Xu Shen said nothing more, knowing well the purpose of his friend's visit. He simply pointed in a direction. His friend cautiously walked over, carefully took out his phone, and inspected it as if it had suffered severe damage at the hands of others. After checking it thoroughly, he finally looked at the contents on the screen.
In this age of technology, everyone’s phone contained various personal items. Xu Shen remarked, "Go ahead, tell me what you were expecting from this visit. It can't just be because I have your phone; that’s not a valid excuse. If you have something to say, just say it."
His friend replied, "Honestly, I don’t have much to say. I’ve already expressed everything I wanted to you. Besides, you took my phone without my permission and left with it. If you did something wrong with it, people would come looking for me instead of you.
I need to point out that my phone is very important to me. You had no right to take someone else's belongings." Initially calm since he hadn’t seen the contents of his phone, his demeanor changed drastically once he did.
Raising his voice, he exclaimed, "Are you serious? You took my phone and went on a spending spree! Even if you spent money, I could understand that, but I want to know what on earth you bought that cost so much! With those numbers, you could easily treat ten people to a meal!
Do you realize that amount is my entire monthly living expense? You just used my month's budget for a single meal! Isn’t that a bit extravagant? I was hoping we could go out together and enjoy some good food, but instead, you took my phone and indulged yourself while leaving me stuck at work eating takeout alone. Isn’t that a bit much?"
Xu Shen responded, "You were the one who suggested going out for a nice meal. Besides, my actions are closely related to yours; you ordered so much food that it would have been wasteful not to enjoy it. I couldn’t let your generosity go to waste by stopping myself from enjoying those dishes.
Don’t worry; I made sure to taste everything for you, and nothing went completely to waste in the end. Sure, I might have spent a little more than necessary, but all of it ended up with your family. I couldn’t finish it all by myself; your mother ended up taking everything home. If you don’t believe me, just give her a call."
