Due to the incident where Consort Chang fell into the water, Chun Qiu had been nagging Minjin incessantly.
Later, Minjin learned that the silk handkerchief was a gift from Long Huan to Consort Chang, which explained why she had jumped into the water without a second thought for her own life that day.
Although Minjin was reluctant in her heart, she still brought some fine silk to visit Yongfu Palace, so as not to lose the dignity expected of a queen.
As soon as she entered Yongfu Palace, she saw Consort Chang sitting at a round rosewood table, sipping tea.
Dressed in crimson brocade, her pale face showed no signs of color. Upon hearing the palace maid's report, her small face was filled with panic.
"I came specifically to see you. Are you feeling any better?" Minjin asked casually as she entered the room and handed her robe to a nearby maid.
"Thanks to Your Majesty's blessings, I am already fine."
Consort Chang smiled awkwardly, accepting the porcelain cup handed to her by a maid and presenting it with both hands before Minjin.
Minjin could see that she was afraid that Minjin would use the queen's authority to punish her for what she had done yesterday; even now, her hands trembled slightly as she offered the tea.
"Yesterday, the Imperial Tailoring Bureau brought over quite a bit of satin. I thought the patterns looked nice, so I brought some for you."
Minjin naturally accepted the teacup from her hands, lifted the lid of the teapot with her delicate fingers, and after blowing away the floating tea leaves, she smiled and said.
"Thank you, Your Majesty. Qing'er, bring me my brocade box." Consort Chang chuckled softly with her head lowered and gestured to her maid Qing'er behind her.
"These are all hair ornaments sent as tributes from the Western Regions. If you like any, you may take some back with you."
Consort Chang opened a green brocade box filled with various hairpins and ornaments.
Minjin's sharp eyes caught sight of a translucent silver hairpin adorned with a large dark green bead at its tip.
"I want this one." Minjin picked up the hairpin and glanced at Consort Chang beside her, only to find her looking troubled and pale.
"Your Majesty, this hairpin was originally a token given by His Majesty to you. I didn't pay attention and carelessly took it out just now," Qing'er hurriedly explained, noticing her mistress's discomfort and hoping Minjin would let it go.
"Consort Chang allowed me to choose freely from these items. Now that I have set my eyes on this hairpin, am I not allowed to have it?" Minjin replied with a sarcastic tone.
"But..."
"As long as the Empress likes it, that's all that matters." Qing'er wanted to say more, but Consort Chang had already interjected to smooth things over.
Minjin watched her bite her lip and couldn't help but smile in satisfaction.
When dinner time arrived, Minjin was in an unusually good mood and had Chun Qiu prepare a pot of wine.
She held a piece of mung bean cake in her hand, savoring every bite.
As Chun Qiu brought the wine to the table, she was taken aback by the silver hairpin adorning Minjin's hair.
"Where did this hairpin come from, Your Highness?"
"Isn't it beautiful? Consort Chang gave it to me today. I especially love that big bead on top," Minjin replied with a satisfied smile.
"Oh no! That's the token of affection the Emperor gave to Consort Chang! This is bad!" Chun Qiu exclaimed, looking alarmed and hopping anxiously.
Minjin frowned slightly, ignoring her as she continued to eat.
At that moment, a eunuch's sharp voice echoed in the room, followed by a figure in bright yellow hastily entering Palace of Gathered Elegance.
"Borjigit Minjin!" The furious shout called out her name once again with palpable anger.
Minjin looked up at him with annoyance; his once handsome face was now flushed with rage.
"What is it this time? You calling me like that makes me uneasy."
Minjin pouted, and just as she finished speaking, Long Huan rushed forward and grabbed her wrist with such force that she thought her hand might dislocate.
The palace maids in the room were so frightened that they knelt on the ground, not daring to make a sound.
"What are you going crazy about now? Let go of me!" Minjin cried out in pain, trying to shake off his grip. But the more she struggled, the tighter he held on.
"Did you go see Pu'er today? Did you force her to give you this hairpin?"
Long Huan's sharp eyes caught sight of the silver hairpin in her hair, and he yanked it off, coldly questioning her.
"I didn't! She told me to choose freely. How was I supposed to know this was your token of love?" Minjin exclaimed, her teeth clenched as she defended her actions loudly.
Long Huan suddenly smiled coldly, a hint of mockery flickering in his deep-set eyes.
"I haven't said this is a token of love. How do you know? And you claim it wasn't intentional?"
Consort Chang! Every time he came looking for her, it was always for that woman!
Minjin felt a surge of anger rising in her chest. Tilting her head defiantly, she said, "Yes, I know this is your token of love, and that's why I'm so jealous that I snatched it! So what?"
"Just admit it," Long Huan replied with a dry laugh, then he raised his hand and shook off her wrist, forcefully throwing her to the ground.
Watching his arrogant and indifferent back, Minjin gritted her teeth in hatred. She suddenly sprang up and lunged at him, wrapping her entire body around his back and biting down on his shoulder.
"Ah... What are you doing! That hurts!"
Long Huan cried out in pain, trying to turn and shake off her heavy body. But Minjin clung tightly to his waist, squeezing harder with each attempt to throw her off, biting down even more fiercely.
Minjin thought to herself, let it hurt you.
This way, he could feel her pain too.
