Qiao Nuo couldn't think too much; she rushed forward to block Qiao Chen. She couldn't let Qiao Chen get into more trouble.
"Qiao Chen, stop making a scene!" She used all her strength to hold Qiao Chen back.
But the situation quickly spiraled out of control. Initially, she thought they could just come to apologize to the teacher, and Qiao Chen would be able to stay at school without any issues.
Who would have thought that the parents of the student Qiao Chen had beaten would be so relentless? They arrived and slapped Qiao Nuo across the face. How could Qiao Chen tolerate someone hurting her sister? She confronted that Classmate's Mother and ended up injuring her. Now, that woman was determined to hold Qiao Chen accountable, even calling the police!
This situation had escalated significantly. Qiao Nuo felt a throbbing pain in her temples as she listened to the accusations from the other parents about how fiercely Qiao Chen had attacked their son. She didn't even have a moment to interject.
"Regardless, I’m definitely pressing charges against them. I want this little thug to go to jail!" The wealthy-looking woman who had slapped Qiao Nuo coldly told the police.
The officers felt this was somewhat of an overreaction; it seemed like just a conflict between classmates—how could it warrant jail time?
But Qiao Nuo was suddenly anxious. If Qiao Chen went to jail, how would she explain it to their father?
"No, my brother is just..."
"What’s going on here?" A deeper voice suddenly cut through the tense atmosphere of the office. Qiao Nuo recognized it; she had heard it just yesterday.
She looked up towards the door.
Jin Chengyan walked into the office, and upon seeing him, Teacher Wang immediately broke into a smile. "Mr. Jin, what brings you here at this hour?" Teacher Wang was no fool; he noticed the Vice Principal and other staff members following closely behind Jin Chengyan.
Qiao Nuo furrowed her brows. Was Jin Chengyan a board member of this private school?
Once inside the office, Jin Chengyan's gaze fell on Qiao Nuo. He offered a slight smile, as if greeting her, though it felt more like a meaningless gesture.
The Classmate's Mother, upon seeing the arrival of the principal and others, became even more insistent. "My child was bullied at school! Today, I came to school and was pushed to the ground. When I enrolled my child here, I chose this school for its excellent teaching resources, responsible teachers, and high-quality students. Who would have thought it would turn out like this? At this rate, you'll be no different from any other high school!"
Her words left the school leaders in the office visibly embarrassed; after all, such incidents had never occurred since the school's establishment.
"Madam, there seems to be some misunderstanding here. Is it really necessary to involve the police? This is not a good situation for either your child or our school," the principal said kindly, attempting to mediate.
"Hmph!" The Classmate's Mother scoffed and shot a glance at Qiao Nuo. "I’m definitely going after the Qiao family. A bankrupt family has no right to act tough here!"
Qiao Nuo had heard too many comments about her family's bankruptcy over the past few days; she was truly fed up with it now and grasped Qiao Chen's hand tightly.
Qiao Chen thought Qiao Nuo wanted him to apologize to them and silently struggled against her grip.
Unexpectedly, Qiao Nuo said, "I already heard from my brother about what happened yesterday. Your son started it first; my brother couldn't stand by and let him provoke us. Yes, hitting someone is wrong, but I brought my brother here today to apologize. Yet you walked in and slapped me! My brother was just protecting me; he couldn't possibly stand by while I was being hit!"
"You..." The Classmate's Mother pointed an accusatory finger at Qiao Nuo.
However, Qiao Nuo did not give her a chance to speak. "Yes, our family is bankrupt and we can't afford a lawyer! But if you insist on making this difficult for us, I, Qiao Nuo, will not be a coward. We can meet in court! As for this school—"
Qiao Nuo glanced at Teacher Wang, having already witnessed her dismissive attitude.
She then cast a look at Jin Chengyan. Although she didn't know why he was here, she couldn't afford to think too much about it.
Jin Chengyan stood there unmoved, making Qiao Nuo inexplicably feel that he was only here to watch her make a fool of herself.
