Under the observatory, a fierce battle was erupting.
"Blow it up! Destroy the entire observatory!" lord Xu's frantic voice pierced through the night. His assassins were placing explosives all around, determined to reduce this building, which held twenty years of secrets, to rubble.
"Stop!" Liu Ying and Xu Yuan arrived just in time to see several fuses already ignited.
lord Xu turned around, a mad grin spreading across his face. "You're just in time! Tonight, you will accompany these damned pieces of evidence to their graves!"
" lord Xu," Xu Yuan said coldly, "it's all over. The Empress has obtained the account books and tokens; your collusion with the Rebels is indisputable."
"Over?" lord Xu sneered. "As long as I destroy the observatory and erase all methods of cracking the codes, those so-called pieces of evidence will just be a pile of worthless paper!"
"It seems you are hopelessly deluded," Xu Yuan said slowly as he unfolded his folding fan.
"Attack! Kill them!" lord Xu commanded, and the assassins surged forward.
Xu Yuan stood protectively in front of Liu Ying, deftly wielding his fan to fend off the attackers one by one. Liu Ying took the opportunity to extinguish several fuses while keeping an eye on the changing sky.
"Watch out!" Xu Yuan suddenly shouted. An assassin had launched a sneak attack from the shadows, aiming straight for Liu Ying's back!
In a critical moment, Liu Ying raised the Bronze Mirror. Under the moonlight, the mirror suddenly emitted a dazzling light that caught the assassin off guard, forcing him to retreat repeatedly.
"So this is the the Yu Family's mirror..." lord Xu gritted his teeth. "If it weren't for this damned mirror back then, our plan would have succeeded long ago!"
"I see now," Liu Ying realized. "That's why you went to such extremes twenty years ago—to eliminate anyone who could uncover the methods to crack the Astronomical Code!"
"Now that you know, you can't be left alive!" lord Xu suddenly pulled something from his pocket. The crowd focused their eyes and saw it was a porcelain bottle filled with Fragrant Cold Powder!
"This is bad!" Xu Yuan's face changed dramatically. "He's going to take us all down with him!"
lord Xu grinned wickedly as he raised the porcelain bottle high. "Let’s go to hell together!"
Just as he was about to smash the bottle, an arrow shot through the air and knocked it away! The bottle arced through the air and crashed onto an empty patch of ground far away.
"Su Jinzhi!" lord Xu recognized the figure in the shadows.
"Thank you," Liu Ying nodded gratefully at Su Jinzhi.
However, lord Xu laughed even more maniacally. "Do you think this is over?" He clapped his hands. "Look beneath your feet!"
Everyone then noticed that they were standing on a ground covered in gunpowder! The fuses had already been lit and were inching their way toward them!
"Xu Yuan, take her away!" Su Jinzhi shouted. "I'll handle this here!"
"No!" Liu Ying said firmly. "We live or die together!"
At that moment, an extraordinary phenomenon occurred in the sky. The brilliance of the stars in Tian Shiyuan suddenly intensified, reminiscent of that night twenty years ago.
Liu Ying had a sudden inspiration and raised the Bronze Mirror towards the heavens. The mirror emitted a strange glow under the starlight, and those rays fell to the ground, forming a formation!
"This is..." Xu Yuan exclaimed in surprise, noticing that the gunpowder on the ground was neatly divided into several distinct areas by these beams of light.
"Quick!" Liu Ying shouted, "Extinguish the fuses in order according to Tian Shiyuan's direction!"
The three immediately sprang into action. Su Jinzhi took charge of the east, Xu Yuan held the west, while Liu Ying dealt with the center. Just as most of the fuses were about to be extinguished, lord Xu suddenly burst into wild laughter.
"You've forgotten one place!"
Everyone looked up and saw that the top of the observatory was unexpectedly covered in gunpowder. A burning arrow was whistling towards it!
"No!" The three cried out in unison.
In a critical moment, a Bai Ying descended from the sky and shot down the arrow. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a master from the the Zhang Family!
Reinforcements have arrived! A shout came from afar. The Imperial Guard, led by Lord Zhang, had surrounded the observatory.
lord Xu's face turned ashen as he suddenly let out a piercing wail towards the sky: "It's over! Everything is over!"
"Xu Bowen!" The queen's voice rang out with authority in the night, "Will you not surrender?"
lord Xu spun around abruptly, a flicker of determination flashing in his eyes: "You think you can capture me? Not so easily!"
With that, he leaped towards the top of the observatory. However, at that moment, a beam of light flashed—moonlight reflected from Liu Ying's Bronze Mirror!
lord Xu was caught off guard by this sudden light and lost his balance, falling from above. The Imperial Guard rushed forward and subdued him.
"Take him away!" the queen commanded coldly. "Interrogate him thoroughly along with Madam Xu!"
Under the moonlight, Liu Ying watched everything unfold and suddenly felt as if she were in another world. After twenty years, the truth of this injustice was finally about to be revealed.
Xu Yuan gently held her hand, silently conveying a promise: from now on, no one would ever harm her again.
