Wang Daguo felt a surge of excitement, unsure of how to respond. "Sister Xian, are you serious? I... I..."
"What about it?" Su Mingxian replied with a hint of disdain. "What, you don't want to?"
"No, no," Wang Daguo quickly waved his hands, then lowered his head shyly. "It's just... it's a bit sudden, and, well, it wouldn't be appropriate for me to join in right now, would it?"
Su Mingxian suddenly realized something. "What are you daydreaming about? You’re not thinking of investing, are you?"
Wang Daguo looked bewildered, while Su Mingxian burst into laughter. After a moment of thought, she continued, "Forget about investing for now. I'm planning to establish a Food Processing Plant. Would you be interested in coming on board as the Deputy Factory Director? The salary would increase by a thousand from what you're currently making, plus there would be year-end bonuses."
"Deputy Factory Director?" Wang Daguo exclaimed in surprise. He had felt a bit down before, but now he was both excited and nervous. "Sister Xian, do you really think I can handle it?"
"Why not? If I say you can, then you can," Su Mingxian declared firmly.
Establishing the Food Processing Plant was just the first step; the second step was to start recruiting franchisees. Yes, that was the plan.
Just as they finalized their discussion, a loud shout pierced the air: "Catch the thief! Catch the thief!"
Before Wang Daguo could process what was happening, he saw Su Mingxian dart out like an arrow. "Xian—"
He hadn’t even finished calling her name before she disappeared from sight.
In no time at all, in a narrow alley around the corner, Su Mingxian had kicked down a young man dressed in yellow. As they recognized each other, both exclaimed in unison, "How is it you again?"
"Why is it you again?"
The Yellow-Clothed Thief was on the verge of tears, instinctively wrapping his arms around himself. "Sister—"
"Shut up! Who are you calling sister?" Su Mingxian's expression turned cold as she glared at him fiercely. "You're still so young, yet you haven't learned your lesson. How long has it been since you last stole something? You're simply incorrigible. I—"
Before she could finish, the Yellow-Clothed Thief suddenly clung to her leg, his face pleading. "Sister, please, I beg you, don't call the police and don't turn me in. My friend is in the hospital waiting for this money to save his life. Sister, I'm begging you."
Seeing his desperate expression left Su Mingxian momentarily stunned, but she quickly regained her composure and coldly replied, "Do you think I'm a three-year-old? Do you really expect me to believe a thief like you?"
Just as those words left her mouth, he tightened his grip around her thigh even more. Tears streamed down his face as he cried out, "I'm not lying! My friend really is in the hospital waiting for help. If you don't believe me, look! Here’s the hospital bill! I—"
"Sister, I swear I'm not deceiving you. Just trust me this once—just once!" But seeing Su Mingxian's unyielding expression made his heart sink. Finally, he gritted his teeth and declared with a look of resignation, "If you let me go this time, I'll do whatever you want. You wanted me for something, right? I can agree to anything—"
Su Mingxian nearly spat out a mouthful of blood from laughter. "Stop flattering yourself! Who would want you? And 'do whatever I want'? You think you're in a position to negotiate? Get off me!"
"I won't let go! Sister, my friend really needs this money to survive. I'm begging you! I'll even kneel and bow to you if that's what it takes!"
With that, the Yellow-Clothed Thief truly dropped to his knees and began to knock his head against the ground, crying as he did so.
Su Mingxian found herself at a loss; could a thief really be this good at acting?
Just then, a loud shout came from behind, "Stop right there, you thief! Stop—"
The Yellow-Clothed Thief became more anxious, nearly pulling Su Mingxian's pants off. Furious, she kicked out and shouted, "Give me back the money you stole! Hurry up and get lost! What are you standing there for? Once the crowd disperses, come to Su's Cold Noodles to find me. If that rat really ends up in the hospital, I'll cover the expenses."
