Tao Momo curled up on the sofa, trembling as she spoke to Qi Fan. He felt a surge of anxiety and quickly abandoned the meeting, leaving his assistant in charge, and drove straight home.
Upon arriving, he saw Tao Momo looking utterly lost. He approached her and gently grasped her shoulders. "Mo Mo, what happened? Please, talk to me."
"Qi Fan," Tao Momo said, nearly in tears, "you need to check the bathroom. We're in big trouble."
Qi Fan furrowed his brow, wondering what could possibly frighten her so much. He walked into the bathroom and found a pregnancy test lying on the counter, two red lines glaring back at him. His heart soared with joy.
He had done it on purpose, not expecting Mo Mo to conceive so quickly. Of course, he would never admit that to her.
He emerged from the bathroom holding the pregnancy test, excitement radiating from him as he shook her shoulders. "Mo Mo, is it true? Are you really pregnant?" Without thinking, he instinctively glanced at her belly.
"Maybe the test is expired; it can't be true. Didn't you say it wouldn't happen?" Tao Momo was overwhelmed and unprepared for motherhood.
"Nonsense, Mo Mo. Come on, let's take another test and then go to the hospital to confirm," Qi Fan urged, his impatience growing as he considered what precautions a pregnant woman should take.
This time, Qi Fan personally helped her take the test again, and once more there were two red lines. Frustrated, Tao Momo burst into tears again. "Qi Fan, you jerk! You tricked me! Didn't you say using protection would be fine?"
Qi Fan took her scolding without protest, letting her vent her feelings. "Mo Mo, easy now. You're carrying two lives; don’t cry. What if our child grows up to be just as emotional?"
Perhaps all pregnant women were more emotional; hearing Qi Fan say that made Tao Momo immediately upset.
"You only care about the baby now! Qi Fan, you've changed!" Her accusation sent a shiver down Qi Fan's spine. "Mo Mo, that's absolutely not true! You're my number one priority. Please stop crying; we’ll get married. You have nothing to worry about with me around."
"I won’t marry you just like that! Your family won’t agree; my mom won’t either! If they find out I'm pregnant, they'll kill me!" The thought of her parents discovering her secret relationship with Qi Fan—and now this pregnancy—made her heart ache.
"It won't come to that; if anyone's at fault, it's me. If anyone gets punished, it should be me," Qi Fan reassured her as he held her close and kissed her forehead to soothe her emotions. Inside, he was secretly delighted—first he would settle things with his own family before personally going to the Tao family to propose.
Once he had calmed Tao Momo down, Qi Fan immediately called home. When Mrs. Qi heard that Tao Momo was pregnant and that the situation wasn't great, she rushed over without hesitation.
"How long have you been pregnant? Why do you look so pale?" Mrs. Qi had always wanted grandchildren and had been worried since her son hadn’t returned home since that day.
"Mom, I think it's only been about a month; Mo Mo is just feeling sick from being scared," Qi Fan explained as he comforted her. Tao Momo felt nauseous and uneasy, which was why she had been throwing up.
Mrs. Qi shot him a disapproving look but then sighed in resignation. "Forget about it for now; just make sure you both take care of each other. Tomorrow we’ll go to your family to propose."
“Mom, is what you said true? This time, you can't play any tricks. Otherwise, your son will be single for the rest of his life.” Qi Fan felt a lingering fear.
“Mom understands. Do you think I want my grandchild to be born outside? While the pregnancy isn't obvious yet, we need to hurry and arrange the wedding.” Mrs. Qi thought that having a child before marriage wasn't something to be proud of, so she was eager to get things done.
Tao Momo remained dazed even after Mrs. Qi left. Qi Fan had listened intently to his mother's advice about what to eat and what to pay attention to, remembering everything clearly.
“Mo Mo, Mom has agreed. I won't let you suffer anymore.” After the last two gatherings ended poorly, this time, he believed his mother wouldn't cause any trouble.
Tao Momo sighed, “Qi Fan, your mom loves grandsons. What if I give birth to a daughter?”
“Silly girl, let me tell you, whether you have a son or a daughter, you will always be my precious one. As long as it's our child, I'll love it.” Qi Fan gently stroked her face and kissed her softly.
She let out a small sigh of relief; this matter seemed resolved.
The next day, Mrs. Qi changed her attitude and arrived early with bags in hand. Tao Ba and Tao Ma weren't initially fond of her, but when they heard that Mo Mo was pregnant, their attitude shifted.
Tao Momo still felt a bit anxious. “Mom and Dad, I'm sorry.”
Tao Ma sighed and looked at the Qi family with a sincere expression. “Silly daughter, you almost made a big mistake. Luckily, Qi Fan is a responsible boy.”
Because of Tao Momo's pregnancy, both families finally managed to sit down calmly and discuss the wedding.
Ye Ya didn't expect that Tao Momo would get married before her. However, she was genuinely happy for Mo Mo; she was much happier than herself despite the bumps along the way.
After attending Mo Mo's wedding, she held Lu Tianyang's hand in silence.
“Wife, we will definitely be happy in the future,” Lu Tianyang said as he wrapped his arm around her shoulder. The weather was a bit chilly, so he slipped her hand into his pocket.
It was warm, and Ye Ya nodded in agreement.
However, with Tao Momo getting married, Ye Ya couldn't just leave the company for her to manage; thus, their honeymoon was once again canceled. Lu Tianyang felt gloomy about it for quite some time.
Their wedding was much more low-key compared to Tao Momo's extravagant ceremony, but Ye Ya found it very warm and cherished that feeling.
Before they knew it, the Spring Festival arrived. Stepping into the new year, Ye Ya looked back on their journey together with Lu Tianyang; it truly hadn't been easy.
Chen Chen looked adorable in her red cotton jacket. The family reunion dinner was held at the Lu Family Old Residence. After putting Chen Chen to sleep, Ye Ya stayed with the elders to watch the Spring Festival Gala before returning to her room.
It was snowing. Ye Ya stood on the balcony, watching the snowflakes dance down from the sky. She used to dislike winter because of the cold, but now, looking at the man beside her, it seemed that even the harshest weather and environment could no longer frighten her.
Lu Tianyang held her close. "Wife, it's cold outside; let's go back inside."
"Husband, I'm not cold with you here," she replied, turning to him with a bright smile that bloomed like a flower. Seeing her so happy melted Lu Tianyang's heart.
He cupped her face and kissed her gently. "Wife, as long as I'm here, you will never feel cold for the rest of your life."
They had experienced fear, disappointment, and separation along their journey, but fate ultimately brought them back together. With each other by their side in the future, she believed they could walk until the end of their lives.
"Lu Tianyang, I love you," Ye Ya said. At those words, Lu Tianyang's heart skipped a beat, and the smile on his lips felt like a stone dropped into water, sending ripples of happiness all around.
"Wife, I love you too. It's too cold here; let's go inside." He picked her up in his arms and walked toward their happiness.(THE END)
