Qiao Nuo understood that a childhood sweetheart was someone of the opposite sex who grew up together with her. Although she and Huo Yawen had been apart for several years, she had spent the first four years of her life with him! 0

"That’s about right!" Qiao Nuo nodded vigorously. "Do you think my bad luck has finally come to an end, and a beautiful life is beckoning me? I feel like it won’t be long before my dad wakes up, and I can live with him again!" 0

She could already envision how bright her future days would be. 0

"Of course, I owe all of this to you! You were there to lend a helping hand when I needed it the most!" 0

"Hmph." Jin Chengyan let out a light snort. Qiao Nuo was a very clever girl; after sharing so many happy thoughts, she still credited him for it! 0

Any man would feel satisfied with his own sense of masculinity. 0

"Focus on cooking." He gestured toward the dish she had forgotten on the stove in her excitement before turning to leave the kitchen. 0

Back in the living room, Jin Chengyan took out his phone and called Yan An City. 0

"Ancheng, thank you! Let’s go out for a meal sometime!" 0

"Huh? Thank you? For what? A meal? Sure, I’m free in a couple of days." 0

Jin Chengyan quickly picked up on the confusion in Yan An City's tone and immediately asked, "What about the task I asked you to do?" 0

“What happened... Ah, I remember now! Oh my gosh, do you know you woke me up when you called that day? I went back to sleep and then forgot about it... Brother, I’ll take care of it right away...” Yan An City was in a panic. 0

“Forget it.” After saying that, Jin Chengyan hung up the phone. 0

Unconsciously glancing towards the kitchen, Jin Chengyan was astonished to find that Qiao Nuo had managed to sell the house all by herself without his help! He knew that was a twenty percent increase—how difficult that must be for a newly appointed salesperson! 0

Should he perhaps look at Qiao Nuo in a new light? 0

“Crash—” 0

“Ah—” 0

Two sounds came from the kitchen. Jin Chengyan put down the phone and walked over, only to see a plate had met its glorious end, with Qiao Nuo squatting on the floor picking up the shards. 0

“Don’t use your hands…” 0

“Hiss—” Just as Jin Chengyan finished speaking, Qiao Nuo’s finger was cut by a piece of porcelain, and blood immediately welled up. She instinctively brought her index finger to her mouth, having heard that it could stop the bleeding! 0

But Jin Chengyan was quicker; he stepped forward, grabbed her hand, and led her to the sink, turning on the cold water to rinse her wound. 0

“You still say you want to be a chef when you can’t even hold onto a plate.” Once he saw the bleeding gradually stop, he handed her a tissue to dry her hand, but his sarcastic remarks couldn’t be held back. 0

Qiao Nuo felt wronged! 0

"You've placed your plates too high. I barely managed to reach them, and they ended up falling out!" Qiao Nuo pointed at the cabinet above. "This design is clearly unreasonable. You can't expect to hire a 180 cm tall servant to cook for you. How can an average person reach plates that high?" 0

Jin Chengyan looked at Qiao Nuo, who was speaking so eloquently. Was she blaming the owner of this house, which happened to be him, for not instructing people on where to place the plates? 0

Not receiving a response, Qiao Nuo glanced at Jin Chengyan's expression and noticed he seemed... a bit angry. 0

But why was he angry? 0

"Forget it, let's just eat. We can clean up later," Qiao Nuo said, not wanting to deal with the tense atmosphere. "Could you please hand me a plate? I'm afraid I might drop it again." 0

Qiao Nuo turned to look at the eggs and shrimp in the pot, anxiously waiting for Jin Chengyan to bring her a plate, unsure if he would listen to her request... 0

Then, a ceramic plate was placed beside her. Jin Chengyan had brought it over. 0

Just as Qiao Nuo was about to scoop some food with her spoon, she felt Jin Chengyan standing right behind her, in a way that felt almost too close! 0
