Dressed impeccably, Jin Chengyan stood up from the sofa, exuding an air of superiority in his deep gray suit. His presence distinctly separated him from the other three individuals in the room, creating an invisible divide between two worlds.
He cast a cold glance at Shen Fengye, whom he despised most for being unfaithful, especially as a man. Such behavior was a disgrace to their gender!
Next, he looked at Ni Yue. Earlier, he had heard some friends mention her as a woman who played hard in their social circle. However, they only spoke of her; none would stoop to associating with her directly.
Then there was Qiao Nuo, who had been less frequently discussed in the circle until recently when her family's bankruptcy had become a hot topic.
"Youth!" Jin Chengyan addressed Shen Fengye, a title that made Shen Fengye feel somewhat embarrassed since Jin Chengyan appeared only slightly older than him. Yet, backed by his status and position, he wielded considerable authority.
Shen Fengye quickly nodded and responded submissively.
Though Qiao Nuo had long since lost any feelings for Shen Fengye, seeing him act this way sent a chill through her. How had she been so blind to have ever been with someone like him?
"It is indeed your freedom to choose whom to be with, but you cannot excuse your infidelity. As men, we must take responsibility. If you no longer love someone, let them go. Never straddle two boats; such people do not deserve to be called men!" Jin Chengyan spoke with a slight smile that concealed his menace, causing cold sweat to bead on Shen Fengye's back.
He turned his gaze to Ni Yue. "Miss Ni, let this matter end here. If there’s a next time, not just in this circle but throughout Qin Cheng, your family will find no place to stand."
Ni Yue trembled at his words; she knew Jin Chengyan meant every word he said.
"Thank… thank you, Mr. Jin," she stammered. If she were the reason the Ni family lost their standing in Qin Cheng, she would become their greatest sinner.
"Additionally," Jin Chengyan's eyes landed on Qiao Nuo with a simple smile that seemed genuine.
This left Qiao Nuo puzzled. From Jin Chengyan's veiled warnings to Shen Fengye and Ni Yue, it appeared he was helping her—yet why?
"You seem to lack decision-making power in this matter," he remarked casually before shifting his gaze away from Qiao Nuo.
Ni Yue stared at Jin Chengyan in shock. It was evident he was aiding Qiao Nuo, which made her feel resentful. However, given Jin Chengyan's status and authority, she felt powerless against him.
"Yes," Ni Yue replied softly, lowering her head.
Jin Chengyan let out a cold hum and turned towards the floor-to-ceiling window.
Before long, Jin Chengyan's secretary, Alice, entered the room and informed him that she had dealt with the reporters. There would be no trace of this incident appearing on any platform.
Jin Chengyan stood with his back to them, his expression hidden.
“Alice, from now on, refuse any collaboration with the Ni Family and anyone associated with them,” Jin Chengyan said calmly.
Everyone in the room was taken aback by this decision.
Alice knew that although her boss could be domineering, dictatorial, and ruthless at times, he always thought carefully about decisions regarding the company. He had never been so merciless towards a corporation before. It seemed that Miss Ni had truly crossed Jin Chengyan's line.
Ni Yue looked at Jin Chengyan in panic. In the Qin Cheng business circle, it was nearly impossible to avoid any collaboration with the Jin Family. If Jin Chengyan was so explicit about not wanting to work with the Ni Family, it would effectively undermine their standing in Qin Cheng!
As for Qiao Nuo, she didn’t attempt to interject or plead for Jin Chengyan to show mercy. This was entirely his decision and had nothing to do with her, right?
When the Qiao Family went bankrupt, Qiao Nuo had already put aside her grievances about Ni Yue getting involved with her boyfriend and sought help from the Ni Family. However, the Ni Family’s response had been to shut their doors.
If it were just two families with a casual relationship, it wouldn’t matter as much. But the Qiao Family and Ni Family had been close for many years. They say true feelings are revealed in times of hardship; adversity also reveals true colors!
She watched indifferently as Alice “escorted” Ni Yue and Shen Fengye out of the room.
Coming back to her senses, she realized her own situation and glanced at the man standing by the floor-to-ceiling window.
Dingsheng Hotel was situated in an excellent location; at thirty-eight stories high, this man could overlook the entire city. He was indeed standing at the pinnacle of power.
Yet for some reason, Qiao Nuo felt that this solitary figure appeared quite desolate.
After all, it is lonely at the top.
She gently prepared to leave when unexpectedly, Jin Chengyan called out to her.
“Qiao Nuo, stay.”
Qiao Nuo inwardly cursed her luck. Was he really going to hold her accountable for being dragged into this situation? After all, it all started because of her.
If he treated her the same way he dealt with Ni Yue, she truly wouldn’t be able to handle it!
“Mr. Jin, I’m really sorry for the trouble I’ve caused you today. Right now, all I can do is apologize; I have no other way to make it up to you…”
“No, you do.” Jin Chengyan turned around, a confident smile gracing his handsome face.
In that brief moment, a bold idea had taken root in his mind.
He felt it was necessary to take a gamble.
At that instant, Qiao Nuo was indeed taken aback. Jin Chengyan was like walking charisma, exuding an irresistible allure.
“Hmm?” What could she possibly offer as compensation? The most she had on her was fifty dollars, and besides, Jin Chengyan wasn’t lacking in money.
So what he lacked was…
“We should get married. I need a wife.”
