After the two of them exchanged such words, they both burst into laughter, suddenly realizing that even though they hadn't seen each other for many years, their reunion felt incredibly warm and familiar. There was no sense of awkwardness or flaws in their interaction. 0

However, Ying Tao was still a straightforward person. He had a tendency to express his thoughts openly without any concealment. Although their conversation had been quite pleasant, Intel decided to voice what was on his mind. He felt that continuing to hold back would serve no purpose; their bond remained intact, and even if he asked some sensitive questions, he wouldn't mind. 0

Yet, he still approached the topic cautiously. After all, they hadn't seen each other in years, and he wasn't sure if there had been any changes in her personality. Out of respect for her, he tentatively asked, “I wonder how you’ve been during these years I’ve been away. Did you spend it alone or with someone else? That’s what I care about the most. I can’t imagine anyone taking better care of you than I would have. If someone has been there for you, that’s great; but if you’ve been on your own, I can’t help but feel a little heartbroken. It must have been tough living alone without me around.” 0

Li Yingxue answered without hesitation, “What are you thinking? Of course, I spent that time alone! There wasn’t anyone else. You know someone like me wouldn’t attract anyone’s attention; that’s absolutely impossible. If you feel you owe me a lot for not being here these past few years, then I hope you’ll be with me every day from now on. Don’t disappear like before. Time really flies by so quickly; it slips away quietly if we’re not careful. I feel a bit regretful about that.” 0

Ying Tao continued, “If you’ve really been alone, I have a question I’m particularly curious about. I remember when we lost contact, you seemed to be very close to someone else. As far as I know, it looked like you two were heading towards marriage. So how could it be that you spent these years alone? Did something happen during that time? I might be overthinking this; please don’t take it the wrong way.” 0

Li Yingxue felt very tense as she picked up the water from the table and took a sip, swallowing awkwardly. The question was indeed too embarrassing for her, and she didn’t know how to respond. No one had ever asked her such a thing before; she hadn’t experienced this kind of awkwardness in a long time. 0

Perhaps because she had felt quite lonely over the years and had no one to care about her life, she wished no one would ask her such questions anymore. Most of her current friends were people she met after starting work, and they didn’t know what she had been like before; hence they never asked such questions. 0

However, some of her true friends understood her well enough to know that such feelings had hurt her in the past, so they intentionally avoided bringing it up. Now that Ying Tao was asking her directly, she felt compelled to answer. After all, their bond still existed; if she refused to answer his question, he might think she didn’t trust him. So despite feeling uncomfortable inside, she chose to respond. 0

She simply found a new excuse that would save face while also satisfying his curiosity. 0
