"You know what to do. His temper isn't great, so keep your distance from him," she said, preparing to leave. However, Huangpu River, feeling rejected, quickly grabbed her arm with a pitiful expression and pleaded, "Sister Xian, I know I was wrong. Can you please not go with him?"
"What do you think?" Su Mingxian shot him a glare before adding, "For the next few days, stick close to Xiu Cai and keep an eye on the market. Once I get everything settled, we can discuss the new shop."
The two exchanged words without much thought, unaware that Huangpu River was deliberately creating an ambiguous scene.
Shen Chi watched everything unfold through the rearview mirror, clearly seeing Huangpu River's provocative peach blossom eyes. His expression grew colder.
Fang Dahai noticed this and cleared his throat softly, lowering his voice to say, "Brother Chi Zi, do you need me to—"
Before he could finish, Shen Chi's icy glare interrupted him.
Feeling awkward, Fang Dahai rubbed his nose as Shen Chi spoke again.
"Are you done? Get in the car."
Shen Chi's face was stern as he cast a sidelong glance at Huangpu River. The latter tightened his grip on Su Mingxian's arm even more. "Sister Xian, can I come see you?"
Su Mingxian frowned at her arm being held so tightly; it hurt enough that she was about to shake him off when she suddenly felt a chill run down her spine.
"No," Shen Chi's voice was cold and piercing. "Aren't you getting in the car?"
"Oh, I'm coming!" Huangpu River quickly released her and sternly warned, "No more tricks."
Huangpu River looked pitiful, like an abandoned puppy, but Su Mingxian remained unfazed and got into the car without a second thought.
Shen Chi glanced at the dejected Huangpu River through the rearview mirror, a slight smile curling at the corners of his mouth. "Drive."
"Got it!" Fang Dahai replied eagerly, his excitement palpable as he looked at Shen Chi with newfound admiration.
Indeed, Brother Chi Zi was still Brother Chi Zi. No matter how flashy that young man was, he was still no match for his own Brother Chi Zi, who left him utterly defeated.
With a face full of excitement, he said, "Sister-in-law, the big nephew and niece are all set! Let’s head out."
Qian Qian waved her little hands joyfully. "Let’s go to our new home!"
Yang Yang followed suit, happily shouting along, and the car was filled with laughter and cheer.
As they passed by the Ruan Family's gate, Wang Fang spat disdainfully.
"What’s the big deal about moving? It’s just a beat-up car they probably got from who knows where. Ugh, what are they showing off for? Typical country bumpkins..."
Before she could finish her sentence, she received a sharp whack on her back. "Shut up."
"At a time like this, you still have the nerve to mock others?" The elderly woman wielding the stick glared at her with disappointment. "You've embarrassed our family enough already; hurry up and get inside!"
Wang Fang immediately wilted. "Mom, I..."
“Have you lost your mind after being kicked out? Why did you want me to come here with my tail between my legs?” With that, she turned to leave, but Wang Fang quickly grabbed her, persuading her to step through the gates of the Ruan Family.
Not only had the Wang family members arrived, but even the the Zheng Family was present. No one was willing to be thrown out like this. The house may not be large, but if it were to be demolished, it could mean money. They couldn't just walk away, especially considering the face they had to maintain in front of neighbors who would surely gossip.
The Ruan Family was entangled in endless lawsuits, and Su Mingxian's mother had already moved into their new residence.
Although the house was small, the environment was far better than the alley they had lived in before.
With water, electricity, and gas all available, and most importantly, an independent bathroom, Su Mingxian could finally enjoy a hot shower. The only downside was that it was a one-bedroom apartment, which raised a pressing question.
How were they going to live together?
