Qiao Nuo looked at Jin Chengyan, who was completely different from the person she had known before. It felt as if the one who had been kind to her these past few days was not Jin Chengyan at all.
"I'm sorry, I overstepped," Qiao Nuo suppressed the discomfort in her heart. After saying this, she turned and went back to her room.
She realized how naive she had been. Even someone as cunning as Jin Zhongshu had no way to influence whom Jin Chengyan liked or wanted to be with. Did she really think she could change him on her own?
It was a perfect example of her own words—overestimating herself.
In the living room, Jin Chengyan felt an indescribable heaviness in his chest.
He had spoken such callous words before, even harsher than what he had just said to Qiao Nuo, breaking the hearts of many women. Yet, he had never felt this kind of irritation.
It was as if he had committed some unforgivable sin!
He muttered a curse under his breath and decided he couldn't stay in Jin Mansion any longer. Grabbing his car keys, he left.

Qiao Nuo had been having a terrible couple of days. She kept making mistakes at work and had been reprimanded by her boss several times.
However, things always seemed to catch her off guard. After finishing lunch and preparing to return to the office, she unexpectedly encountered two uniformed police officers at the door.
"Excuse me, are you Miss Qiao Nuo?" one of them asked.
Qiao Nuo nodded.
“You are suspected of being involved in a scandal, and the parties involved wish to pursue accountability. Please come with us,” the police officer said, presenting an arrest warrant to Qiao Nuo.
“What? This is impossible! I…”
“You have the right to remain silent. We are not forcing you to speak, but anything you say may be used as evidence against you. You can contact your lawyer, but for now, you must come with us to the police station!”
“Ah?” Qiao Nuo felt that this situation was not a joke or a misunderstanding, but she had no idea what it was all about!
Before she could process what was happening, she was taken away by the police!
Onlookers stood at the entrance, watching in disbelief.
At the police station, Qiao Nuo sat in the suspect's chair, facing the officers' inquiries. She felt utterly bewildered.
“Officer, I’ll say it again: I had no knowledge of the incident involving Ruan Shengyu. I only found out about it that morning while watching the news in a taxi! Yes, I was at that hotel that day, but I was drunk and woke up in my hotel room. The incident has nothing to do with me!”
“We have witnesses. Lu Ling and Zhao Qian have already confessed that you were the one who facilitated this arrangement. After it was done, Zhao Qian would sign a contract with you, and you would profit from it!” The officer presented Lu Ling’s and Zhao Qian’s testimonies, complete with their signatures—there could be no faking here.
But Qiao Nuo felt completely shattered; she had no knowledge of any such arrangement!
First, Jin Chengyan misunderstood her, and now the police had solid evidence that painted her as the orchestrator!
“The victim is a public figure; this matter will be handled discreetly, but that doesn’t mean she can be bullied!” The officer said coldly to Qiao Nuo.
“I…” Qiao Nuo was at a loss for words. Continuing to speak would only give them more ammunition against her. “I want to contact my lawyer!”
"Please, go ahead." Immediately, the two police officers left Qiao Nuo in the waiting room, not giving her a phone, and even turning off the air conditioning inside!

"Young Master, Miss Qiao was just taken away by the police. The news we've gathered is that she is involved in a scandalous transaction," A Shan rushed in.
Jin Chengyan looked up, his brows slightly furrowed at the mention of those words—scandalous transaction?
"It's about Miss Ruan's case. Lu Ling and Zhao Qian have already confessed that it was Miss Qiao who instructed them..."
"Get out."
