"Delicious! Wow, this spicy shrimp is amazing!"
Fang Dahai's eyes lit up, and he couldn't hold back any longer as he dove into the food.
As he watched the plate of shrimp rapidly empty, Shen Chi's expression darkened, but he didn't fall behind in speed.
The two of them devoured the food like a whirlwind. By the time Su Mingxian had composed herself and returned to the dining room, she was taken aback.
The table was littered with remnants of what had once been a feast, while the two men sat upright, sipping their vegetable and tofu soup as if nothing had happened.
Compared to Shen Chi's calm demeanor, Fang Dahai clearly felt a bit guilty. "Ahem, Sister-in-law, your cooking is just too good! I couldn't stop myself once I started. But this is what Brother Chi Zi saved for you; come on over and have some. You've worked hard for so long."
Fang Dahai wore a flattering smile, and Su Mingxian couldn't help but twitch her lips. "If you like it, that's great. There's more in the pot; let me refill your plates."
"What? There's more? That's fantastic!" Fang Dahai exclaimed joyfully, eagerly carrying the plate to the kitchen.
Shen Chi took out a bottle of wine; it would be a shame not to drink with such good food.
"Brother Chi Zi, I'm really envious of you. If I could marry a daughter-in-law as capable as your sister-in-law, I wouldn't have to be single until now!" Fang Dahai said with an envious look.
Shen Chi shot him a sidelong glance. "Are you sure? elder Fang would be very pleased to know."
Fang Dahai's face turned pale at once. "Brother Chi Zi, you're my real brother! I was wrong; I was wrong. I'll drink one for my mistakes—let's toast!"
Shen Chi couldn't be bothered to engage with him and continued drinking his wine, his peripheral vision catching the gentle sight of Su Mingxian feeding Yang Yang.
Fang Dahai downed a glass and began to talk more freely.
"Brother Chi Zi, you have no idea how disastrous that last project was. The big boss ran off, and the entire project fell apart. Luckily, you went back home, and we didn't take it on; otherwise, we might have lost so much we'd not even recognize our own mothers."
Fang Dahai's face was filled with lingering fear; even though it had been a while, he still felt the need to recount it.
Hearing this, Shen Chi involuntarily glanced at Su Mingxian, his gaze distant as if lost in thought.
Fang Dahai immediately noticed and smiled mysteriously. "Brother Chi Zi, look! Sister-in-law and your big nephew are here. It’s a bit cramped staying here; why not buy a house? I heard about a Foreign Sales Housing that’s really nice. There’s a swimming pool downstairs, and the community is well-equipped with schools, shopping malls, and bus stations..."
Before he could finish, Shen Chi coolly interrupted, "Which one of your girlfriends is it this time?"
"Huh? What are you talking about? Am I that kind of person?" Fang Dahai laughed awkwardly as he tried to deny it.
Shen Chi rolled his eyes in exasperation and chose not to respond.
However, Su Mingxian seemed interested. "Foreign Sales Housing? Where is it? What schools are around?"
Fang Dahai paused for a moment before answering, "Well, I’m not sure about the specifics. I heard there’s a new Foreign Language Primary School nearby?"
Su Mingxian's eyes lit up upon hearing this. "Really? Then give me your girlfriend's contact information; I want to check it out."
"Ah?" Fang Dahai exclaimed in surprise. He then stole a glance at Shen Chi and swallowed hard, saying, "Sure, that's quite a big deal. Just remember to mention me, Fang Dahai, when the time comes."
Shen Chi fixed his gaze on Su Mingxian, puzzled by her inquiry. Did she want to buy a house?
At this thought, Shen Chi's brows furrowed slightly. The houses in that area were not just expensive; they were exorbitantly priced.
