“Sir, you should apply some medicine,” A Shan said as he placed the medicine box on Jin Chengyan's desk. The office had just been tidied up by the secretary, and from a destructive perspective, the mess created by Jin Chengyan and Yan Beiting was hardly minor.
Jin Chengyan glared at A Shan, his anger intensifying. “You come to me with this before the matter is fully investigated? When did your competence drop to this level?”
A Shan lowered his head, knowing he couldn’t admit to Jin Chengyan that he had driven like a madman to find Qiao Nuo after hearing that recording, and later confronted her.
Later, A Shan discovered that although Qiao Nuo had been dining at a hotel that night, she was there as an escort. Mr. Zhao's initial target had not been Ruan Shengyu but rather Qiao Nuo. While this didn’t completely clear her of suspicion, it did lessen it significantly.
“What happened just now? How did that hypocrite Yan Beiting manage to take Qiao Nuo away? Do they know each other?”
“I don’t know,” A Shan replied honestly.
“How can you not know anything? What do you actually know?” Jin Chengyan was nearly driven to the brink by A Shan's incompetence.
“Miss Ruan has already met with the Third Young Master.”
Suddenly, Jin Chengyan swept everything off his desk onto the floor; it had just been organized!
“Sir…”
“Shut up, get out!”
“What about Miss Qiao…”
“Get lost!” Jin Chengyan barked, shooing A Shan out of the office.
A Shan dared not say another word and quietly left the office.
Jin Chengyan was practically furious. How could both Ruan Shengyu and Qiao Nuo be connected to Yan Beiting? Why, after all these years, did Ruan Shengyu still feel compelled to meet him upon learning that Yan Beiting had returned?
He had merely tested the waters, intentionally giving her Yan Beiting's current number, and she couldn't resist going to find him!
To Ruan Shengyu, what did Jin Chengyan even mean?
He took out his phone and quickly pressed a few numbers.

“Hey, where are you taking me? What are you doing?” In the parking lot, Qiao Nuo pulled her hand away from Yan Beiting. “Even if you know Jin Chengyan, you can't just take me away from him!”
Yan Beiting leaned against the car door, looking at Qiao Nuo.
“Come on, tell me, what’s your relationship with A Yan? He rarely gets angry with girls; you're the first.” He had seen it clearly that day when Jin Chengyan had shoved her into the car.
It was the first time he had seen Jin Chengyan act that way towards a girl!
“What… what relationship could we possibly have?” Qiao Nuo naturally couldn’t reveal her connection with Jin Chengyan. “And what about you two? No need to say more; if you can fight, you're definitely not friends.”
Qiao Nuo took a couple of steps back. This Yan Beiting seemed anything but harmless as he appeared.
“On my honor, A Yan and I are truly friends. Just now was our first meeting in six years; that was our unique way of catching up. Otherwise, A Shan would have knocked me down by now. Don’t you think?”
It seems that this is indeed the case.
"Besides, my Yan Family and his Jin Family have been family friends for generations."
So, he really is from the Yan Family.
It’s true that the Yan Family and Jin Family are family friends, which means that Jin Chengyan and Yan Beiting cannot be enemies.
"It doesn't matter to me whether you two are friends or enemies; I'm leaving." Qiao Nuo still wanted to ask Jin Chengyan to let her off easy. She truly had not set up Ruan Shengyu.
