Because she successfully signed the letter of intent, Qiao Nuo felt very happy; at least she had achieved her first step! Taking advantage of her outing, Qiao Nuo went to the old street to buy her father's favorite Candied Chestnuts. She held the steaming chestnuts as she made her way to the hospital. 0

She was so joyful that it felt like there was a breeze at her feet with every step she took. She wanted to share this happiness with her father, even though he had no idea when he would wake up. 0

Passing by the outpatient department and through the small garden, Qiao Nuo headed towards the inpatient ward but was suddenly tripped by someone in the gazebo of the garden. 0

The doctor who had been dozing on the steps opened his eyes due to Qiao Nuo's movement. From his vantage point, she was facing away from the sunlight, blocking the blinding glare. At that moment, he thought this woman might just be sent by God. 0

"What are you doing..." blocking the way while sleeping here! 0

The Male Doctor brushed off the dust from his pants and stood up from the steps. 0

"Qiao Nuo, I can't believe after all these years your memory is still as bad as ever!" Without any provocation, the Male Doctor reached out and patted Qiao Nuo on the head. 0

Qiao Nuo found this utterly baffling, but what did he mean by all these years? 0

Narrowing her eyes, she looked at the Male Doctor in front of her. She truly did not recognize him; among her father's attending physicians, there was no one like him! 0

"Qiao Nuo, even after all this time you still don't remember me? I'm Wen Ge." 0

Hearing that name brought back buried memories flooding into her mind. She turned around in surprise, but she clearly remembered that Wen Ge had been a chubby little boy wearing gold-rimmed glasses. How could he possibly be this tall and somewhat rogue-looking doctor now? 0

She looked at the name tag on his chest, which read: Neurosurgery, Huo Yawen. 0

"Are you... kidding me?" She remembered that Wen Ge wasn't named Huo Yawen; his last name was Lin! 0

"When you were four, you still wet the bed, but afraid of your mother finding out, you secretly put the sheets in the doghouse and said it was the dog's doing!" Such a silly thing could only have been done by little Qiao Nuo. 0

"But..." Qiao Nuo looked at the drastically changed Wen Ge, still struggling to connect the two people. 0

"A lot happened in between; I'll explain later." Huo Yawen waved it off. 0

Qiao Nuo was still processing that Huo Yawen was actually Wen Ge, staring blankly at him. The neighbor boy who had always protected her in childhood—reuniting after so many years should be a cause for celebration! 0

"I'm sorry I wasn't there when your family had trouble," Huo Yawen said with some guilt. If he had come back sooner, if he had recognized Qiao Nuo earlier, she wouldn't be in such a difficult situation now. 0

Qiao Nuo smiled nonchalantly; the hardest part was already behind her. "It's fine, just small matters." 0

"Long time no see," Huo Yawen smiled. "But to make up for my absence and what you had to endure, I asked a friend of mine to buy a house from your sales department. I heard you've already signed the letter of intent, so I waited here for you. It seems to have gone smoothly." 0

Qiao Nuo blinked, looking at Huo Yawen. So she was able to sign the letter of intent with the other company smoothly because of Huo Yawen's behind-the-scenes help! 0

"Wen..." It was still a bit difficult to suddenly call him by his childhood name. "You've gone through so much trouble; eighty units is no small number. You don't need to owe me this favor!" 0

"Consider it my belated birthday gift, Christmas gift, and New Year’s gift to you over these years. If you think about it, I even made a profit," Huo Yawen said dismissively as he took the Candied Chestnuts from Qiao Nuo's hand. "How did you know I like chestnuts? Do you know how hard it is to find these things abroad?" 0

Qiao Nuo could see that Huo Yawen truly didn’t care about that matter, and she herself was immersed in the joy of reuniting with Wen Ge. 0

She had signed the intention letter, sold her house, embraced her job at Jin's Architecture, and met Wen Ge… everything seemed to be getting better! 0
