustrated. "I won't wear it. If I do, you'll just tear it off anyway."
"It's different, my wife. It's visually different. I just love that feeling of unwrapping a gift," Lu Tianyang explained. Besides, his wife had such a great figure; he enjoyed looking at her, and what was wrong with that? She was his wife after all.
He simply helped her put on the outfit himself. The black lace effect, he thought, would drive any man crazy upon seeing it.
That night was indeed wild.
The next morning, recalling Ye Ya's phone call from last night, Lu Tianyang couldn't help but ask, "Honey, what did Xiao Lin call you for last night?"
Ye Ya was tired and didn't want to talk, but Lu Tianyang wasn't going to let her brush it off like that. Pressured into a corner, Ye Ya finally replied, "It was a reunion with old classmates. Xiao Lin hasn't been back in so long; it's normal to catch up. Besides, she said she would bring family along. Don't be so stingy; you think I'm like you?"
Hearing this, Lu Tianyang thought that Xiao Lin at least had some decency by not asking her out alone. If he went too, then naturally he wouldn't interfere with her social life.
"Honey, it's Friday night, right? I'll have my secretary clear my schedule," Lu Tianyang said as he glanced at her expression and kissed her forehead. "Now you sleep a bit more; I need to get up. I have a very important meeting this morning."
"Mm," Ye Ya mumbled as she lay on the bed, not wanting to move even a finger. She vowed never to wear such clothes again.
This little storm passed just like that. Ye Ya thought seriously about it; they hadn't really done anything wrong—just danced together. Did that mean they had to get a divorce? Every couple has their issues; the key is how they handle them.
Ye Ya was busy herself; the company was just starting up, and there were many things for her to manage. Tao Momo was preoccupied with the affairs of her original clothing store. The two of them were getting more and more into their work. However, Qi Fan had complained to Lu Tianyang multiple times that Tao Momo barely had time to answer calls anymore. Lu Tianyang shamelessly smiled because he knew he wasn't the only one suffering.
Zhao Meiqin took Ye Qi to attend those high-society banquets and even made a point to show off the custom-made dress they ordered from Moya Fashion. The dress was indeed tailored specifically for them and looked stunning on them, highlighting their elegance perfectly.
However, when they heard the prices being quoted, many of the wealthy ladies who had ordered clothes from Moya mocked them, saying that while the Moya Fashion clothes looked beautiful, their prices were quite reasonable.
Fuming after leaving the banquet, Zhao Meiqin took Ye Qi directly to the Moya Fashion Store to confront them. "Get your manager out here!" Zhao Meiqin demanded, her presence commanding. The sales clerk dared not offend her and quickly called for Tao Momo.
Miss Tao was in the middle of designing a dress when she was interrupted, already displeased. Seeing it was the Ye family mother and daughter only fueled her anger further. Before she could even speak, Zhao Meiqin couldn't hold back any longer.
"How can you sell us these clothes at such outrageous prices? You're clearly trying to scam us! I’m going to report your Black-hearted Store!" Zhao Meiqin recalled how she had been ridiculed by those wealthy ladies at the banquet for being foolish, which only intensified her fury, especially since they had taken so much of her private savings.
"Ma'am, did we force you to buy? We have clear pricing. If you think it’s expensive, you could have chosen not to buy. If you can’t afford it, don’t pretend to be someone you're not," Tao Momo said, waving a shiny pair of scissors in her hand as she effortlessly cut through a piece of fabric.
Ye Qi glanced around; today had already been embarrassing enough, and there was no need to drag others into this. Plus, seeing the scissors in Tao Momo's hand made her uneasy. "Mom, maybe we should just let it go."
"This young lady understands the situation. Let’s ask everyone here to weigh in and see who is truly at fault—someone who can’t even afford a piece of clothing shouldn’t be pretending," Tao Momo sneered at them as if they were enemies.
Zhao Meiqin couldn’t swallow her pride easily, but if they brought others into this, wouldn’t it just reveal that she couldn’t afford their clothes?
Meanwhile, Ye Ya was in the store preparing to discuss something with Tao Momo when she noticed a crowd gathered around. As she approached and saw who it was, her brows furrowed slightly.
