Jin Chengyan removed his hand from Ruan Shengyu's shoulder, his gaze growing increasingly distant until he finally let out a light laugh.
He stood up, creating space between them.
"Why can't I like someone else?" Jin Chengyan said coldly.
He could be gentle with her, but he would not allow her to manipulate him.
In that moment of indifference, Ruan Shengyu felt that the tenderness from earlier had vanished completely. The words she had almost spoken were swallowed back down; she wanted to say: You can only like me.
But this was Jin Chengyan!
Seeing her at a loss for words, Jin Chengyan felt how ridiculous he was in this relationship. "Yan San has returned."

"The two who bumped into Miss Ruan have already been brought out of the police station. It’s up to you how to handle them. As for those pulling strings behind the scenes..." A Shan hesitated slightly as she spoke.
The road conditions in Qin Cheng didn’t allow Jin Chengyan to drive fast, forcing him to maintain a normal speed, which did nothing to alleviate his simmering anger.
A Shan's reluctance to continue only added to his frustration.
"Stop stalling and speak!" he snapped, his patience wearing thin.
At that moment, Jin Chengyan's phone rang. Annoyed, he pulled it out to see Yan San's name flashing on the screen—an unwelcome sight.
A Shan noticed who was calling and immediately fell silent.
Jin Chengyan answered the call.
"A Yan, I'm back. Let’s meet up!" Yan Beiting's voice was clean yet carried a hint of laziness.
When Jin Chengyan had once asked the women around him what made their Yan San Shao so charming, they had replied that despite his seemingly indifferent demeanor, it was precisely that attitude that made him irresistible to women.
Jin Chengyan expressed his disdain for this.
Yan Beiting was nothing but a hypocrite, indifferent to everyone around him; he was truly a heartless person.
"I don't have time, go find Alice to schedule an appointment," Jin Chengyan said, feeling a surge of anger at the thought of Yan Beiting.
"You have time to meet women, but not me?"
"I'll have time to see you when you turn into a woman!" With that, Jin Chengyan hung up the phone and tossed it onto the back seat, choosing not to dwell on it.
In fact, this annoyance made him forget to ask about what A Shan had mentioned earlier.
