With questions lingering in my mind, I sat at one table while Song Mingyu took another. He ordered only a bowl of plain congee and two steamed buns, while I unapologetically requested a feast of dishes. 0

If it weren't for the fierce warning in his gaze, I might have asked for a pot of wine to accompany my meal. 0

Strangely enough, Song Mingyu, a grown man, was a vegetarian. 0

Meanwhile, I had always been someone who couldn't live without meat. 0

The moment Song Mingyu appeared, the female innkeeper of Fated to Meet Immortals Inn was instantly smitten. 0

She swayed her slender waist and approached with light steps, one hand delicately holding a jade-green wine pot, her face adorned with a flirtatious smile that could make one weak in the knees. What a charming innkeeper she was! 0

Unable to resist, I quickly moved my stool and sat beside Song Mingyu, taking the wine pot from her hands. "Innkeeper, you don't need to serve us personally; he never drinks. Let me take care of it," I said. 0

With that, I took a hearty gulp and quietly leaned over to Song Mingyu. "A beautiful woman running a shop in a place like this isn't easy; it might be a shady establishment. Let me test the wine first—you're okay with that, right?" 0

"Is that so, Jiu Jiu? I never knew you cared about me so much!" 0

Song Mingyu was someone who couldn't stand not taking advantage of others for even a day. A faint smirk played on his lips as he teased me. 0

Meanwhile, the innkeeper She, pouring wine nearby, was startled by my sudden appearance. She gasped and jumped back like a frightened rabbit, her expression resembling that of a woman encountering a cockroach—both terrified and slightly disgusted. 0

"Innkeeper, are you alright?" Song Mingyu reacted quickly, steadying the nearly falling innkeeper She with concern etched on his face. 0

I busied myself with pouring wine over my face, pondering to myself whether there was something stuck in my teeth or perhaps some eye crust in the corner of my eye that could scare someone to this extent. 0

After carefully checking myself and confirming there was nothing wrong, I turned my head and saw Song Mingyu smiling as he apologized to Shopkeeper She. My anger flared instantly, and I slammed my palm down on the table, shouting, "Why isn't the food here yet?" 0

I hit the table too hard, and my hand stung from the impact. 0

Shopkeeper She, looking a bit awkward, went to the kitchen to hurry the food along. I was so furious that my cheeks puffed out like an angry pufferfish. 0

Song Mingyu looked at me with a teasing expression and asked, "Jiu Jiu, what are you angry about? Are you jealous that Shopkeeper She is more gentle and beautiful than you?" 0

I felt as if someone had stepped on my foot, jumping up in outrage and retorting loudly, "What am I angry about? What reason do I have to be angry? I'm just witnessing a couple of dogs flirting!" I thought to myself that since I didn't like Song Mingyu anyway, it would be best if he could be made to spit blood from anger. 0

He pulled me aside into a dimly lit corner, his expression turning serious as he whispered, "Keep an eye on that Shopkeeper She. I was just trying to get information from her because I feel she’s not ordinary." 0

"Pfft, of course she's not ordinary. Song Mingyu, you're so shallow! You see someone pretty and you fall for them right away," I said with disdain, shooting him a scornful look. 0

Seeing me getting worked up only made him smile more; his lips curled up as he chuckled softly while gently patting my shoulder. He reminded me not to wander around at night since he was sleeping next door. 0

"Don't worry, I won't ruin your good fortune. I'll plug my ears and sleep soundly. Is that satisfactory?" 0

Feeling wronged, I left behind a table full of delicious dishes and stormed upstairs in a huff. 0

I didn't understand why I was so angry. I had told myself more than once that I didn’t like Song Mingyu; I was only here to appease my father and mother so they wouldn’t nag me about marrying him anymore. 0

"I must be feeling unwell from the change in environment, that's why I'm having these wild thoughts. A good sleep will fix it," I murmured softly to myself as I snuggled into bed, quickly drifting off into a deep slumber. 0

However, before long, I was jolted awake. 0

My stomach growled insistently. Feeling the emptiness in my belly, I decided to sneak into the kitchen to find something to satisfy my hunger. 0

I thought to myself that while I couldn't calm my restless mind, at least I could appease this protesting stomach! 0
